Diner Reviews
  • "The food was amazing. The price was the opposite of amazing. Would go back for a special occasion."

  • "My husband & I have been to the Wayzata location many times, but this was our first time to Bloomington. The food was great, as was the service. The noise level was probably more energetic than usual, due to the championship hockey game (and since my husband wanted to sit in the bar area to watch the game). We will definitely dine here again."

  • "This was our first visit to Blue Point Bloomington (we are regulars at Blue Point Wayzata) and were very pleased with our dinner experience. We will definitely be back. Our favorite kind of food!!"

  • "This was a so-so restaurant. I don't feel the quality of the food was worth the price. For a seafood restaurant there wasn't a very big selection. I wouldn't choose to return."

  • "My wife and don't dine out regularly, but we do like to try different resteraunts. I saw the ad for Blue Point in the newspaper and knowing that my mother loves lobster, decided to treat her to a night out. Our server who's name was Correy, was outstanding. She was very helpful with the wine list, and she never seemed to be rushed. She took time to explain the menu andante suggestions, answered all of our questions. She made it a very enjoyable dining experience! We will definatly be back!"

  • "This was my first visit to Blue Point and would certainly return again. Went for an early dinner so the bar area was empty and fewer than ten other tables full. Very low noise level. Service was very good and the meals matched. Though I enjoyed my monk fish, I enjoyed my wife's swordfish even more. Excellent reason to return."

  • "The fish entrees were overpriced . The salad lifeless and uninteresting. The crab cake average. We would not return"

  • "We visited Blue Point to celebrate a birthday. The "birthday boy" was in the mood for oysters and steak. Blue Point delivered and the service was tremendous. We'd recommend Blue Point for anyone seeking seafood in the Edina/Bloomington area. The office complex ambience isn't great, but the restaurant/bar iteself is nice. Again, the food is very good and the service is excellent."

  • "This is a great place to meet clients for lunch. Food and service are great and you can actually hear your lunch partner without the ambient noise you find in other business lunch places in south metro."

  • "Service was barely acceptable. My meal: bacon wrapped cod with braised greens and citronette. Cod was good. Bacon was nearly raw and there was prep paper still on it. braised greens makes one think of spinach, kale, chard etc. What I got was lettuce. I kid you not- I got hot, cooked LETTUCE! Also, the dish was drowned in salt. I tried to eat it but it actually 'salt-burned' my tongue so badly it was hard to taste anything else. They offered us a dessert because of the paper issue and we ordered the 'fresh' bread pudding with raspberry mousse. We got a frozen lump of bread goo with no raspberry mousse. Sent it back and passed on their offer to replace it. My husband had the fish with mole as well as the clam chowder and liked them both."

  • "We have dined at this restaurant before, and the food & service was excellent. However, on this particular occasion we didn't feel the food was up to it's usual standard and service was slow. I don't know if they were unprepared for the volume of people or what. But it was a disappointing event. Like I said before, it has generally been a very good experience in the past and we would return again."

  • "My wife had been to the Wayazata location years ago, but neither of us had ever been to this restaurant and I think we were both blown away. The service was great and the food was excellent! Can't recommend the brussel sprouts highly enough. My wife had the blackened salmon with the white wine/butter sauce and it was delicious and I had the "mecoqua" (sp?), which was awesome especially if you like spice. We had the cheese plate appetizer, which was good, but lacked a little on the presentation/garnishes side compared to cheese plates we've had elsewhere, but the cheeses on the plate were still quite tasty. Definitely headed back!"

  • "My wife and I went for Valentine's Day '14 and it was horrible. We decided to get there 30 min early and have drink at the bar. It wasn't overly crowded when we arrived and were able to easily secure 2 seats at the bar. After waiting patiently for 7-8 minutes for the ONE bartender on staff that Valentine's Day evening I was finally able to get his attention and he said "give me a few minutes" in a very rude manner. That started to night off terribly and we would've gone somewhere else had everywhere not been already booked for Valentine's Day. Got to the dining room for dinner, 2 words: coat check. Jackets strewn everywhere over chairs. Our waitress was not knowledgeable and the entire staff appeared as if they didn't want to be there."

  • "Blue Point never disappoints. Being stuck in Las Vegas alone on Valentine's Day night I needed to make up with a nice dinner out the day after. Scallops and Tuna were perfectly prepared. Wine list is one of the best in the SW metro. By the glass options include some real winners like a Rombauer and a Miner chardonnay. Seems like you can always get a table at the Bloomington location. Great service too. The only possible knock is that it is in an office building, but who cares. Food is great!"

