Diner Reviews
  • "I like that they have separate rooms for quietness and group intimacy."

  • "Blue Moon is known for its vibrant bar with nightly entertainment. So, after years of dining in Rehoboth Beach, I never seriously considered eating at the adjoining restaurant. After many recommendations from friends, we finally tried it. The food was truly gourmet and the service outstanding. Recommend it."

  • "Loved the entire dining experience. Food was excellent. We had a table of 11 that was accommodated last minute for us. Not the most favorable location, between two doors, one to the bar and the other to the kitchen……lots of traffic all night. However, still had a great experience and terrific food. Crabcake special was incredible! The famous blue moon dessert was the highlight of the evening, devoured. Yummy! Thanks so much for making everything terrific!"

  • "Dined at Blue Moon on our last evening in Rehoboth and really enjoyed our meal here! Service was fantastic and our server was very knowledgeable on the food as well as the wine. Will dine here again if ever back in Rehoboth Beach!!!!!!!"

  • "Blue Moon's menu was diverse, the atmosphere was lively, yet not too loud, and the food was spectacular. Prices are a bit high, but worth it. Waitress was very sweet and attentive."

  • "The server totally refused to answer questions! My husband & I wanted the vegetarian dish. Although we appreciated the restaurant's willingness to accommodate dietary preferences, we were appalled at the expectation that we spend $28 for a meal with no description or ability to decide if we might like it. I cannot imagine anyone spending this amount for a meal described only as "meat" with no idea of what type of meat or sides would arrive. Our two guests also were interested in the $69 Chatearbriand and the waiter was similarly unhappy at being asked about its presentation (which, by the way, was rather nontraditional although it was delicious). The veggie entree was ok but lacked seasoning & a protein source -- frozen peas & carrots."

  • "The beet salad is yummy and they have the best veal chop will ever find!"

  • "Absolutely love dining here! We came back the following week and had the same meals! Everything from drinks...Roasted Oysters and the Charred Octopus were AMAZING! My Charred steak was done perfectly as was my husbands filet with foie gras... We tried the roasted brussel sprouts which were perfectly done! Bottle of wine-perfect date night.... Only wished we had room for the Moon Pie-but we were filled with such a wonderful meal-ONCE AGAIN!!!"

  • "We have been coming here for years and will continue to do so. My wife is gluten free and I am dairy free. The wait staff and kitchen went out of their way to open up a number of choices and provide us a great meal. Very fresh food, well prepared. We also had a 9 month old with us. Many white table cloth fine dining restaurants are not keen on infants. However, Blue Moon took great care of us in setting up the table taking care of the parents while they fed the baby and making sure all 6 adults and the baby enjoyed the visit. All the food was excellent, but the consensus best starters were the fried green tomatoes and the salad that had an egg (do not remember the name). Best entree was the duck."

  • "Our food was excellent but it took us 45 minutes to get our deserts. Throughout the night it seemed like our server had forgotten us."

  • "everything was wonderful. a bit pricy for a lot of the entrees."

  • "Food here is consistently fabulous. The adjoining bar is a popular gathering spot for beautiful young men and frequent live shows but, despite the crowded bar, the restaurant is quiet enough to have a conversation."

  • "The Blue Moon continues to uphold the highest standards in cutting edge cuisine, incredibly attentive service and great ambiance. Arguably the best in refined dining that Rehoboth has to offer. White tablecloth restaurants in Rehoboth come and go, there's a reason why the Blue Moon has remained in business for so long; its consistently outstanding."

  • "Arrived on time for our 5:00p reservation and were promptly seated. The only draw back we had is that the table we sat at was in a corner and right up against another table and made it difficult to get up, and the staff was unwilling to place us at another table for our comfort. Otherwise, our service was excellent our waitress was very attentive and the food was excellent we had the Oysters with Fennel and Bacon, Fried Green Tomatoes, Oxtail Bolognese and the Smith Island Crabcakes, all very delicious . Highly recommend for a night out, we will be back."

  • "Continues tot serve great food at high-end shore prices. And it is worth it. The much over served beet salad - was great. The duck breast ( ordered by 3 in our group) was rich and flavorful ( just add a few more brussel sprouts - please). Wild rockfish was simply prepared and tasty. Wine list is kind of pricey but you can choose some nice whites for under $40. The best place in town for a special evening"

  • "We are never disappointed at the Moon! Whether a special event or just the two of us the food is consistently high quality expertly prepared! One of our favorite spots in Rehoboth!"

  • "This restaurant was a great choice for our 23rd wedding anniversary. The food was delicious. I had pan seared crab cakes and my husband had some type of chicken, which he loved. The presentation of the meals was perfect. The meal was a little expensive, but worth it for special occasions. I would definitely recommend the Blue Moon. The staff was very attentive to our needs and graciously answered all of questions."

  • "I had the crabcake special which was to die for! My husband had the veal which is the best in town! You can never go wrong at the Blue Moon."

  • "We went to celebrate a birthday and were seated at a corner table with built in bench. My partner sat first and slid around the corner. A blob of food was on the bench so this was smeared with the slide, leaving enough to mess up my bottom as well!! This was not noticed until the next day as we had transferred it to the seats of the car. Then we examined our clothes. I don't know what this was but there was plenty of it. My brazed short ribs (special) were juicy inside but dry, crusty and chewy on the outside. There was not enough moist filler underneath to compensate for this dryness. Overall, it was a disappointing experience as we have enjoyed the place several times in the past. The drink was excellent as was partners din."

