All 4 of us had a positive experience here. The modern decor is well done. The place is convenient to most sports and cultural venues in downtown Phoenix. We had an order of French fries and they were done perfectly - crunchy and a little salty. Two had the pulled pork sandwich and thought it was very good and a little different that most others. The same is true with the fried chicken sandwich. Sandwiches came with a side salad. I had the Cobb salad which was excellent and large. Some of it went home. The service was very good and the prices were reasonable. It is in the Palomar Hotel and they can validate parking there.

In addition to the super atmosphere and delicious meal, they make some unique cocktails. The interesting ingredients (e.g., egg whites, smoke, fire) come together to create very tasty concoctions.

My wife and I were looking for a new place to try and since we live in downtown Phoenix decided to check out Blue Hound Grill. We started with the roasted beet salad with medjool dates, clementine and boursin cheese. My wife had the Corvina Sea Bass, white beans, kale and smoked bacon and I had the prime flat iron steak with whipped potatoes topped and garlic cherry glaze. Food was great and the service was perfect; attentive but not overbearing. Water glasses were kept full and entrees were delivered in a timely manner after finishing the salad.

Blue Hound is a vibrant restaurant in the Phoenix Kimpton Hotel. We changed our reservation twice because we kept arriving later and later, but once we got there it was wonderful. We had the best pork sliders we've ever had anywhere. Marvelous food in a vibrant setting and great hotel. We are older than most people there, and we found the setting a bit noisier than optimum, but overall loved it. Had we sat outside, it would have been quieter and we should have done that.

We ordering appetizers and and after 45 minutes of waiting we still received no food whatsoever. The waiter never came by once to apologize for the slow service so we got up and left. Most of the tables sitting around us did not receive any food the entire time we were their either. The restaurant was extremely noisy, much too noisy to have a conversation with our friends across the table. I have no idea what the issue was that night but it appeared as though everyone had terrible service and empty bellies. We were headed to US Airways for a concert so the only thing we had time for at that point was Carl's Jr. The service was a whole heck of a lot better there and for sure a lot more friendly.

This restaurant is one of the unique restaurants located in the Kimpton hotel chain. It had a limited but eclectic menu with a decent wine list. The music was a bit too loud for intimate dining but worth a try even if you are not staying in the hotel. It is in the new urban core pf Downtown Phoenix so it is a very cool location. The downside is there is limited on-street parking so be prepared to pay at the Cityscape East Garage. They do validate your ticket at the restaurant but it did not pay for the entire time it took for our dinner.

It started with our martini order, which although ordered "dry," arrived with way too much vermouth. We sent it back. Fifteen minutes later, the replacement martini's arrived, but the drinks had a distinct background flavor of orange (cointreau?) perhaps from a cocktail shaker that hadn't been properly cleaned. Our dinners (charred broccoli, Cobia and Harissa Grilled Chicken) were ok, though not special. The broccoli was charred but served room temperature, the hot chicken served on cool tabbouleh. Odd. Our server never checked back with us. We felt abandoned. In the end. there were too many little mistakes. They added up to a disappointing experience.

Beautiful interior, fantastic drinks offerings, our server was very attentive and made suggestions off the menu for us vegetarians. The food, oh the food!! It was divine, my husband and I shared three dishes off the menu, and each and every one was incredible. To top off all of that, the pineapple upside down cake is not what you remember your mother/grandmother's was, it is better!! Wow, it is a must order when you are at the Blue Hound!! We will absolutely return to this gem in Phoenix! : )

This is my first experience eating a non-breakfast item, but then again, my friend and I went for lunch. Unfortunately, on Saturdays, they do not offer a lunch menu; only the brunch menu, which is quite limited. The quality of the food is good and the venue is upscale and chic.

The food at the Blue Hound is amazing. Each dish was elegantly displayed and brilliantly flavored, from the perfectly prepared and unusual deviled egg appetizer to the intricate and unique DIVER SCALLOPS served with cooked figs, grilled Japanese eggplant, barbequed vidalia onions and pork, and corn emulsion. My husband's ribeye steak was perfectly prepared and delicious. But the piece de resistance was the hot upside-down cake with ice cream. It truly is a one-of-a-kind dessert you must try, even if you don't like that kind of cake. It was win you over! Can't wait to go back!

The restaurant was quite nice, as we expected. Our server was helpful, professional, and definitely knew the menu. However, the man at the front desk couldn't find our reservation (I had the email confirmation with me), and didn't make us feel particularly welcome - very unexpected reaction. The restaurant wasn't full, and even if we didn't have a reservation there were enough empty tables to accommodate our party of 3.

My friend chose this place for her birthday dinner. We were underwhelmed. The food was just OK. The most annoying thing was the bar service. First course arrived before the cocktails. I received a POOR pour on my glass of wine. When I asked for a proper pour, the server offered what-he-thought-to-be-a-discreet middle finger pick-up of the stem of the glass. The rest of the pours that evening were sufficient. Would not recommend. Just another hotel restaurant.

Came in to enjoy dinner prior to a concert, and while we admittedly did not have reservations, the host did nothing to get creative to assist. I took advantage of Open Table and booked a table for 6:30 (the host said nothing was available until 7:30) and then decided to wait at the bar and grab a drink. The bartender was overwhelmed and didn't greet us at all. In addition to serving the full bar of patrons he was also managing the service bar. The barback, although trying to be helpful, was of no use in getting anything other than beer or wine. Once we were seated (and observing at least 5 vacant tables in the dining room) it took us 10 minutes for a server to come by. The meal was forgettable as is this restaurant. Skip it.

While the hotel was great, something has to be said about the Bluehound. While the food did taste ok I would not recommend this restaurant as a regular place to go. Everyone is different and has different tastes. I would recommend that the wait staff take the time to try the menu items so they can better recommend food and drinks. I would venture to another restaurant.

It was the first time I have eaten dinner here and found it very busy and noisy. However, it was the night of the Paul McCartney concert across the street at the US Airways Center so I don't know if it could be a little quieter and calmer there on another night, an average night. I was staying at the Hotel Palomar so it was a convenient location being right in the hotel. The dinner I had was not notable but good.

often hotel dining is a disappointment...but this was not! in fact, everything about this hotel was well above expectations. we were quite pleased with the selection of food and the prices were certainly reasonable, esp at happy hour. the only item we got that can use improvement was the pork belly sliders: very very fatty. they were also very tasty, but it would have been better if the chef had cut thinner slices and thrown away the ones that were pure fat. our waiter replaced our order immediately when we complained. our deviled egg appetizer was yummy. and the shrimp entrée was fabulous! crispy, tasty, big whole fresh shrimp~~a big treat!!!! we actually were full before we finished it. the homemade ice cream divine!

Since moving to the Phoenix area, we've been missing eating out at decent restaurants so we were happy when a friend recommended the Blue Hound. It was excellent compared to other restaurants we've tried here. I liked the fact that they use fresh ingredients. My husband absolutely loved his swordfish. I was glad that they had some vegetarian options. The risotto croquettes were pretty good - could taste a few different flavors and they had some texture. The people who waited on us were so friendly - liked them all - but they stopped to check on us way too many times (10+), interrupting our conversation and trains of thought. We were there to talk to each other so attentive and unobtrusive would have been better. Overall very nice though.
