Blue Restaurant - Charlotte, NC
The Halibut entree is as goodThe Halibut entree is as good as food can be. Absolutely outstanding!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day BrunchWe went to Blue for their Mother's Day Brunch special. This way, we got to bring our kids with us to an otherwise not-so-kid-friendly restaurant. We loved it. I realize that the special buffet brunch does not necessarily reflect as to how a normal dinner would taste and that the food would probably taste different (better) during a regular dinner service, but we were completely satisfied with our buffet brunch. I would say that by dining here for our first time during the brunch buffet, it has piqued my interest as to how a dinner would go and I'm already trying to plan a date night to get back and try it out. The decor is smart, the layout is open, and the staff was friendly. Can't wait to come back for dinner.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Mother's Day BrunchGreat food and quality service for a good price. They had a variety of dishes fit for all ages and tastes.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways FantasticMy wife and I went there the 1st time for a date night and we both loved the electricity of the place and the food and service was exceptional. Decided to take the whole family for brunch and celebrate Mother's day and we once again were not disappointed. Great resturant, maybe a little pricey but everyone deserves a splurge once in a while.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGoodthe food was good but not great. The wait staff was awesome. My husband and I were not so impressed with the food but it was good. The hailibut was fantastic but everything else was just so. The scallops were great but for 12.95 you get 2? Spending over a 100.00 for dinner--just felt it should have been a WOW factor but wasn't.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMexcellent but......felt a bit rushed during our dinner date. Food was delicious but was delivered way to fast barely finished our apps when the entree was brought out. We felt like they were trying to turn the table ASAP to get the next group of people in.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat night outthe food was very good and the service by our waiter ( Juan ) was outstanding. We would definitely go back.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMI had a variety of dishes.I had a variety of dishes. From the foie gras to the mediterranean sampler to the mushroom bolognese, eveything was absolutely superb. The portions are hearty so I had to skip dessert.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good restaurant in aVery good restaurant in a city full of very good restaurants. Our server read our desired pace of service which is less common these days and made the experience that much better. Overall a very good experience.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service, great food!Great service, great food! This place was excellent!!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat! We had dinner at Blue for an extra special night out before going to the Belk Theater, across the street, to see Chris Botti. The food was tremendous, outstanding wine selection and our server, Scott, was beyond terrific ! My wife had the wild boar and I the halibut. Not choices we'd normally make, but glad we did. Both dishes were perfect ! A new favorite port wine was found also, Six Grapes. I would recommend Blue for any occasion.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderfulTook my fiancé out for her birthday. Dinner was delicious. All the food and drinks were delivered promptly. The server did a fantastic job. My only negative comment would be, there was a loud table directly behind us. People should learn how to behave in nice restaurants and the restaurant should have a way to deal with them.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect for a business dinnerBig fan of the martini menu selections. The Pan Seared Hudson Valley Foie Gras is WONDERFUL! My duck breast was cooked to perfection but the the leg was a little too salty. My fellow diners were raving about the Duo of Wild Boar. Both the Cake di Chocolate and Sticky Toffee Pudding were deliciously good choices. With all of the new uptown dining options I'm glad we rediscovered this gem.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food, apps and atmosphereThe main course menu is very good. Short ribs are great, pork chop is outstanding. Other great seasonal specialties taking advantage of local produce. My wife ordered Bronzini, fish was great, but have them hold the sauce, too oily. Arrancini, ( rice balls with peas and prosciutto) are the best, anywhere!4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways Excellent...We eat at Blue before every Charlotte Symphony performance and find it to be consistently top-notch. To give variety, they change the menu with the seasons, except for the 6-7 dishes that are such favorites that they are always available. We find the dishes to be imaginative, flavorful, and visually appealing. The servers know much of the wine list, which is extensive and covers the full price range, The service is consistently excellent, and the music is soft so one can easily converse. We just keep going back...4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMOur server, Kyle was fantastic! Our server, Kyle was fantastic! Blue's scallops are hands down, the best in Charlotte. My wife always (literally) orders the Beef Tenderloin ala Blue every visit but deviated and tried the pork offered on their seasonal menu. She is obsessed!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was perfect, fromEverything was perfect, from the martinis to the bread to the salads to the entrees to the last decadent bites of dessert. Service was impeccable, as our waiter took care to ensure we got our dessert orders in in time to enjoy and still make the show over at the Belk Theater. We will be back, and we probably won't wait for the next time we have tickets!4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMI really enjoyed the restaurant,I really enjoyed the restaurant, the food was good, the wait time was perfect, the atmosphere was nice, and the waiter was excellent.