  • "I was taking a special friend to a birthday dinner and found this restaurant on Open Table. I thought this was a very nice experience all around. The ambiance was very nice, the noise level was lively but comfortable, the food was excellent, and we had a delightful waitress. One thing I particularly liked was that all the food arrived nice and hot. A wine lover might think that the wine list was not extensive, but for me there was a nice range of wines and prices. I look forward to visiting this restaurant again."

  • "Met up with friends after work for great cocktails and dinner. Good portions of fresh, fresh food well prepared. Attentive service and an understated, yet comfortable ambience make Blue a popular local destination. A good selection of tasty food makes choosing a difficult decision, but you really can't go wrong. Too many sun-dried tomatoes kind of overpowered the shrimp risotto, but it was perfectly prepared. Lemon creme brulee was light and silky smooth, but could have used a bit more lemon punch. Still these are mere quibbles. (And we haven't had the courage to try the chocalate cake for the table ....). If you need a good place for dinner with friends or clients, you really couldn't do better than Blue - go!"

After waiting a very long time to put in our order, we had to call the waitress over to ask her to do this. She seemed very irritated by this & then with a very rude attitude, she took our order. It's too bad she gave us such a bad impression since all other aspects of the dining experience were very nice."

Glad we had a reservation because they were full and people were waiting at the bar, but everyone looked happy and eager to enjoy the atmosphere. Every plate that went by our table looked delicious and our table enjoyed the steak frites and the risotto special."

  • "Having been to Blue many times before I was surprised that the food was not up to par. We were a large party and several of the group got the hamburgers. They were "tasteless" and some did not like the cheese. The chicken pica was not great also. Upsetting was that the roasted chicken was not on the menu and hasn't been for a while. We will not be going back to Blue for a while. Also, the waitress was great but the food service was a little slow. We had children with us and we waited what seemed like a long (too long) time."

I tried the Thai Steak salad for the first time and absolutely enjoyed every morsel. My friends had salmon and pizza with salad, and thoroughly enjoyed their meals as well.   • "Blue on Highland is my family's default neighborhood restaurant because they always have an open table and the food is solid. However, the service is often inconsistent. Most recently, we went when they were clearly understaffed (the dining room was not full); we waited over 40 mins for food. We eventually asked our server for some bread because we were hungry. When our food came, 1 was incorrect. No one apologized. Good restaurant if you want the basics (salad, soup, sandwiches) and don't have reservations, but not if you want a quick meal."

Calamari tasted like the oil they fried in had been used for weeks. All the food was just terrible. What a shame, it is a beautiful comfortable place. I doubt we will ever go back."

  • "It's been quite I while since I last visited Blue and I was happy that the food was still way better than average. The portions were perfect. The salmon was buttery, melt in your mouth with just a bit of a seared on crust and the risotto was perfectly creamy. We had great friendly service. It was relatively busy on a Wednesday night but the noise level was merely " lively" and not intrusive. I plan to go back sooner rather than later."

The reviews seemed good and I thought I would like to try something new so I booked for Friday night dinner. There was a wait for the table but only 20 min. The service was relatively good with some lapses of non attention. The food & drinks were very good! Others would do well to try it!"

  • "My husband and I were going to a party in the neighborhood and decided to try one of the local dining establishments. We were not disappointed. The restaurant can veer from casual to elegant depending on your mood. We arrived in casual gear and felt perfectly at home, although there were many guests in dressier attire. The menu is simple, but guaranteed to suit just about everyone's tastes. All of the food we had was well seasoned and flavorful. We also tried some of their specialty drinks and they were quite good also. The service was excellent. We had a wonderful waitress who was attentive without being overly intrusive. I'd say the dessert was the best part of the meal. Overall the atmosphere, food, and service are top-notch!"

  • "Blue is a great find for lunch, drinks & apps or dinner without having to drive into the city. Great food, terrific service and an easy location to get to. I met a bunch of people -- some coming from Boston, some from the local suburbs and for each of us it was an easy 10-15 minute trip. Among the group we had salads, shrimp tacos and burgers-- simple right? But each was prepared and served in a different and tasty way that made them stand out from standard restaurant salads, tacos and burgers. I have been there several times -- different occasions, different times of day. With the girls, with my husband and for business meetings. Each was perfectly suited in that environment. Blue is a great find."

  • "I have not been to dinner at Blue in a while, usually head there for lunch, so I was surprised to see that the dinner prices are $$$$$ now excluding pizza options. Not being very hungry, we each ordered a salad (very tasty and a good size) and an order each of the scallops appetizer, which was excellent. There are now much better options for wine by the glass then there was the last time I dined there. As always, if you make reservations, request a table as far away from the bar as possible or you will be yelling to make yourself heard. Blue is a vibrant, energetic place to dine, and the bar area is very popular and always crowded so if you want a quieter meal there, try lunch - no bar crowd and the prices are more reasonable."
