  • "I took a work colleague to Blue and we had a delicious meal. She had the pasta with scallops and pork ragu. I had the duck. Both were fantastic. . .plated beautifully, excellent taste and the accompaniments really set off the proteins. The service was fantastic. Our server was attentive but not hovering. The atmosphere was pleasant and my colleague and I were able to have a business discussion without yelling at one another. Blue never ceases to please."

  • "I heard rave reviews so I couldn't wait to try it, but I was not impressed one bit. I ordered the trout "stuffed" with bacon which was simply just a trout fillet cut in half with two slices of bacon in between, for the price I could have done that at home. My green beans were cold and I didnt taste any brown butter that they were said to be sauteed in and on top of that all of our food came out lukewarm. Besides that the restaurant was beautiful and the service was good. Maybe I'll go back for a drink but probably won't be eating there again."

  • "Ladies night out to Belk Theater so we decided to have early dinner. We all decided on the special fix 3 course menu for Theater attendees. The Squach cream was exquisite, the steak but most of all the boneless ribs were just perfect as of taste and quantity and the dessert, just mine, not my friends was burned on the top (creme brulee) but the inside was as expected. Loved it and cant wait to visit it again. Service was as good as the food and Malbec wine had great aroma and taste."

  • "My sister and I enjoyed a late night dinner and picked Blue because there was Jazz playing (enjoyed that too!) We had the trout and red snapper - both excellent! The presentation - 4-5 star. I hate going to restaurants where the noise level is so high you shout to be heard, this is not the case at Blue. The restaurant was 3/4 full and many people at the bar, but we could still hear each other. The main dining room is a little bit sterile, it's just a lot of table's sitting in a room. Could use some improvement in that area. Overall very good!"

  • "Service was good and very polite. Waited until everyone was finished before clearing entre plates which is a rarity now, nicely done. Wine list is quite good but quite pricey. Meals were very good, well presented and also above average in price. Very good experience but would save for a special occasion"

  • "We were immediately seated after checkin. Our server popped by to intro himself and review the menu. While in process of reviewing an "unwanted guest" crawled by. The server stepped away to get something to kill it. Apologized and offered to move us. I found it a bit unnerving but chose not to move. While we continued to check out the menu a different guest crawled across the table. This time I killed it. I checked availability for another restaurant. Nothing was available. I had pretty much lost my appetite, but we chose to stay. Moved across the restaurant. No near by walls for anything to crawl up on. The little food I ate, I looked at closely. Management was very apologetic. The meal was free. Just not a good nite for me"

  • "The service was very good and the food was excellent. Wine prices are a bit high. We will definitely return there when we visit Charlotte. By chance , we learned that they had live music (jazz) that evening and it was very enjoyable."

  • "From the unique crust of homemade bread to a very ample and eclectic wine selection the food will seduce you with the right balance of spices, reductions and fresh local ingredients. The service is classy and the enology knowledge of our server was commendable. A place like this MUST enforce a dress code. This fine establishment should draw a line for the likes of fast food dressers. Will come anytime again"

  • "Here for my 40th. High expectations and not dissapointed. The Monkfish and mussles special sounded terrific but opted for Duo of Boar. Same animal two flavor experiences. Blue cheese stuffed olives in a martini, app in itself. Calamari w peppadew and olives, wow. Larry, our server, was terrific, knowledgeable and efficient. Will return."

  • "As always the food and options were great. Only disapointment was the service was not typical of Blue. We were not attended to often and poured our own wine several times. Not a big deal but noticable for a Saturday 5:45pm reservation. My wife ordered a martini to start that she said tasted off. After a few sips she decided she would not continue due to some odd flavor. We told waiter and left it at that. As we continued eating the table next to us who were not seated when my wife returned her drink compalined about the Martini tasting odd and returned theirs. I mentioned to the waiter they had returned their Martini for an identical issue. Did not matter, we paid $14.00 for a bad Martini."

Some standard food entrees prepared with creative flourishes plus some enticing seasonal offerings. All set in a stylish but not stuffy setting. This was a A++ dinner experience!"

The Mediterranean sampler platter was great and enough to share. Entrees were very generous portions. Overall we had an excellent dining experience! Expensive but worth it."

  • "This restaurant has a great location, good food and a broad wine list. Unfortunately the service can be extremely hit-or-miss. It took forever to get a bottle of wine, bread arrived late, and that was just the beginning. There are better options and this may be our last visit for a while."

