Diner Reviews
  • "We have a house in Frisco and this is my son's favorite restaurant, so it was an easy pick for his birthday! Always consistently good, although portions are getting smaller. For the prices, would be nice to get a salad as a starter, too."

  • "My wife wanted to order prime rib and they were out?"

  • "We had a wonderful experience at the Blue Spruce Inn. We were a group of nine and got the opportunity to sit upstairs next to the closet where the "ghost" resides. We felt like we had the undivided attention of our server James and were entertained by him all evening. The food was delicious and served promptly - not easy for a group. Definitely will come back."

  • "This is a nice restaurant with great service. It's among the finest in Frisco. We reccomend you give it a try."

  • "Over the years we have frequented the Blue Spruce Inn. This is a place for special occassions, to enjoy a wonderful meal. However, our latest visit was disappointing. We both ordered the 8oz prime rib, cooked medium. It came to us "medium well". I did not report the overcooked meal to our server, I should have. The tomato basil soup was outstanding! Next visit I will make sure that our meal is prepared as ordered."

  • "We really enjoyed the Blue Spruce Inn restaurant. We first sat by the fireplace and had drinks in the bar. Our waitress was excellence and our food was very good. Our only complaint was that it took about 40 minutes for our food to arrive after we ordered. According to the waitress, our order came in behind a large group. All in all, we really enjoyed the meal and we will go back."

  • "We had a wonderful meal. The steak was cooked perfectly and was flavorful. Save room for desert the creme brûlée and cheesecake are fantastic!"

  • "This is one of our favorite restaurants, we like the log cabin feel as well as friendliness and ability to meet my gluten free needs with food. They were very busy and our red trout was too well done, but we enjoyed ourselves immensely."

  • "Always love to stop in at the "Spruce." Great food, wait staff and a great bar to hang out in!"

  • "The Blue Spruce is our favorite fine dining restaurant in Frisco CO. It is a little spendy but so worth the money. Food is always excellent and service is top rate."

  • "Cozy, rustic ambience reminiscent of a classic north woods supper club (I'm from the Midwest) I started off with lobster bisque which combined great flavor a bit of chowdery texture. We both had the roast duck with a sweet chipotle sauce and it was excellent. Finished off with an amazing raspberry bread pudding. The staff was warm and welcoming."

  • "Asked for a table by the fireplace, did not get it. There was a table that sat empty by the fireplace the whole time we had dinner."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "Food was good, i had Elk Medallions, my wife had Lamb Steaks. Waitress was pleasant but not familiar with specials."

  • "Had a very nice valentine dinner. I had the trout almondine and my husband got the pork chop. Both were delicious. Also enjoyed the mango cobbler a la mode."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "Small special get together. Everyone in our group loved their meal. I had the 12oz Prime Rib "end cut" that was outstanding. The wine list was small but with a good selection. Will return again."

  • "Hostess was so rude. Despite the empty tables downstairs she stuck us in the corner in the totally empty upstairs. Then when we asked to move she was hostile and unbelievably rude. I would never return"

  • "The Mt Royal steak was outstanding! Love the flavor mix of the blue cheese and the sauce and our waiter, Daven, was most attentive."

  • "Cozy environment in the main restaurant. The menu has some very affordable options for full meals for $20 and others where you could spend a pretty penny on steaks and lobsters etc. The orange Chipotle slow roasted duck was fantastic! Moist and very tasty. My filet with crab and Bearnaise was fine, but lacked seasoning. The sauteed green beans were great though. The wine list was sufficent and enough options by the glass. The beer list was limited and they only serve been on tap brewed by their sister restaurant in town Backcountry Brewery and my husband isn't a fan of their beers. Server was very hard working and entertaining. This was a busy Saturday on a holiday weekend, and I haven't seen anyone juggle tables like he did."

  • "Me and my group went here to celebrate my mom's birthday. The waiter was very nice and the food was great! I would recommend this to everyone staying in Frisco."

  • "One of Summit County's best (and only) truly good restaurants. The menu is good - not stellar and the food is very good too. A great Frisco option & the ambiance is great and service is usually exceptional."

  • "As in years past, my significant other took me for my birthday. Blue Spruce was and is one of my favorite restaurants in all of Colorado. Outstanding and imaginative food, prepared exceptionally well, with terrific service and a great rustic ambience. We will be back again soon."

