Diner Reviews
  • "Went for happy hour, 2 for one martinis and 2 for one appetizers. Small place, recently redone, noisy as others have stated, but not terrible. Appetizers and drinks very good, but not excellent. Price value excellent!"

  • "Blue River Bistro has a nice variety menu, great specials and service. We loved the Tiger Shrimp appetizer (especially the dipping sauce), and the bacon wrapped scallops. Our server was perfectly attentive and helpful with our choices. We can recommend this restaurant with confidence to our friends and family. We will be back soon!"

  • "Blue River Bistro has ALWAYS been a great locals restaurant as the food is excellent with large portions."

  • "We spend a lot of time in Breckenridge during the summer and this is always one of my favorite places. I love lunch and dinner and their late night Happy Hour menu is wonderful! Their martinis are so creative and are very good! I also feel like you get a lot for your money here. The staff is always very nice and accommodating. I'd recommend this to anyone!"

  • "It was so noisy that I had to cover my ears. Could not hold a conversation with friends. Food was mediocre. Staff was surely."

  • "One of several restaurants recommended by a Breckenridge resident for my family while visiting for a few days. Menu has a wide variety of appetizers, salads and entrees. IWhile the menu has an Italian slant (lots of pastas and traditional Italian preparations) Blue River Bistro seems to hit many different styles. They have a great variety of meat, fish, chicken as well as vegetable entrees. I tasted the tenderloin, chicken Parmesan, tortellini, and fettuccine. All were savory, seasoned and well balanced. Equally suitable for couples, groups and families with kids."

  • "Excellent reasonable priced food. Prompt friendly service. Can be noisy when the musician is playing.i had the salmon which was first rate and my son had the rib eye steak which he said was delicious but was a hefty portion. The mozzarella tomato salad was also excellent as was the bruschetta.the outside seating is pleasant for lunch and early evening dining but can become chilly in the later evening, so bring a warm jacket."

  • "I came for dinner a little later on a Monday evening (8:30) and found the place to be energetic with a very hip feel. We were seated along a long banquette along the wall with the other tables a little close. I was worried it would be too busy to have a special dinner out but it ended up being perfect! We were able to have intimate conversation and still feel like we were part of something. There was a great vibe. It felt nice to be in happening place in town that felt alive at a non-prime dinner time. The food was absolutely outstanding as well. I think our server's name was Renee. She timed everything perfectly and the evening had a great flow to it. I definitely recommend the Bistro!"

  • "Nice restaurant in a beautiful town. Staff was friendly and personable. However, we were not told of unavailable items when we were seated, and 2 of the 4 people at our table had to change their entree choices when the waitress took our order. I ordered the chicken Marsala and thought it rather bland tasting, but I am from Louisiana where we kick things up a notch in the seasoning department. I would give this place another try before I cross it off my list."

  • "We had a delicious wedding dinner @ Blue River. The staff treated us with special care recognizing the importance of the dinner for us. We had our first New Year's Eve Dinner together there many years ago, so it was a sentimental return and lived up to all our expectations. Thanks to Blue River Bistro and Staff."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Blue River Bistro. We came up for one-night getaway and this was the perfect dinner choice. The wine was great and everything we ate awesome! And we decided on what we want to try next time already! The creme brulee was amazing!!!"

  • "Blue River was a great location for a ladies night out. Service was spectacular and the food was fair, more selection would be welcome. The restaurant is a bit on the noisy side. Be sure to request a table away from the band on jazz nights as it can be difficult to hear your fellow diners. Overall our experience was a good one."

  • "We dined here with a group of 4. We absolutely loved the food; especially Brie and Spinach and Artichoke apps we ordered. However, we had to leave as soon as we could. It was so loud in there and there wasn't even a band playing. We commented many times to each other that if they would just lower the ceiling the noise level wouldn't be as bad. Our heads and ears were hurting for hours."

  • "We've been to the Blue River Bistro many times and the food was always good but the acoustics were poor which made the restaurant noisy. This was our first visit since the entire inside was remodeled. Unfortunately, the owners did nothing to dampen the noise during the remodel. On the plus side, the food and service are still outstanding. I had the Linguine Sicily which was a spicy blend of seafood and pasta, and was tremendous."

  • "Wanted nice place for anniversary and found on Open Table. Were we pleased! Great food and wonderful service."