We settled on the Boar which was excellent. it was tender just as the waiter said it would be and without being gamey. The homemade bread was wonderful. The risotto and chard complemented the boar well. Didn't have time for dessert as we had to run to the show. Had a wonder"

  • "The wild boar is hands down the best dish in Charlotte. My husband and I always want to try the new menu items but always end up ordering the same thing! The wait staff is professional and knowledgable. We asked for a wine suggestion and provided a price range, and our waiter found an amazing unique bottle to celebrate my husbands birthday at a reasonable price. Dining at blue always fela like a special occasion."

  • "The boar duo was wonderful, or so my husband said, BUT the divers scallop appetizer had him wanting to lick his plate - but he didn't, thank goodness - cuz I want to go back! My chicken tagine was tasty and a very large serving. The sticky toffee pudding was reminiscent of the UK. We will go back soon."

  • "Went for a anniversary dinner. Looking for a good piece of fish or steak. Ordered sea bass which was nothing special. Wife ordered scallops and pork. Both were cooked properly but lacked special flavors. They did offer complimentary desert because of a special occasion. The cream brulee was good. After dinner went to the lounge to listen to music. Overpriced after dinner drinks including an of brand amaretto. Our second and last dinner at this restaurant ."

  • "This was my second time dining at Blue. Both times, the food was amazing. Both time...the noise level was almost deafening. This was not a romantic dinner for two on my end, but rather a nice meal for my mom for a late Valentine's Day. BUT, regardless of what the reason was, a diner at a place this pricey should not have to yell across a table to talk. In addition to that, the patron next to me felt the need to announce to everyone on our side of the restaurant that she was inebriated, and she didn't understand how FOUR drinks could make her THREE sheets to the wind. . Service was not good. Waiter spent way too much time chatting and not enough serving. Waited 30 min after meal for check, then another 20...we paid/left."

  • "The food was good, if somewhat overpriced, and the service was okay but not exceptional. The menu contained some unique and difficult to find items for the Charlotte area (eg- Foie Gras) and the wine list was extensive (also rather overpriced) but unfortunately, as hopeful as we might have been, Blue wasn't the exceptional dining experience we had been seeking in the Charlotte Metro area. Aside from the McNinch House, I'm coming to the conclusion that it doesn't exist. Understanding completely that this is Charlotte, and not Los Angeles, NYC, Dallas or Atlanta, I still contend that the Charlotte area would support a top tier restaurant. No disrespect to Blue intended, but we expected (perhaps unrealistically) more."

  • "Food was great. Our table wasn't ready for our 7pm reservation so we sat at the bar and ordered drinks. Our table was ready before the drinks were served and the waitor was not pleased that we already had ordered drinks. There was a long delay with the drinks and the order was incorrect."

  • "We hard early reservations on Valentines Day one day after the city closed down for a snow storm. They did a nice job getting it all together after the storm. We were seated in the back room right by the entrance to the kitchen. Lots of noise, including shouting back there detracted from the ambiance. It was not a romantic setting, at least where we were seated! Maybe different if we were not delegated to the entrance to the kitchen! Service was fine and our waiter apologized for the lack of ambiance! Food was good, I had a whole sea bass, table carved! It wasn't as moist and plump as I enjoy! I guess the ambiance just interfered too much! ! Probably will go back but not accept the table location, and there isn't shouting in the kitchen."

  • "First , valet was great it was freezing and we where 3 minutes until our reservation time. We where sat right away. The server I feel listened to my allergies to let the kitchen know to keep me safe. The crab/lobster cake and scallop app. was like candy to me loved them both. The dinner I had was beef and pot roast and scallop poto pie. It was perfect and the bread with butter with olive in it was the cherry on the cake. After dinner we sat at the bar to listen to the music which was enjoyable. Thank you for a wonderful evening ."

  • "Invited 5 couples to spend night in downtown Charlotte . Made reservations @ Blue. No one enjoyed their meal . Waiter was very nervous acting- made terrible dinner suggestions etc. I was so embarrassed because I had suggested the Restuarant . I' ll never go back & such a shame because great location & great atmosphere."

  • "Went out on a limb and went here on the recommendation of a friend... and boy am I glad I did! The staff are friendly and professional, and the food is AMAZING! While the menu mainly focuses on seafood (Hence the name Blue), they also serve many other wonderful dishes as well such as Duo of Wild Boar. Wine list was extensive, and the bar had just about everything you could want for an adult cocktail with dinner. As an added bonus, even their desserts were superb! Will definitely be going here again for special occasions in the future."

  • "The service was good, the environment was clean, the atmosphere was great, and the food was on par...just way overpriced, especially as it related to portion sizes across the board from appetizers to entrees. Definitely strayed us away from dessert. The live music was a nice touch. Not suggesting that I would not go back but, it would be just for drinks and the music. Our parties will dine elsewhere and possibly end the evening with a drink and some music."
