  • "On our recent trip to Charlotte, we tried Blue and with great service from our waiter Mike D who guided us through the menu and wine pairings we enjoyed a great evening of dining. Started with scallops wrapped in prosciutto (as good as I have ever had) we also tried the lobster/crab cakes that were very good. An heirloom tomato and mozzarella salad was tasty as well. Then we enjoyed the main course, the Alaskan halibut was good and the duo of wild boar on a chestnut risotto was outstanding. The chef also treated us to a taste of the lamb belly which was a special treat and I will try on my next visit. An overall great evening of dining."

  • "My spouse and I were visiting Charlotte and decided to visit Blue based on the "best restaurants" list produced by a local publication. Unfortunately, the food was not great. Our waiter recommended the scallops, and they were touted as a signature appetizer on the menu, but what arrived were two tiny scallops wrapped in pork and dripping in butter sauce that left a lot to be desired. Our Mediterranean platter salad course tasted over refrigerated with the hummus flat and stiff. I ordered the chicken tagine which not only wasn't true to the morrocan preparation, the chicken arrived on top of boiled vegetables floating in flavorless water. My husband got two single lamb chops with a plateful of tasteless mashed potatoes. We were disappointed"

I am a server myself and I must say I do not believe that I was given the best service, I watched as other servers attended to their tables and I envied the care I saw given. I try never ever to say things of this nature, but I do believe it was because I am an African American. Although I did enjoy the food very, very much; will I ever eat at Blue again? Well that is up in the air."

  • "Visiting from Raleigh, we were looking for a restaurant in downtown Charlotte where we could enjoy great food and pleasant ambiance. Perusing OpenTable for options, we settled on Blue instead of a steakhouse (we were intrigued by the menu, especially the Wild Boar). We were not disappointed, in fact, we enjoyed our meal and evening so much that we are already planning our next visit. The wine list was certainly impressive, as was the food. We ordered the lamb and the Italian appetizers. For dinner, we had the halibut (two of us did) beef tenderloin, and yes, the Wild Boar. Each dish was fabulous! The portion sizes were perfect (if you have a BIG appetite, you will want an appetizer and salad). If you are in Charlotte, try Blue!"

I highly recommend their scallop appetizer. springing for the cheese plate, Wild Boar and of course there famous Sticky Pudding! The background music provided by musicians in the lounge added just enough sound to provided nice back drop for our celebration."

  • "Sea Bass was awesome as was the scoop app. My wife like her trout. I love the sea bass so much it is hard to stray. Katie our server was terrific and really made the evening enjoyable. I have changed my eating patterns and now eat mostly fish and Blue does have terrific fish. Really nice looking restaurant too. Always impressed with the service. Just wish the manager was a little friendlier. "

  • "From the appetizers to the dessert it was perfect. We started with Tega Hill’s Mixed Greens Salad, Pistachio tuile and goat cheese boursin, roasted tomatoes and a Banyuls vinaigrette and the Poached Pear and Baby Arugula Salad, with spiced walnuts, gorgonzola dolce and a Chianti reduction. My wife had their signature award winning Jumbo Diver Scallops, wrapped in prosciutto, sautéed crisp and served over a fava bean puree and topped with lemon marmalade and it measured up to the reviews. I had Trout a la Navarra, a trout fillet stuffed with Applewood bacon, pan-seared and served with butternut squash, baby green beans and lemon brown butter. Only thing I can say is wow! We finished the meal with their Sticky Toffee Pudding."

  • "In possessing a "live to eat" disposition and having had the fortune of traveling to many different countries and living in 4 of them- I've not had many experiences in which such a perfect storm of combined excellence merged together in one restaurant. From beginning to end each dish was outstanding, the wine list is extensive and the dimly lit ambience was enhanced by the live music (which was not too loud). The staff was very kind and helpful. The menu is diverse, yet not overbearing, and I could have easily opted for any entree on the list. The Bronzino my date and I ordered was cooked to perfection and the creme based sauce and risotto were delicious. My date and I had a superb time and we'll certainly be return customers. "

  • "Went with a group and we were impressed with everything that came out of the kitchen. Mike was our server and did an amazing job helping us navigate the menu and serving food. For appetizers, the scallops, crab/lobster cakes, and arancini were delicious. The boar was amazing, perfectly cooked and seasoned. Definitely one of the better dishes in town. I highly recommend this restaurant and will be returning. "

