Saturday evening they have a Jazz band which just adds to the noise level, which is very high. Could not even hear the people talk at my own table. Service was excellent, food was just OK. Way too much cheese on the lasagna.

The Blue River Bistro was an excellent choice for our two family group of 8. While, BRB may not have many options for groups of our size, the table they arranged for us via the OpenTable reservation was perfect. The food was excellent and reasonable in price. Our server was perfect and with jazz duo in the background, the overall experience is just what we had hoped for.

The atmosphere of the restaurant was great - very beautiful aesthetically and great live jazz on Saturday night. Loved the romantic date with my husband. We ordered a delicious Backcountry beer and good Fried Calamari. Order the delicious Chicken Parmesan! Avoid the Shellfish Cioppino - the tomato broth was very soup-like, the angel hair pasta was impossible to eat, and the "fresh fish" was very over cooked-not worth $30 at all! We ordered the very small, burnt-tasting creme brulee for dessert - I wouldn't recommend it! Overall, really good experience, you just have to know what to order - avoid the Shellfish Cioppino and the creme brulee.

It has been a couple of years since we have had dinner at this particular restaurant in Breckenridge. They have upgraded the look of the restaurant in a very contemporary way; new tables, chairs, artwork, arrangement, etc. However, it is still quite open with little space between tables, so it tends to be a little noisier than I like. The restaurant has updated their menu, and has some excellent choices for dinner. However, I found the dinner prices to be a little higher than I expected for what you got. All in all, it was a pleasant dinner and we will return again when we are in Breckenridge next time.

The "background" music in this restaurant is, and always has been, in the foreground. You can't have an effective cross-table conversation except for the periods when the musician(s) take a break. The food is wonderful, but the atmosphere seriously compromises the dining experience

We dined at the Blue River Bistro over the Labor Day weekend. The restaurant was quite crowded, with lots of people waiting for a seat. Thank goodness we had reservations. We were seated within five minutes of arrival, and service was very attentive in spite of the crowded conditions. So many people make for a lot of noise, but the food was definitely worth it - lots of interesting choices mean something for everyone. Seating was rather close, but we really hardly noticed the people around us. A singer/guitarist provided musical entertainment for the entire two hours that we were there. We did not feel rushed at all, and had a lovely time. Would definitely go back again, but only after making reservations.

We've been to this restaurant several times over the years - Each time we hope our experience will be a good one. This time it was the worst experience of all and I think this will be the last time we try. Our waiter was rude, disinterested in our needs (simple things like a glass of ice or salt for the table) The fish special was tough and overcooked, the chicken in the pasta was chewy and our guests ordered salads that came with so little dressing you couldn't see or taste it. Another example of our waiter's rudeness - when asked for more salad dressing he actually rolled his eyes. They have a trio playing music and the restaurant is too small for this much noise.

This restaurant was packed but I didn't find it to be anything special. No jazz on Friday nights. My husband had the chicken marsala and the sauce was flavorful, but the chicken was lacking salt, dry and overcooked. I had the eggplant risotto and added tiger shrimp. The risotto was delicious but lacked salt which I added but the tiger shrimp tasted fresh and was grilled to perfection. The eggplant was unseasoned and poorly cooked. I am sensitive to salt so for me to add salt means the food was very bland. The butter leaf wedge salad was delicious and had a fresh herb which made it unique - I think it was thyme. Service - excellent. Restaurant is noisy and we were seated right next to others - hard to talk and hear -not very romantic.

We were late due to a traffic tie-up, but they accommodated us. Service was slow. After an appetizer it was an hour after we arrived before the rest came and then only after I asked. Based on its temp. (luke warm for both our meals), it had been sitting in the kitchen for a while; the waitress had forgotten us. We didn't send the food back because we had a concert to get to. Food was nothing to speak of. Overwhelming blue cheese on escargots, overly sauced venison, a very average tomato sauce covering half the steak, half the potatoes and all the asparagus. Food would have been good except for all the sauces. Final blow was when the waitress forgot to include the bottle of wine on our bill. Paying for that delayed us even further.

6 of us dined at Blue River Bistro on a Saturday night during the peak of tourist season. The Bistro was packed and very busy. We had the scallop appetizer that was very good but only 2 scallops, also had the mussels' and they were excellent with a more generous portion. The main courses were were very well prepared and presented the only complaint would be the noise level which made it impossible to talk with our fellow diners without raising our voices.

We were disappointed in the food. Perhaps it was what we ordered or someone had a bad hair day, but we were disappointed. We had Turkey sandwich and even tho turkey was cut off the bird and not deli turkey, it was flavorless; sandwich was uninspired, lettuce not fresh. Other person had flank steak gyro - again flavorless and uninspired.
