  • Cross Street: North End Avenue & West Street
  • Public Transit: We are located at 255 Vesey Street between North End Avenue and West Street (West Side Highway). You can take the E train to the World Trade Center stop and proceed west towards the West Side Highway. You can also take the 2 or 3 trains to the Park Place stop and walk west along Park Place to Murray Street. Continue across West Side Highway.

  • Parking Details: There are two parking garages within walking distance to the restaurant. Both are located on River Terrace, just west of Vesey street. The first is 2 River Terrace and the second is 20 River Terrace. There is street parking available on North End Avenue as well as Vesey Street after 6:00pm.

Widely credited as the founder of New York City’s barbecue movement, Blue Smoke celebrates the evolving American South while honoring its culinary traditions. Executive Chef Kenny Callaghan’s menu combines homestyle comfort with culinary finesse. Classic and specialty cocktails, an extensive American craft beer list, bourbon and American wines complete the experience.

The downtown location of Blue Smoke opened in December 2012. The flagship Blue Smoke, with the club Jazz Standard, is located on East 27th Street in New York City.

The faux smokehouse atmosphere is sort of phony, but the barbecue is quite good, and the choice of sauces more than adequate. One complaint: the pulled pork platter suffers from serving the pork itself on an uninspired slap of white bread. Sides are ample and tasty, and a wide choice of beers and whiskeys add up to a good--if not great--barbecue experience. Note: for those with gluten or nut alleges, the menu clearly identifies nut free and gluten free choices, which is very helpful"

  • "We came here here after going to the 911 Memorial & Museum. Everything was absolutely horrible, from the service which was slow as molasses (despite us being the only ones seated in the dining area) to the food which was over-smoked and luke-warm. Our waitress informed us that this was "the manager's last day as she had enough of the restaurant business & was going to take a desk job." I could see why after working at this place! It took forever to get our appetizers which came out one by one. Then we had another long wait before we got our entrees. I can honestly say this was the first time ever that both my brother & husband didn't finish. I was very embarrassed because I recommended this place. I'll never make this mistake again."

  • "My only complaint with the restaurant was the intense spice level of the Carolina pulled pork. There was no warning on the menu. When my friend and I complained, the waiter was unconcerned. He said we should have known that Carolina sauce is spicy hot. We could not finish our meals due to the uncomfortable sauce in our mouths."

  • "The barbecue was great. My family did the rib sampler, I had the pulled pork platter, and my brother's girlfriend had the chicken. All of it was amazing. It's nice that they offer different styles of BBQ, so there's something for everyone. The Memphis style ribs were a favorite for my family. I could've used a *little* more sauce on my pulled pork, but once I added a bit, it was perfect. Unfortunately, the sides left something to be desired. I'd heard they served great mac and cheese, but it was really mediocre...very mild, no seasoning, very creamy instead of a nice, dense, baked mac and cheese like you'd expect from a place that serves southern food. The coleslaw was very very vinegary. Baked beans were pretty good. We'd go back!"

  • "We were very disappointed in the food. The food is very pricey (as is most in the city) and the portion sizes were small. The menu did not say the pulled pork was spicey and it was very spicey so a $20.00 meal went to waste. Kids meals are $11.00 and the portions are very small. My sons ribs were mostly just fat and he would not eat them. When I complained about the spicey pulled pork the manager said "Well, you know what the best thing to do is when you have bad food - order some great dessert". No, we didn't order dessert and they didn't do anything to compensate. I would not go back there again. My husband picked it out because he does a lot smoking (meat that is) but he didn't even like the food!"

While the service was fine, the food was just OK. The appetizers were better than the main courses. When a rib-lover doesn't finish his ribs, it speaks volumes."

  • "Overall, I would say the food was a little disappointing. Some things were very good while others were not so much. The bar experience was very good. The chicken wings were excellent. We were seated right on time for our reservation. The waiters were very friendly and service was quick. The chicken was very good but the brisket and ribs were disappointing. The brisket did not have much flavor and no smoke taste at all. The rib sampler had two small baby back ribs, two small spare ribs and one beef rib. The pork ribs were dry and over done. The beef rib was fatty and bland. The pork and beans were underdone and did not give off a lot of BBQ taste. The fry bread was really ridiculously good. Desserts were good. The atmosphere is cool."

The staff were so kind and good with the kids including making special cookies for them (and letting them decorate them) and gave our 4 yr old some toys he loved. The staff is the high quality, extremely friendly Danny Meyer calibre people. In the summertime, they open up the front windowed walls, making it a fantastic way to enjoy a bourbon flight.   • "The food was very good and the service was excellent. Our overall experience was somewhat ruined however when the restaurant manager pretty much tried to kick us out. We had split a dessert and my son had a post-dinner cocktail and we did talk for a while. Just when we were about to leave anyhow the manager came over and asked if we wanted to get a dessert to go as they had people waiting. I didn't know there was a time limit on how long you could stay at a table. Most of my family have had experience in the restaurant business and we all had never seen this before. It was quite rude and put a damper on the night."

  • "Who says New Yorkers are rude? This place was so friendly!; and our table was waiting for us when we got there. The waiter was so funny! The kids got a real kick out of decorating their own pig cookie. The food was done perfectly, with lots of taste and not too much salt - even the cole slaw was tasty! The fried chicken was to die for, and I really loved how they noted my one child's nut allergy (and labeled nut free dishes on the menu) without blinking. Also liked the variety of barbeque sauces on the table, so you could put just as much as you'd like on your meat. Would totally recommend this to anyone, young and old alike!"

  • "Some of the food was pretty good. The chowder was way too salty. I think someone dumped soup into a salt shaker and put tons vinegar on the cole slaw. The ribs were good but not great - I did love the extra sauce. The desserts were the high point. Our waitress was amazing. She was thoughtful and generous with her time on a very busy day. So skip the appetizers and ask for something else as a side to the ribs and you might be ok. Not sure i would return for seconds!"
