A Contemporary American Gastro-lounge located in the heart of the Phoenix"s vibrant Cityscape development downtown.

Blue Hound Kitchen & Cocktails draws inspiration from local Arizona purveyors and farmers for an ingredient-driven New American social plates menu meant to be enjoyed with artisanal wines, craft cocktails and great beers.

Nationally recognized Master Mixologist Jacques Bezuidenhout teams-up with a handful of the best known bar chefs in the valley to present Phoenix's most forward-thinking cocktail program alongside a carefully tailored wine list hand-selected by Master Sommelier Emily Wines.

The mode is neighborhood friendly but casually polished, from the cozy lobby lounge up front to the convivial dining room and patio in back. The colors, furnishings and light convey an at home vibe. Three distinct atmospheres provide a theatrical backdrop for any occasion and seating for 140 guests.

It was divine, my husband and I shared three dishes off the menu, and each and every one was incredible. To top off all of that, the pineapple upside down cake is not what you remember your mother/grandmother's was, it is better!! Wow, it is a must order when you are at the Blue Hound!! Each dish was elegantly displayed and brilliantly flavored,from the perfectly prepared and unusual deviled egg appetizer to the intricate and unique DIVER SCALLOPS served with cooked figs, grilled Japanese eggplant, barbequed vidalia onions and pork, and corn emulsion. My husband's ribeye steak was perfectly prepared and delicious. But the piece de resistance was the hot upside-down cake with ice cream. It truly is a one-of-a-kind dessert you must try, even if you don't like that kind of cake. It was win you over! Can't wait to go back!"

However, the man at the front desk couldn't find our reservation (I had the email confirmation with me), and didn't make us feel particularly welcome - very unexpected reaction. The restaurant wasn't full, and even if we didn't have a reservation there were enough empty tables to accommodate our party of 3."

  • "My friend chose this place for her birthday dinner. We were underwhelmed. The food was just OK. The most annoying thing was the bar service. First course arrived before the cocktails. I received a POOR pour on my glass of wine. When I asked for a proper pour, the server offered what-he-thought-to-be-a-discreet middle finger pick-up of the stem of the glass. The rest of the pours that evening were sufficient. Would not recommend. Just another hotel restaurant."

  • "Came in to enjoy dinner prior to a concert, and while we admittedly did not have reservations, the host did nothing to get creative to assist. I took advantage of Open Table and booked a table for 6:30 (the host said nothing was available until 7:30) and then decided to wait at the bar and grab a drink. The bartender was overwhelmed and didn't greet us at all. In addition to serving the full bar of patrons he was also managing the service bar. The barback, although trying to be helpful, was of no use in getting anything other than beer or wine. Once we were seated (and observing at least 5 vacant tables in the dining room) it took us 10 minutes for a server to come by. The meal was forgettable as is this restaurant. Skip it."

However, it was the night of the Paul McCartney concert across the street at the US Airways Center so I don't know if it could be a little quieter and calmer there on another night, an average night. I was staying at the Hotel Palomar so it was a convenient location being right in the hotel. The dinner I had was not notable but good."

  • "often hotel dining is a disappointment...but this was not! in fact, everything about this hotel was well above expectations. we were quite pleased with the selection of food and the prices were certainly reasonable, esp at happy hour. the only item we got that can use improvement was the pork belly sliders: very very fatty. they were also very tasty, but it would have been better if the chef had cut thinner slices and thrown away the ones that were pure fat. our waiter replaced our order immediately when we complained. our deviled egg appetizer was yummy. and the shrimp entrée was fabulous! crispy, tasty, big whole fresh shrimp~~a big treat!!!! we actually were full before we finished it. the homemade ice cream divine!"

It was excellent compared to other restaurants we've tried here. I liked the fact that they use fresh ingredients. My husband absolutely loved his swordfish. I was glad that they had some vegetarian options. The risotto croquettes were pretty good - could taste a few different flavors and they had some texture. The people who waited on us were so friendly - liked them all - but they stopped to check on us way too many times (10+), interrupting our conversation and trains of thought. We were there to talk to each other so attentive and unobtrusive would have been better. Overall very nice though."

  • "We arrived in Phoenix and found this place close to the hotel within walking distance. We started off with some half orders of the Hickman's Farm Deviled Eggs and Charred Pork Belly Sliders which were very good and tasty. I ordered the Pork Butt Burnt End Flatbread which had a lot of flavor but, not enough pork butt as I tasted the vegetables more than anything. My wife had the Seafood Stew which was loaded with crab, mussels, crawfish and some vegetables that reminded her very much of her roots in Louisiana. The service started off great but, then slowed down. The server was friendly and knowledgeable which was very helpful in making out decisions. The menu is somewhat overpriced for certain items but, we enjoyed ourselves none the less."

  • "I have heard so many great things about Blue Hound and couldn't wait to try it. I finally had the oppurtunity to try it last night and it was even better than I expected. Chris was our server and he was very attentive and had extensive menu knowledge. Since it was our first time we had many questions regarding the menu and he was very patient with us and also gave us some excellent recommendations. Everything we ordered was amazing but the Pork Belly Sliders are a must try. They were the perfect combination of spice and savor and they come in half orders so you can try them in additon to sampling other menu items. Overall, our experience was outstanding and I would highly recommend to anyone who has not been."

  • "We were staying at the hotel and this place was so hip! The blue dog has a delicious menu. Our teenagers loved it and we even got them to try cauliflower, an appetizer on the menu. It was heaven! We ordered both nights we ate there. Super delicious. Service was great and atmosphere was lively but you could talk. The Swordfish was delicious and the fries were crisp and tender. Delicious food , great presentation and sleek and chic atmosphere! Go!"

Surprisingly, the waiter tried to defend the meal saying that's the way it was intended. The manager removed the entree from our bill. This restaurant became the joke for the remainder of my trip to Phoenix."

  • "I love coming to Blue Hound, we are always greeted with a smile. We came in on a weekday and there dining room was busy, however I we chose to sit in the bar which I prefer. We were greeted by the bartender Juan, who is very accommodating when making blue hounds specialty cocktails and personable. He took amazing care of us, regardless if how busy he may be have been making drinking for the entire resturant. Now let's talk food!!! We ordered the starwberry flatbread which was good yet fries, the fries come with aioli dipping sauce it is so good. In addition to the elote.The elote was incredible!! I seriously will come back just to eat the elote! It's basically corn on the cob deliciously seasoned, with cream and cojita cheese.Auh-mazing!!!"
