Diner Reviews
  • "We had a great dinner at the Blue Point Grille. The food, service and ambiance was excellent! This was my boyfriend's birthday and wanted to celebrate it at a special place and they made it special..Thank you to the staff there!!"

  • "our order must have been misplaced. people on either side of us seated after us finished there entire meal prior to us being served. they did comp us a shared shrimp cocktail for the mistake."

  • "Portions, portions, portions...how about a lack thereof? For the amount of money, I would really expect a decent sized plate of food. Instead, after three courses I found myself eating a burger at the bar next door within an hour of our dinner. Food was decent but nothing to rave about. Will not be going back anytime soon, if ever."

  • "The wine is overpriced as is the food. The arugula salad was not fresh, nor did it not have enough fresh ingredients on it. It was also wilted. Probably prepared prior. The Filet Mignon portion was very small as was the side dish consisting of 2 - 1" long potatoes sliced up. Could have used a lot more Béarnaise sauce for dipping. The crab meat (or whatever it was) was non existing. One of us at the table had to send our salmon back as it was raw inside. Sorry, won't come back nor will I recommend this restaurant."

  • "Was recommended by my doctor and it was a hit. We had come from Texas to the Cleveland Clinic, we asked the doctor for a nice place to eat and he recommended the Blue Point Grille. We enjoyed the building, the food was top shelf, excellent taste and presentation. The wait staff was over the top. We have told everyone about the BPG and when we go back to Cleveland we will visit them again. If I could have given a six or seven I would have, and I don't give fives that often."

  • "Seasoned and friendly waiter made for a very pleasant visit. Best restaurant view in the city, with street level windows offering a front row seat to the downtown skyline and activity. Opted for the night's special...Halibut dish. Excellent choice. Always consistent service and food."

  • "We have dined here several times and the food and service have been good. This particular evening, an inattentive, almost "spaced out" waiter made us think twice about returning in the near future."

  • "After reading raving reviews, I think I set myself up for disappointment. We were seated in a booth on the outskirts of the bar. So the whole time we basically talked through loud bar noises and kitchen noises, watched the TVs and didn't think anything "special" regarding ambiance. We ordered the lobster bisque, Grouper and Swordfish dinners and side of the risotto. I had an Armani Pinot Grigio glass of wine (and when I say glass I really mean 1/4 of a glass for $10), that I took one sip out of and couldn't stomach. I have no complaints with regards to the Swordfish, the grouper was good too but the lobster mashed potatoes (that we were dying to try) were extremely salty and the risotto was still crunchy rice. Experience was not worth $175."

  • "The service was fabulous. Crab cakes were delicious. Great for a special occasion."

  • "The pasta was luke warm. Sprouts were good. Potatoes and chicken were good. Bread fresh. But there is a major draft from that entrance that needs to be addressed."

  • "We always enjoy everything about the Blue Point which has become a destination stop for us on every trip to Cleveland. It is simply wonderful. The only suggestion we would have is to go back to the oysters Rockafeller the way they were previously made. Also, please bring back the three oyster sampler. Both were standards that are missed."

  • "We made a reservation for our anniversary. They gave us the best seat in the restaurant, balcony, end table. The service was most excellent. Emily was the best waitress. Attentive yet not hovering. The food was fabulous and the oysters were out of this world. The architecture of this restaurant is elegant and stunning. This is such a gem of a place.!"

  • "If you're looking for great seafood on the north coast, go no further. The selection here is as good as anyplace on either the right or left coasts, the wine list is impeccable and the ambiance is superior. Give it a try, you'll be glad you did."

  • "Just returned from business trip On Atlantic Ocean with great seafood. This restaurant in Cleveland was a total surprise for seafood. Excellent choices, taste , appearance of food, etc. Staff was attentive . Price on the high side but WELL WORTH IT!"

  • "Best selection of oysters in Cleveland always. This visit I had the best piece of swordfish I've ever had. Fantastic!"

  • "The Blue Pointe was good, but not exceptional. We were not advised on the Sunday night bar menu. I was not a very good value for the dinner we experienced."

  • "This is my second time to Blue Point, the first time the food was amazing and the atmosphere was awesome. This time, I was less impressed. The food was good, but the lobster was tough. The wine was absolutely awefull, it was a Cabernet and tasted as if it had been watered down. The service was adequate at best. For the price it was just not worth it. Maybe it was just a bad day, I will give them another try."

  • "Great window spot for people watching, even in sub freezing temps! They seated people/groups with distances between them and I like that attention to privacy. The service was spot on and delivered on suggestions, timing of visits, and cadence of food arrival through the courses. We has to skip dessert, because the lobster rangoon was tasty! Excellent choice for a romantic dinner...."

  • "we sat in the upstairs dining area, which if you can sit closer to the balcony end you have an amazing view with the floor to ceiling windows. Our server was very polite and helpful. Her knowledge of both food and wine was top notch. 3 out of 4 of us had the scallops which were delicious. the 4th person raved about her crab cakes. i strayed from my usual steak oscar which is always perfect. the wine menu is impressive. Although we were too full for dessert, we managed to make it through a creme brûlée and another chocolate dish that went so fast i cannot remember the name."