  • "Great location for a special night out. Reservation was a little hard to get as they booked pretty solid with Valentines day on a Friday, but being willing to eat just a touch ahead of the dinner rush worked out fine. Food was great, service was spot on, would highly recommend."

  • "Our meals were very good with many types of fresh fish and seasonings. For a nice place our server seemed somewhat less professional, and nervous. Several times she would stop by, we would ask a question, and she would go check on it and not come back for 10 minutes. It all worked out and we had a nice dinner at a slower pace."

  • "Here's how my first impression of this place played out: -Arrived at time of rez on V-day and was told "we're not quite ready for you.. it will be 10-15 minutes" No big deal, except there was nowhere to sit and the front of the house guy did absolutely nothing to compensate for the wait.. no "Let me take your coat".. no "Let me grab you a drink while you wait".. -We waited until 8p (7:30 rez) to finally be seated. Nothing offered at time of seating for the wait at all and at no point did anyone check in with us. -Once seated we waited again for our server, who was OK at best. The food was OK, which is the only reason I'm giving 2 Stars. -There are too many good restaurants in MSP that would of handled this better. I won't be back."

  • "We visit the location a few time a year for the food. The food is great but I wish they would have a larger selection of oysters. We visited on Valentine's day with another couple that has never been there before and they also enjoyed the food, the only complaint I have about that night is that the service was really slow. It took about 15 minutes for us to order our drinks an another half hour after that to order our food. The location was not that busy that night, and it was discouraging when you drink or water would sit empty for a period of time. I was not in a hurry but is was a special occasion for the wife and I."

  • "I think I'm getting way too old -- I've seen too much, and want/expect to be stunned when I drop $60/head on a meal. With the exception of the crab cake appetizer, nothing was stunning. Service was fine. Food was fine. All fine, just not jump-up-and-down, can't-wait-to-go-back great, which is a shame. I remember the Wayzata loc. as being superior in most all respects."

  • "I'd be willing to give this place another shot given that it was Valentine's Day and restaurants everywhere are super busy. However, it's not any fun to spend that kind of money on a special occasion if you're going to receive 2nd class service. Our reservation was at 8:30, didn't get seated until 8:50. And when we did get seated-it was in the lobby of the building, outside the restaurant. Every time the door opened we'd receive a blast of cold outdoor air. Server was friendly but unattentive. Overall, it just felt like we were a nuisance to the restaurant, as if they somehow knew ahead of time that we weren't there to spend $1000. Food was really good though-that would lead me to give them a second chance."

  • "Excellent food and service! The perfect place for seafood lovers. The Bloomington location is in a bit of a strange location, but the atmosphere and ambience was great. We will be going back for sure!"

  • "The atmosphere was relaxed and not rushed. Overall good value for the quality of the food, the presentation and the staff. It was great to have a dinner and conversation without the feeling of being rushed to turn the table. Seating in the office building lobby area though was drafty on this cold evening. Will visit again."

  • "Liz and I enjoyed a very romantic and scrumptious Valentine's Day dinner there last night which couldn't possibly have been better. Hats off to all at this exceptional restaurant!"

  • "All food served was excecllent. Cheers to the chef. Fried osters were liked by all. Fish and chips for the teenagers good. Unless kids are adventurous I wouldn't bring them here. Relaxing atmosphere. Very quiet - not busy. Service was poor. We had to prompt drink orders after the waitress came back and still didn't ask us. I asked for a wine menu and that should have cluded the waitress that I was going to order. Never returned and I asked the person who brought our food out for the wine that I wanted to order. Ne It was a slow night at the resturant so I can't imagine there would be any excuse."

  • "I had a seafood stew and my wife had steak. Both were dynamite. Went to BP with another couple. We had a really good time and food was excellent. Super quiet for a Saturday night. Hope things are going ok cause I really like the place."

  • "We are so lucky to have Blue Point in our backyard. We've come here for special occasions as well as for casual lunch or date night out and we're never disappointed. The interesting flavor combinations are delightful - like pumpkin seeds on squash risotto with shrimp. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable."

  • "We had a party of eight people; the service was wonderful. We ordered a variety of appetizers including the mussels, crab cakes and calamari - the mussels and calamari were outstanding, but the crab cakes were a bid disappointment. Unfortunately, they were very greasy and soggy without much flavor. We did, however, order a second round of calamari - it was that good. Everyone enjoyed their dinners, including the monk fish, yellow fin tuna, scallops, and salmon. The portion size was perfect. Everyone at the table raved about the flavor of their meal. Dessert was key lime pie shared by all. The pie had a delicate texture that was bursting with key lime taste. It was outstanding. Overall, it is highly recommended."