  • "We.eat at Blue every time we are in Charlotte ( two or three times a year) and have never been disappointed. The menu is limited, however we always have trouble picking something as there are so many good choices. Last night was no exception with five items that I would have liked to try. I had short ribs and hanger steak and my wife trout filled with bacon over butternut squash. Both dishes were outstanding. The short ribs were the best I can remember having at a resturaunt. We will definitely be back and plan to bring friends with us whoe enjoy great food. "

  • "Great ambience & outstanding service. Drinks and appetizers were delicious. Did not enjoy main entree- Mushroom Bolognese (pasta too thick and tasted like dough & not seasoned well). That's my only complaint. I'd surely go again just try another dish. "

  • "We dined at Blue as we usually do before attending Charlotte Symphony Concerts and had our usual excellent experience and meal. Their prawn dinner special was tasty and worth having again if they offer it. They also had several seasonal dinners on the menu that made choosing tough and will draw us back next time. The valet parking staff was the unexpected star of the evening. Due to a day trip from which we went directly to Blue, we had left an iPad and our symphony tickets in the car. We realized these errors at different times, and both times their staff quickly went to the car to retrieve the items for us. That's just typical of the great service we enjoy at Blue."

  • "Once again very good. We have eaten here many times and it has been pretty consistently good. We were seated next to a very noisy table and asked to be moved. No problem. Done with a smile. Thanks. Sea bass is always outstanding as is the scallops wrapped in panceta as an app. So good that it is hard to ever order anything else. "

  • "It was apparent to me and my date when we entered that the staff doesn't enjoy working there and the management doesn't respect their staff, train them or provide them with the resources that they need. The entrees were okay but nothing memorable other than the waitress struggling with my fish. And the ambiance of the bathrooms, kitchen doors and bickering staff was not something I would want to experience again. I never had a restaurant set an evenings mood back like Blue. Terrible time."

  • "My girlfriend and I had heard good things about Blue and we weren't disappointed. It being both of our first time at the restaurant the server was fantastic, he provided recommendations and never pressured us or made us feel rushed as I have experienced at other restaurants in the past. The food was delicious, be sure you try the chocolate lava cake! Overall it was a wonderful meal, a wonderful experience, and we will be back. "

  • "We went here for our anniversary, normally not a big deal, but were very pleased with the menu selection. Normally my husband struggles to find one or possibly two selections for main course but, he actually found several that sounded good. Appetizers were risotto balls and pan seared foie gras, perfect! Main courses were Moroccan Chicken, which was amazing, and Wild boar duo also terrific. Very reasonable for uptown fine dining. Only strange thing was that they call it Blue but, decor was red. Also loose the carpet in the main dining room, seems like a hotel put in some wood flooring! We will return."

  • "I thought that at 5:30 PM on a Saturday the restaurant would be mostly empty. Boy was I wrong! By 6 PM every table was taken! Definitely make reservations. Great food. They were geared up with a full complement of staff so even though the restaurant was full, service was still excellent."

  • "We chose Blue when my husband's boss came to town. The boss ordered the boar and loved it. My husband had the sea bass carved tableside and said it might have been the best fish he's ever eaten. Great experience. Blue has redeemed itself after an unfortunate meal last year, which had left us quite underwhelmed."

  • "We were seated in a booth, which I had requested a month ago when I made reservations. There were several available and we were seated at the last one all the way in the back at the drinks station. We had to request another booth and they moved us up 3 booths. The buffet did not offer any cream cheese with the smoked salmon and there was no cocktail sauce with the shrimp. We were told by our waiter that the restaurant does not put out cream cheese on the buffet and another waiter came to the table and told us that the restaurant does not stock cocktail sauce. I know for a fact that they do have cream cheese and cocktail sauce since it was on the buffet last year when we came to the Easter and Mother's Day brunch. "

  • "11:45 am reservations. Arrived 10 minutes early. Seated early in the Solarium. Food was standard brunch buffet with a good variety. Wait staff was very good. Attentive and responsive. Place was dark, except for the Solarium which was enclosed, street side, and well lighted. Restaurant layout not conducive for a brunch buffet. Will return but only for an evening dinner."