  • "I am pleasantly surprised with my first impression of Cleveland's restaurant scene. Despite mention that the staff was caught off guard by an unexpected onslaught of patrons who came in (on the Sunday evening), they handled it so graciously! The oysters, calamari, wedge salad, mussels and cocktails were all very satisfying, but I am most pleased that I decided to try your signature grouper dish! Next time I'll have to try it blackened as recommended by our server, but overall I was delighted by the glorious balance of the crisp sear, just-rich-enough lobster mash, tasty spinach and delectable VERMOUTH CREAM sauce. I look forward to visiting again very soon. Cheers!"

  • "Seafood lovers behold this treasure! Best selection of oysters I have seen ever anywhere here in ohio. The service is excellent and the staff truly want to not just serve and wait on you, they want you to have an excellent experience as well. The chef definitely enjoys working with his/her food. The tastes were amazing and and the selections are wonderful. The only complaint I can think of is that the tablecloths could be ironed for a better presentation. Overall it's a fantastic place and we are to return."

  • "I dined here with my mom for her 65th birthday. We were in from out of town, and I was looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate. I was very impressed by the quality of the food. We were immediately seated at a nice booth, and our server greeted us shortly after. Our server was very friendly and informative regarding the menu and wine list. She took our drink orders first and made great wine suggestions for both of us. She talked me out of my first wine choice, and I was very happy with the outcome. She also suggested that I try the scallops, and they were amazing. Probably the best I've ever had. My mom had a fillet, which she said was great as well. Overall, we had a great experience, and my mom had a wonderful birthday."

  • "Service was attentive and prompt. Ordered Halibut special. Fish was dry and serving was miniscule. Two small pieces that seemed Luke scrap ends. Maybe totaled 3 oz. Unfortunate. Have been here before when it was much better."

  • "Probably the best seafood in Cleveland area. Recommended for business lunches & dinners. Not a particular intimate restaurant so would not recommend for romantic outings. Because of high uninsulated ceilings the place is fairly noisy when filled iwth diners. Wait staff polite & casual."

  • "The scallops, the chocolate torte and creme brulee were all amazing. Our waiter was wonderful. And the view was fantastic. We were lucky enough to be on the corner and it was fun to watch the hustle and bustle of Cleveland night-on-the-townies outside against the backdrop of the downtown buildings while being pampered by our wait staff and eating a high-class meal. I will say the hostess was a little snotty. Not sure if it's because we asked to be seated in the front corner or if she was just getting to work and wasn't in a good mood yet, but we caught a little bit of attitude and were worried it could set the tone for the whole night. But it didn't at all. Once our waiter, Joey, came over we knew her attitude was an isolated incident."

  • "One of my favorite restaurants when in Cleveland, never had a bad meal or service. Excellent wine list, started with champagne/appetizer, had a great Pinot noir, and a port with dessert. A great night with friends!"

  • "This wasn't the first time dining at this restaurant & though I usually don't submit a review, I thought it was very necessary. Sitting at a table of 6 adults, ordering wine & oysters, service was poor & unprofessional. Food was NOT prepared at a "fine dining" level. My table was rushed & felt we were unable to relax with an after dinner drink because the restaurant focused on "closing" right at 11. Terrible way to make guests feel after spending a considerable about of money. Sorry to say, we will not be back."

  • "David our waiter was a great help and did a fantastic job orienting us to the establishment as well as the menu! He was friendly and very professional! The food was a wonderful bouquet of flavored and everything was top notch. We had the mussels as am appetizer and the sauce was delectable and the oysters perfectly cooked. I had the scallops and my dear had the surf and turf. We ate some of each other's dishes and I could cut the steak with a butter knife! All in all the best dining I have ever had!"

  • "Most recently, my wife and I had the pleasure of dining at Blue Point Grill over Valentine's Day weekend. The service at the bar was excellent, the bartender made a custom martini for my wife to her tastes and it was amazing. Great Service! At the dining table, the waiter was engaging, attentive and had a wonderful personality. Food was consistent and fantastic as usual. One of my favorite restaurants in the city and never disappointed."

  • "This was my first time going to Blue Point & was waiting in anticipation to get ahold of the Alaskan Red King Crab Legs. Sadly, I was completely disappointed. The quality of the crab was a little better than something i could imagine Red Lobster serving. I paid $75 for a very poor product. The service was below average at best & I am in the industry. Our waitress actually brought us the wrong bottle of wine & was never to be found. The only positive note I can say is that the Ten ounce thick cut filet was excellent. Overall after dropping $300 including tip for a average meal at best & below average service, I would recommend Mallorcha, XO or Red."

  • "Seafood (walleye, swordfish) was good but not outstanding nor creatively prepared. House salad was fresh but the goat cheese was clumped and plopped on to the greens in two large pieces as opposed to presenting it in a more appealing way. It was not a very good value when you consider the alternatives either in nearby Tremont or Ohio City."