  • "My wife and I shared our appetizers and main courses. The tuna tartare and grilled octopus apetizers were delicious. The crab cakes and the rockfish were well prepared and delicious as well. For those of us used to dining out in the Washington area thewine prices were a pleasant surprise."
    Dined on 6/16/2014
  • "We have been reading the reviews of fellow diners, but we think Blue Moon is lacking from the dinner rolls to the wonky wine list to the diminishing portion size. The Oxtail Bolognese has regressed from a steaming pile of gnocchi and sauce to a semi-circle of food arranged visually to take up space on the plate. We used to dine here at least twice in our beach week..."

  • "The slight crowding only underscores the popularity of this restaurant. Have visited many times and always been pleased. Can't even pick a particular menu item because all are prepared to perfection. Service is friendly and attentive."

  • "We have been to the Blue Moon for many years on special occasions and expected the penultimate dining experience for the high-end NYC prices they charge. The host would not seat four of u until all six in our party arrived, despite the $450 tab and my protest. We felt cramped as we were placed near the door, the service was very good but the menu was pretentious and the main courses were average. They served bone marrow on the side, which I didn't care for and despite my telling the restaurant through Open Table that we were having a 36th anniversary dinner, nothing was complimentary except the glitter they sprinkled on the tablecloth."

  • "If you are a foodie at the beach, then Blue Moon is a must. While the bar scene is haven for gay men, always mobbed, with music and shows, the dining room is as diverse as any place else. The food is consistently reliable. My only problem is narrowing down the selection of appetizers, crudos and salads. This is primarily a place to go for meat. There are a few fish items on the menu, but the emphasis is on meat. Our rack of lamb was perfect and the portion large enough for me to have another chop for lunch the next day. My only complaint is that we arrived too early and rather than wait for our table on the porch, we took one in the back room next to a door to the bar. The noise level was LOUD!Server had tables in 2 rooms, inefficient."

  • "Another wonderful evening at the Blue Moon without a doubt the best in Rehoboth Beach. The crab cakes where out stand and things could not have been better."

  • "We have been to the Blue Moon many times. I think that the brunch is consistently their best effort. Part of that is the better price point; however, the restaurant really shines in the sunlight. Excellent Bloody Marys. The Eggs Benedict is top notch."

  • "The crab scramble, steak and eggs, and French toast were outstanding! Beautifully prepared and delicious. We LOVED everything! Oh, and the $5 bloody mary's are out of this world!"

  • "We had a lovely brunch at Blue Moon. The food was excellent. We went around 1 pm, at the latter part of the brunch hour, so the restaurant was mostly empty. We were seated in the porch area, so had a view of the busy town street, which I enjoyed. Service was very good. My only complaint was that our server never came back once our meals were served to see if we needed/wanted anything else. The next time I saw her was when the check was presented."

  • "It is always a wonderful pleasure to dine at the Blue Moon on Baltimore Avenue in beautiful downtown Rehoboth Beach. Last Thursday we had the pleasure of having the pork chops and they could not have been better. You could cut them with a fork and the taste was outstanding. I am looking forward to returning in the near future."

  • "We have eaten at Blue Moon for years and it is one of our musts when we visit Rehoboth. However, this wasn't one if their better nights. We were seated next to the kitchen where we never were before. We were not over bread until our appetizers arrived and it took too long to be served. The appetizers were so late our server apologized and dinner was not served for another 40 minutes, nearly 90 minutes after we were seated. Water service was so spotty we filled our own. The food was as creative and good as always but the delays were nearly intolerable. Do not accept a seat in the back. You'll be a forgotten diner!"

  • "If you missed Tasting Tuesday this spring you will have to wait until the fall. Everything was outstanding and the white bean soup was out of this world. We really appreciate all that you do for the community. Happy Summer!"

  • "We had an amazing dining experience here. The food was absolutely great. We dine in NYC often, and Blue Moon is every bit as good as our favorite places in NYC. The service was terrific. If the scallops are on the menu, I highly recommend them as well as the Salmon. Our appetizers of Fried Green Tomatoes and Tuna were also amazing. While we had no room for desert, the ones we saw go by looked every bit as good as the dinner."

  • "Another wonderful meal at the best restaurant in Rehoboth Beach. The pork chop was so good that I was upset when I ate the last bite. If you have not tried the Blue Moon you are missing out on a real treat."

  • "Still one of my favorite restaurants in Rehoboth. Table was ready upon arrival. Sitting out on the porch is one of the best spots in Rehoboth. Wait staff was attentive and professional. Drinks are generous pours and well made. My only gripe was they took the roasted oyster app off the menu--which is one of the best courses offered in any place in the world. Please bring it back! I opted for the Maine Lobster pie, which was delicious--and a nice new offering for 2014. The veal loin chop with whipped cauliflower was superb. If you have room for dessert, the pecan pie is simply spectacular--on this night accompanied with a smudge of carmel sauce, a smudge of chocolate sauce and cinnamon ice cream. Delish!!!"
