  • "Great experience at OysterFest! Party of 5: Beef and Reef, Whole Trout, Faroe Salmon, Lobster Bisque, Soup of the Day (a Saffron concoction), Shrimp Pasta. Rated excellent by my dining companions. I did 2 oyster servings- excellent! Drinks well done. And how about the dessert sampler! It is to die for! Do not pass up this treat. Everything is made in-house. The butterscotch is heavenly. Waitstaff professional, well-trained. Food delivery timed perfectly. No hovering, no annoyances. Downside: ambiance was noisy, high ceilings, open venue, full house created a loud atmosphere. Romance? Quieter mid-week visit, let the reservation hostess do seating. This is not a paid review. I live in San Diego."

  • "We've always enjoyed Blue Point, though haven't visited very often. But as it was my birthday, it was a gem we thought would be a special treat. We were slightly late due to traffic problems, but as soon as we walked in our table was waiting for us. Our server, Brittany (sp) was not only attentive, she was friendly, smart & so well versed in our menu selections. The 2 soup we chose, the saffron shrimp & lobster bisque were perfection. Our entrees, Lobster & steak were cooked exactly as we desired. We also enjoyed the complimentary chocolate cake for my birthday. Everything was wonderful. We'll definitely visit more often than just special occasions! Fine dining that makes you feel at home. What could be better!"

  • "We tried Blue Point before a show at the Spreckles Theater. We shared appetizers, martinis and wine. The calamari was delicious and perfectly cooked and seasoned. We also had soup/salads, shrimp/crab potstickers were fantastic! We also had the smoked salmon.....very generous on the salmon. We will definitely return....the martinis were delicious!!"

  • "The Padre's game just ended when we were seated outside so plenty of foot traffic but the resteraunt has erected a decorative glass barrier giving you some privacy while not obstructing the view. We started with a dozen assorted oysters on the half sheel which were excellent with the three mignonettes served with them. The lobster bisque was phenomenol! Entrees included fresh ono and sable fish. Each prepared in unique ways to compliment the type of fish. The ono prepared with andouille sausage and sauce while the sable fish was served with a nutty black rice. Both were excellent."

  • "Perfect staff, perfect food. Fit for date night. Our server in particular was just fantastic -- pleasant, knowledgeable, energetic and interesting. The next time I'm in San Diego, I will be back here. Only minor negative was ambience -- hindered by the extra early time of our full dinner meal (didn't appear that lighter fare was offered) paired with big sunny windows, as well as the super outdated logo graphic that makes a poor first impression. At the time those feelings were fleeting, and the overall experience was superb."

  • "I have eaten here twice now and it was even better the second time. The first time I went was during restaurant week and if you haven't eaten here, that is the perfect time to try them. They had some amazing 3 course meals to chose from as well as some very nice suggested wines that complimented the meals perfectly. The second time I went, I had their sablefish which was to die for and each bite just melted in my mouth. My date had the beef n reef which was cooked perfectly and exactly how she ordered it. Their service was just as good as the food. Our water glasses were never empty and neither were our wine glasses from the bottle we ordered. I highly recommend it and will definitely be back again."

  • "We were four for dinner on a Monday night, and the place was jammed, with many large parties. Nonetheless, the layout of the dining area keeps noise reasonably separated, so our group could talk . The food was very good and very fresh, and the service attentive and friendly. Ask for a "clamshell" seating booth, which are very nice; and stay away from the quite noisy bar in back."

  • "British manager should keep his wise cracks to himself, we ordered Seafood Fest, everything was good except for the over cooked fish, so we asked the server what the fish was and if it appeared to be dried out, he agreed and took it back, he said it was swordfish, and came back with a perfectly cooked piece."

  • "My husband is original from San Diego but had never been to Blue Point. We discovered the restaurant 4 years ago and when on vacation we always make reservation to visit the restaurant. IT is a MUST.. He loved it i took him there for his 47th birthday. He was impressed with the food and atmosphere. We live in Phoenix and is already talking about visiting the restaurant again in June."

  • "It was our 30th anniversary and we were out of town on business. We booked this restaurant and truly enjoyed the experience. The salmon was flavorful and the portion was quite large. My husband's steak was delivered hot and exactly like he ordered it. After dinner, our server brought us a chocolate cake for our anniversary! Very nice! The restaurant was romantic with any booths and dim lighting. Service was friendly and efficient."

  • "We made reservations and were offered a choice of indoor or outdoor seating. We had excellent, prompt service. The restaurant was full but our server was appropriately attentive to our table. He gave us time to review the menu, offered suggestions and answered our questions. We had the braised filet Mignon ravioli; it was melt in your mouth delicious. The scallops were succulent! The Blackened Pacific ono was very well prepared. The grits were out of this world and the andouille stew was a surprising compliment to the Ono. It is a must try restaurant when visiting San Diego."

  • "We were looking for another seafood restaurant that would meet or exceed or experience with the Oceanaire and we found it here! The menus are similarly priced but the selections are different. We enjoyed every bite of our meals (the lobster crusted Dorado & crab stuffed trout) and we are eager to return. The service exceeded the service at the Oceanaire as I felt more comfortable dining here and made to feel more welcome. The staff checked on us consistently and throughout our meal and we wanted for nothing. I think we found our new favorite seafood restaurant in town."

  • "Came here for our honeymoon dinner. The waiter was prompt and pleasant enough. Dirty martini made perfectly. Oyesters Rockefeller for appetizer not so good, bread crumbs on top were burnt, oyesters were almost invisible and dry overall. Paid $11 for a plate of lettuce. My fish entree was dry and flavorless. Husbands scallops were much better than my meal. Ambience wasn't great, open kitchen appeared not so clean or appealing. All in all it wasn't BAD, but I wish we had gone somewhere else for our special occasion."

  • "We're from Fortuna, in Northern California. Blue Point was quite the experience. The food and drinks were the best that we have had on our vacation. Our server, Dave, was exceptional. Pot sticker appetizer started the evening, then soup and salad. The main course was swordfish that we split. It was so light and flavorful. We highly recommend this restaurant and hope to return."

  • "We had reservations at 7PM and we showed up early. We didn't think it would be a problem, because there were many empty tables. The person at the front said they could not seat us yet and we could wait at the bar. She said they would seat us closer to the reservation time. We went to the bar and the bartender thought we were eating there and we told him that we were told we had to wait to be seated.He did not understand why we could not be seated. We waited about 30 minutes and then checked again. We got the same story about seating closer to our reservation time. Then we ran into a friend who was seated before us who did not have reservations. We ended up waiting even more and were not seated until after our reservation time."

  • "My gf and I went to the Blue Point for Valentine's and I was extremely disappointed with the 3 course meal they served. My lobster dorado was dry and not very flavorful. My gf had the scallops and were over cooked. I felt bad because this was our first Valentine's Day together and I heard that this place was an outstanding seafood place. I will not go again"
