Diner Reviews
  • "This was a lovely buffet but quite expensive. There was seafood but no fowl of any kind unless you consider the fried chicken at the chicken and waffles as fowl. Next time I will eat at one of the other restaurants at the Grove Park Inn because it was not worth the price when you are someone that does not overeat."

  • "We invited our friends form Knoxville to join us for a dinner at Blue Ridge Dining Room. We all enjoyed the food, especially the crab legs, fille mignon, and grilled vegetables. The wine was excellent. Should I say that we ordered the second bottle? We were also able to watch the fire works in downtown Ashville. It was a spectacular dinner."

  • "Really enjoyed the seafood buffet. Good selection at the salad section. We were seated in a quiet area with a wonderful view next to the window. Service was really good."

  • "We live in FL and have had the buffet 4 other times. One year we drove their from FL just for an anniversary dinner. The menu/food has gone from spectacular to just good. The crab cakes were not very tasty and the salmon was dry. The service on the other hand was excellent."

  • "My boyfriend and I were staying at the Grove Park Inn and ate at the Saturday night Prime Rib Buffet. It was delicious. So many options for cold appetizers, warm soups and entrees buffet, and a delicious dessert buffet. Overlooked the entire inn's property."

  • "The food was very good. I was there for the prime rib buffet. The prime rib was good but it was only 1 of several entries. A good variety of salads, and other entrees to choice from. Everything was good. Food spread out so people were not crowded. Best part it the view from the huge windows overlooking the golf course, and with a view of Asheville and the mountains. A very pleasurable evening."

  • "When my sister agreed to fly to Asheville for her first visit, my wife and I quickly made a reservation for dinner at the Grove Park Inn in this lovely restaurant. The Friday night seafood buffet featured a fabulous array of hot and cold seafood including a fantastic fish taco station and freshly prepared mussels that were a genuine highlight. Coupled with Asheville's finest views, the Blue Ridge Dining room buffet is a can't-miss choice."

  • "This is a great place for 'brunch'. It is served from noon until 2:00 p.m., so later than usually found for a brunch. There is a huge selection and several stations of made to order food such as omelets and crepe suzettes. There are 3 rooms of food - cold collections from salad to fruit to peeled shrimp, hot food with everything for breakfast plus things like smoked Gouda mac & cheese and sliced ham, then the third room with a truly outstanding selection of deserts. Everything was wonderful including the service. The dining room is on the back of the hotel several stories up with a very lovely view of the grounds and the mountains in the distance."

  • "I was surprised by the lack of lunch entrees. With a noon seating not everyone wants breakfast items. The ham was delicious, the chicken was good but that were the only two non breakfast offerings. No beef or seafood. Shame on you GPI."

  • "I couldn't have asked for a more enjoyable time than I had at The Blue Ridge Dining Room. The decorations were marvelous, the food superb, and the service fabulous. You have an ideal hotel and staff. I don't think we'll ever forget our dinner since it was our 14th anniversary and my husbands 71st birthday. It is nice to see that The Grove Park Inn is GAY friendly."

  • "The food, service, view and atmosphere were awesome! We took my Mom for Mother's Day Brunch and it couldn't have been better. We drove from Lexington, SC and it was worth the drive. "

  • "If you want to overwhelm your senses, and enjoy a huge selection of fabulous choices, while making your mother feel special, the mother's day brunch in the Blue Ridge Dining Room is for you! Always have enjoyed weekend breakfast or brunch at the Blue Ridge Dining Room, an Asheville gem."
    Dined on 5/11/2014
  • "The food for the mother's day brunch was basically luke warm to cold in all the hot serving dishes. The only hot food I found was the omelet bar. There was a very limited amount of cheese available. There was only 1 kind of meat at the carving station. For the money this meal was way over priced."

  • "We had family gathered in NC for a graduation from WCU on Saturday and Mother's Day. We came from Florida, Indiana, Eastern North Carolina and Asheville. What a better place to gather to end the weekend than the beautiful Grove Park Inn. The food was fabulous, staff cheerful and attentive, and the view from the Blue Ridge dining room is spectacular. Seating 14 people ( 5 - 72 ) can be a challenge, but Colleen worked with us and found a perfect spot. We enjoyed the grounds following the brunch and said our farewells. We will be back! "

  • "We were concerned that the Mother's Day brunch would be overcrowded, but the Grove Park did a nice job of controlling numbers of diners. Food was fantastic - and extremely plentiful! Servers were attentive, any requests met with prompt responses."