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first time atThis was our first time at Blue, and we will definitely go again. We started with the Taste of the Mediterranean appetizer, which was excellent - hummus, tapenade, white bean salad, Greek olives, black bean dip, pepper dews, and dolmades. This could easily be someone's main course, it was so large. For the main course, we ordered Chicken Tagine and a grouper special. Both entrees were delicious. Our server, Fergus, was great - he helped with the wine, as the wine list was a book, and he described the different entrees, and was very attentive the entire evening.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was excellent. They alsoFood was excellent. They also had a four piece jazz band playing. My wife and I got there late because of a flight delay. They very accommodating. Will defenetly repeat.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMEaten here four times in theEaten here four times in the past two years while traveling. Always great. Always dependable. Service is top notch. Food is never a let down!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMFrom the outstanding wineFrom the outstanding wine list, to the perfectly cooked scallops, to the poached pear that was a beautiful balance of sweet and tart, to the entrée of wild boar prepared 2 ways, to the impeccable presentation of every dish; this meal was flawless. I only wish i had saved some room for dessert, that menu looked equally amazing.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's been a while. Food wasIt's been a while. Food was really outstanding. Service the best in town. I missed you Blue! I will have to make a point to go downtown more often to visit!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMKeri, our server, was excellent.Keri, our server, was excellent. She had good menu recommendations, was attentive, but not too much, and kept us on schedule for the symphony. Great personality.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been twice now andWe have been twice now and the food has been very good both times. The service was a bit lacking the last time we were at Blue, but they made up for this evening. We will definitely keep this on our usual Uptown rotation.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst visit was on EasterFirst visit was on Easter Sunday for Brunch. The food was wonderful and the selections were amazing. The presentations were appealing. We did not feel rushed or felt that we could not enjoy our meal and conversation. It was crowded and moving through the area was sometimes a challenge, but that is to be expected on a holiday. I look forward to coming back the next time I'm in town.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a nice Easter brunch.Had a nice Easter brunch. Selection/variety was nice. Enjoyed the jazz.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice holiday brunch,Very nice holiday brunch, with some interesing dishes alongside the traditional carving station.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMEvery time I go to ChalrotteEvery time I go to Chalrotte I always come to Blue. Great experience every time. The server this time had a difficult time being quick to bring drinks to the table. It should not take 15 plus minutes to get a bottle of wine. I will definitely be back but would not want that server again.
The bar staff was fantastic all around!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat sceneFood is amazing and live jazz music on Saturday night.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were pleasantly surprisedWe were pleasantly surprised by just how good Blue really was. Very quiet. Attentive service. Great food. Reasonably priced.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first visit andThis was our first visit and we will come back. The menu was interesting. The waiter we had was very knowledgeable and did an excellent job. We had made reservations, but arrived early. We were able to be seated immediately. The martinis from the bar were excellent. The wine list was interesting, but we were enjoying the martinis too well.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AM2nd visit, seated in a small2nd visit, seated in a small enclosed area in front of the bar so it was less noisy than main dining area. Scallops appetizer was fantastic. Bison and Boar were very flavorful and well prepared. Ordered a couple martini's that were good as well and the wine pairing suggestion was right on.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe didn't know that MarchWe didn't know that March 16th was the big pub crawl and it took us 40 mins to park. The restaurant kindly held our table although we were seated by the kitchen along a rail which was probably the worst seat in the restaurant but heck we were 45 mins late for our reservation I was glad we were seated at all. Food was good. Since we were now rushed for time the waitress suggested we split a salad and put our entree orders in. The salad was excellent but too small to split. We each got about 5 arugula leaves and some toppings. I recommend the salad but not to share. I had the scallops which were just okay. My husband had the wild boar and he really enjoyed it. Service was excellent. We'll be back when we have more time.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a very good experience. We had a very good experience. Food was good, staff was helpful and timely. My only criticisism was that it was a little too dark.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMBlue never disappoints -myBlue never disappoints -my friends and I come often for their monthly wine/food pairings which are outstanding.
