A word from Blue Hound Kitchen & Cocktails
A Contemporary American Gastro-lounge located in the heart of the Phoenix"s vibrant Cityscape development downtown.

Chef Stephen Jones draws inspiration from local Arizona purveyors and farmers for an ingredient-driven New American social plates menu meant to be enjoyed with artisanal wines, craft cocktails and great beers.

Nationally recognized Master Mixologist Jacques Bezuidenhout teams-up with a handful of the best known bar chefs in the valley to present Phoenix's most forward-thinking cocktail program alongside a carefully tailored wine list hand-selected by Master Sommelier Emily Wines.

The mode is neighborhood friendly but casually polished, from the cozy lobby lounge up front to the convivial dining room and patio in back. The colors, furnishings and light convey an at home vibe. Three distinct atmospheres provide a theatrical backdrop for any occasion and seating for 115 guests.

The highlights were definitely the chef's special pork belly dish that he gave each of us as a first course and the short ribs - incredible. The cocktails that we had were all good as well. The service was top notch and I am looking forward to the next time that I am in Phoenix and have the opportunity to visit the Blue Hound."

  • "Menu sounds enticing but food is uninspired. Feels like it is simply "assembled" in the kitchen, with no thought given to flavor or presentation. I ordered the carrot, ginger, apple drink and it was served at room temperature, not even chilled. Kale Caesar salad was chewy and pretty much inedible. My friend ordered the tuna nicoise and couldn't even eat the tuna. Something isn't right in the kitchen. Very disappointing."

  • "To be fair to the server, he was busy. The place was jammed, but it took an exhaustingly long time for drinks and the check to arrive. The food was average at best (except for the roasted cauliflower which quite tasty - the best part of the meal). A ham dish was actually unpleasant -tough and dry- and we complained. Blue Hound was kind enough to not charge us for it. In fact they admitted that others were complaining about it also. Perhaps on a less busy night we would have had a better experience."

  • "Unfortunately we did not eat here. Only had a glass of wine. Nothing on the menu struck any of us. When we asked the waiter for help we were left more confused then we were before. We could not substitute things if we did not like them. I was a waiter for 10 years, if I had a table that told me, they think they were going to have to eat else where, I would take the time and find their likes and dislikes, find something that matched on the menu and guarantee their satisfaction. Instead our server picked up our menus and told us " You wont find better food any where else." And he may of been right, but he never took the time to help us navigate the menu."

Great options for the vegetarian ~ my friend chose the roasted cauliflower and wild mushroom flatbread, and the dishes are dynamite. I opted for the barbecued beef short ribs and had never before tasted ribs this good. Great wine list. Classy indoor setting, but we opted to sit outside, overlooking CityScape and couldn't have been more pleased with the pacing of our service and the quality of our cuisine. Customer service is a ten. And a big shout out to a great waiter, Justin."

When approaching from the street it's a bit challenging to find, but a kind Phoenix Ambassador pointed us up the stairs to the restaurant. The menu is small but offers a nice variety of salads, starters, and mains. The ceviche tacos were a taste treat; the red snapper was generous and well prepared.the salad with grapefruit and avocado was small but nicely seasoned and artfully presented. This restaurant is a good addition to downtown Phoenix options. I would return."

But from the moment we sat down, the service was slow and the food took 50 minutes to be served. The restaurant was not busy what so ever, so there was NO excuse. Just another example of a restaurant with poor to no management. It seemed like the place was being run by a bartender, on waiter, and a cook..... So much potential, but they don't take their fine establishment seriously. The "bottomless" Bloody Mary seemed to be mostly mix, next to no vodka."

  • "Went to Bluehound on a Sunday before a Suns game. Other local establishments were closed for whatever reasons on a Sunday which allowed our party of 8 to try Bluehound for the first time. Located in PHX City Center and the lovely Hotel Palomar, Bluehound does not disappoint. Our table was waiting for us and the service was outstanding. Fun, creative drink menu and good wine and beer selection. Bluehound combines great high-end comfort food with a great atmosphere and choice of indoor or outdoor seating. If you don't want to put up with the Fox Concept hype of the Arrogant Butcher, step next door to the Bluehound for your next outing."

  • "The restaurant served a prix-fixe menu, so I'm not sure my experience is representative of their usual, so take this for what you will. The first course was oyster and sausage which needed more than 3 small rounds of toast. Next was a very nice lobster and avocado salad that needed some acidity. The 3rd course was a foie gras creme brulee The combination of foie gras with the egg custard resulted in a cheese-like consistency with no taste except for a meaty sensation. 4th was a steak which was nicely done, though the choice of a dauphin potato seemed odd. Finally, desert was a chocolate ice cream heart which was grainy. Overall, every course had some minor flaw, and the 3rd course was awful. I wouldn't return based on my experience."

  • "Stopped in for a quick meal and drinks before the Suns game. The waiter was very helpful with food selections and mindful of our schedule without feeling rushed. We all chose from the appetizer and salad menus. Everything was flavorful and properly portioned. The downtown location is great with a good view of the city from the dining room. It was a little cold for outdoor seating but the patio area looks great, we'll try it when it is warmer."