  • "The noise from the bar carried throughout the restaurant causing everyone to talk over everyone.. And that was at 5:45, I imagine it is louder later. The appetizers were good but the chicken my wife had was poorly prepared and had a few inedible pieces. The portions were large but I would have been happier with smaller portions with more care in preparation. One thing I was happy with was the aesthetics, they did put thought into making the food lookgood. I wouldn't suggest for a romantic night out but maybe an after bar stop. "

  • "We took our mom up to Breck for a surprise birthday weekend and had dinner here. She's allergic to chocolate so instead of the chocolate cake they would usually bring at the end (which did look very good) they gave us two flutes of champagne. I got the mahi mahi and it was amazing. The carrots were particularly great. All four distinct entrees that we ordered, including the chef's special, were outstanding. Quantity, quality and temperature were all perfect. "

  • "We have eaten here before. The food is very good and service always excellent. This evening we ran into Prom Night. The restaurant was very noisy with prom goers. We will return"

  • "Enjoyed the atmosphere, the music, and the food. Service was great."

  • "Ate here last Friday and it was amazing. The appetizers, salads, and entrees were excellent. The dessert was good as well - and it was 'on the house' as we were celebrating a birthday. They've redone their seating which is better than it used to be. Definitely visit this restaurant when in Breckenridge - it is one of the best in Colorado."
    Dined on 4/18/2014
  • "The food and serivce were top notch but the close seating and the very high noise level made it all but impossible to hold a conversation. We and the folks at the tables next to us had to shout and thus we all overheard each others attempts at conversation. They really, really need to find a way to add some ceiling baffles or accousitc absorbing tiles or something to cut down on the noise. The decor was beautiful and the food wonderful but hard to enjoy when I get a headache every time I have been to your restaurant."
    Dined on 4/13/2014
  • "Love going to this restaurant - typically always a stop when in town. Remodel looks great. Only downside latest visit - the noise level is now through the roof. Not a quiet / romantic stop anymore, it appears. Do recommend and will go again, but with different expectations."
    Dined on 4/12/2014
  • "Although the service and food are good, this restaurant has the worst acoustics of anywhere I have ever eaten. We were seated on the back wall of the dining room. There is a high ceiling with no type of soundproof tiles etc, so the room echoes all conversations. On top of that there is music playing which you can barely hear, the noise level escalates having to talk above all. Terrible, if you want to hear your friend/date do NOT dine here! The food is decent, and the service good, but not sure it is worth the frustration of deafening conversation."

  • "We came on a Thursday evening and were surprised to hear a jazz trio with a vocalist performing. We were seated at a cozy banquet by the window and I was able to look out on the street and the mountain. Our server was excellent, and made very good suggestions of the very good duck breast special and the delicious ruby trout over farrow. As we checked out the wine list we spotted a chianti from Tuscany where we had just enjoyed a wine tasting. We had to order it and we were transported back to Tuscany! We look forward to returning to this gem of a restaurant. ."

  • "This place is a great place for brunch. It has been totally redecorate/renovated in the last year, much more open, much noisier, but. Beautifully re-done."
    Dined on 3/30/2014
  • "Food was outstanding as usual. Service a little slower than normal with several other large parties also being seated for early dinner. Waittress was fantastic though and even brought a glass of wine on the house as an apology for the long wait. Couple of new dishes today that were also fantastic. Only sad that they dind't currently have their fantastic quinoa salad,"

  • "Dinner is always delicious, and the atmosphere is fun. Lunch is actually a favorite, too. Sandwiches and soups are absolutely fabulous. Sit at the bar and watch sports while you eat."

  • "The food is been consistently good. Fish dishes are done with creativity. Good for gluten free/and/or vegetarian people as they can substitute if needed."
    Dined on 3/10/2014
  • "Also the calamari....the other food was not that impressive and the ribeye was not good at all. For those of us who were having martinis it made up for the food."

  • "We have dined at BRB three times.Great food but very poor service. We were served our main courses 15 mins apart on our last visit. Also we were finally handed a check for twice for what it should have been. The final insult. Not what you expect from this type of restaurant. The tables are too close together and the live music is too loud.A number of new and better restaurants have opened up in Breck and give a superior. dining experience"

  • "I went to the bistro for my birthday and it was excellent. Food was great and, for such a busy night, the service was attentive and on point!"
    Dined on 3/7/2014
