"Love the surroundings - very cozy feeling the minute you step in. The staff was very attentive even if you weren't their table. Good wine list, nice variety in small and large plates and worth a return trip even though I don't live in the neighborhood."

"The food was outstanding. Some of the best we had during our stay in Chicago. I don't think we could say enough good things about the helpful and friendly staff. My only regret is not having enough time to visit them twice!"

"We really wanted to love this place, but sadly it fell short of our expectations. We went with two other couples & two babies for brunch. We brought the kids because we were told it was very kid friendly by the owners. From the time we walked in until we left, we had terrible service. Although it wasn't busy, it took them 15 minutes to seat us and then another 15 minutes to bring us two high chairs. Our server seemed overwhelmed & the food took way too long. We all agreed that the food was good, but not great. The server even argued with one of our friends when he asked for his toast claiming he didn't get toast with his meal, but he did. There was no apology when he realized he did in fact get a side of toast. It was disappointing"

"While our waiter was polite and energetic he was a little pushy, for example, I felt a little rushed to make a decision on our appetizers and he definitely tried to sale us an expensive bottle of wine that we weren't interested in. Maybe this was because we had a Living Social and he was trying to get us to buy more? Also, they sat us right in front of the fireplace without asking which was really uncomfortable."

"I wasn't sure when we walked in how our meal would turn out, but we were very pleasantly surprised. There were not a lot of patrons, but the by the time we left, we couldn't imagine why. Everything we ate was outstanding: the seared scallop appetizer was perfect. The pork tenderloin was the perfect combination of flavors. Brussel sprouts were the seasonal vegetable and they were perfectly cooked as well. The manager and our waiter (Eddy) were very helpful in choosing our wine. They were gracious enough to let us try a few until we found the perfect one. We tried the dessert combo (espresso pot de creme and the fried nutella) and both were truly fantastic."

"This was my first time here. There were five of us and we decided to pretty much stick to Blue Star's outstanding small plate menu and share everything. Great choice. There were numerous good options, and I'm glad I got to try everything. The wine selection was good and we got some good recommendations from our server. Prices are more than reasonable. The interior has a great vibe - the pictures on their website don't do it justice. A great place to have a relaxing meal with friends."

"I was not happy about my experience, I had to park a ways from the spot. They under cooked my food, and the chef didn't come to our table to thank us for coming out. But he did make it to the tables around us. The place is not diverse."

"Blue Star was, and I cannot stress this enough...FANTASTIC. From the unreal food (Goat Cheese Croquettes w/ Blueberry/Honey Emulsion to the Duck Confit w/ wild mushroom risotto. Everything we had there was delicious. Highly recommended!"