  • "This was definitely not your typical buffet with dried out eggs & soggy home fries. There was everything from a gourmet omelet station, to a seafood bar with oysters on the half shell, to a variety of salads, and hot options like pan seared trout & citrus braised pork loin. They even had a mini kids buffet with homemade pizza and chicken fingers. The dessert room was something amazing like it was out of Willy Wonka including jars of old fashioned candy, every pie & mini cake imaginable, and an ice cream bar with any topping you might want. Great job to everyone at Grove Park for making Mother's Day special for all the moms!"

  • "It's the best location I have found for timing the food and service and location for your teens prom experience. The staff is easy to work with to add extra decor to the table to personalize it and make it even more special."

  • "Enjoyed the food and the friendly staff. Glad that you have "stepped up" in both categories. The apple/cheddar salad was outstanding. "

  • "I have been coming to the Saturday night Prime Rib Buffet at least once a year for 3 years. It is a little expensive, but the food has always been amazing and combined with the spectacular views and great service it has been worth it. This year the view and the service were great as always, but the food has changed. Most of the choices on the hot portion of the buffet were either sub-par or just plain bad. The prime rib was mostly fat and gristle, the edible portion was a little tough. The fish was bitter and quite fishy tasting. The lamb was very fatty and tough. The chicken was mushy. The roasted summer vegetables (zucchini, squash and carrots) were almost raw. The rice and couscous dishes were very dry. We probably won't be back."

  • "Buffet is worth the visit. But, if you are not a hotel guest, be prepared to be treated as second class. Check and make sure how many special events are scheduled at the inn when you make your reservation (there wwre at least 6-8 going on when we were there) ..the parking is non-existent unless you valet (due to so many special events being held that nigjt). So ladies, don't wear heels unless you are good in hiking in them!. And come after sunset. The view is spectacular but the staff told us something was broken and they couldn't adjust the blinds. ..and hot!!! Each time we inquired about a situation..the first question they asked was....are you an overnight quest. .it shouldn't manner. But our waitress still made the night special for us"

  • "This restaurant is absolutely beautiful and the views really are breathtaking (as corny as that sounds)! What a pleasant place to dine while looking out over the Appalachian mountains. Very professional service. Overflowing with southern hospitality!"
    Dined on 4/20/2014
  • "First of all, the views of the mountains from the restaurant are stunning, the service is impeccable, and finally, the food was absolutely wonderful. There are not as many entree-type items as we have seen before, but what is there was just top-notch. There was more than enough for our party of six to be fully satisfied. I can't even begin to list everything, but here are a few highlights: crab eggs Benedict, maple blueberry sausage, potato casserole, cheeses, smoked fish, boiled jumbo shrimp, smoky bay scallops, eggs and omelets to order, carving station with ham or roast beef, and some of the best salads we have had anywhere. We would definitely go back again. This was not our first visit, nor will it be our last."

  • "Having the chef and manager come to our table, introduce themselves and visit was very pleasant and emphasized the importance of customer service."
    Dined on 4/20/2014
  • "We went to the Blue RIdge Dinning room for Easter and really enjoyed it The hot food was hot and good and the cold food was cold as it should be. Enjoyed trying new types of food the different flavors of sausage and the type of eggs that were cooked. The omlets were very special and liked being able to see the different types of things that could be added to it. The deserts were outstanding but just too many so could not try them all. Thanks for making it a wonderful memory!"
    Dined on 4/20/2014
  • "Overall the Easter Brunch was very nice. The service and staff were outstanding. This years brunch buffet was very good but not nearly as many choices as in previous years were offered. There were chooses of chicken , fish and pork, but many items were over salted for my taste (which reminded me of regular hotel food). The carving station only offered ham and the salad bar was lacking in items. There was a small and limited cheese selection. The variety of desserts, fruits and sundae bar was very satisfying for the sweet tooth. This was not the outstanding Blue Ridge Dining Room experience we have had in the past, there have definitely been changes made, but not for the better."

  • "Went for the seafood buffet and with the exception of the deserts the food was below par and not worth the price. Views are great and service was pleasant but all the pluses marred by the food quality."