  • "When one of our party remarked that her creme brûlée was cold, the waiter returned to the table and read aloud from a food reference book that creme brûlée was a custard usually served cold. To say that we felt his condescending attitude was inappropriate would be an understatement. The waiter then followed us to the parking lot to complain about his tip."

  • "Two out of four meals were excellent I ordered elk and was expecting tenderloin cut but got a lesser cut of meat. I would go back"

  • "Finding a table for a large group between Christmas and New Year was a challenge. Unique, good food and not too loud were our main criteria - Blue Spruce Inn fit the bill on all counts! The saloon style bar was a great "Coloradoan" atmosphere for our out-of-state guests to enjoy a cocktail before dinner. Food was delicious! All the men raved about their steaks and the women were thankful the portions were "just right". Will definitely go back next time we have another large group visiting!"

  • "not for the service. My family of four had dinner at Blue Spruce Inn on a Thursday night. The entire staff seemed overwhelmed upon our arrival. We were seated quickly but had to wait 20 minutes for our waitress to take our drink order and then waited an additional 15 minutes for our drinks to arrive. We contemplated leaving at that point as several tables around us appeared to be having challenges. Fortunately the bread basket arrived fresh and piping hot and satiated our weary skiers. I'm glad we stayed because the food was excellent. We started with the mussels which were flavorful, fresh and perfectly cooked. The elk medallions were the highlight of the meal with amazing sauce. We also enjoyed the prime rib and New York special."

  • "My 11 year old son and I ate here last week. He had filet and I had a strip steak. BOTH meats were cooked perfectly. The desserts were great also. The only bad thing that happened was that the waiter asked us if we wanted a salad and we both said yes. But the waiter did NOT say that there was ANY charge for the salads - we probably would NOT have opted for one if we knew they were extra."

  • "I had the prime rib with a lobster tail. The food was fantastic! It was very busy but a great place to celebrate a special occasion."

  • "We dined at the Blue Spruce Inn, for the 2nd New Year's Eve. We like the quiet elegance it offers, and the service is great. It's intimacy gives us a chance to dine in peace, reflect on the events of the past year, have a conversation without a lot of background noise. The Blue Spruce offers an atmosphere of class & welcomeness. The menu is sure to please any palette & the prices are rather reasonable. for the delicious selections served. I guess you could say, "We have a New Year's Tradition, at the Blue Spruce Inn"."

  • "This is a wonderful little place to go on a winter evening. It is an authentic log cabin with a large fireplace and lacy white curtains. Very cozy! The food is good and the service is fine. We always make it on a ski trip to Breckenridge."

  • "We were seated by the fireplace in this lovely log restaurant. I had the prime rib, which was perfectly cooked and my husband had filet mignon. Both were delicious, as were the side dishes. For dessert, we shared a double chocolate mousse, with white and dark chocolates. I am not a fan of white chocolate, but the combination worked well. I found it a little sweet, probably from the white chocolate, but it was light and airy and over all, a real treat! The wait staff was friendly, but clearly very busy, as it was the holiday. We were not kept waiting, but they were hustling a bit. The noise level was moderate, well within my tolerance. I hate noisy restaurants. Holiday decor made the evening perfect. We hope we can return again, soon."

  • "Went here for Christmas Dinner. Exceedingly overpriced and poor food. Ate the one veggie option, which is a "polenta tower" doused in sauce that tasted like canned tomato soup. My partner ate a steak with gristle. This used to be a great restaurant. What happened?"

  • "My wife and I were on a short visit from the UK and have dined here before. We choose it for our Thansgiving Dinner as it is fairly intimate, has good service and a traditional menu. In particular we really enjoyed our pre-dinner drink beside the open fire in the bar area. The happy hour is excellent value and not to be missed. The front (old) dining area is much nicer than the rear area, which is an open and slightly noisy room (hence the 4 stars). Also we thought our deserts were nothing to write home about (hence the 4 stars again), but this is only a very minor criticism."

  • "We had a wonderful evening! Food, other diners, and weight staff were all in holiday mode. The food was just like a home made meal!"

  • "We were a party of 8. Restaurant called to verify tat we were coming. It was a blizzard onus it's but restaurant was war and inviting. Staff was very Friesland and our waiter was amazing! Knowledgeable about the menu and wine list, very accommodating and patient with our slightly drunken group! Food was wonderful. We will return!"

  • "Excellent service - friendly and attentive waiter. Facility - has an old musty smell - not too appealing. Food was okay - steak and fish was over-cooked - should not be. Overall experience was good."
