Blue HillGood food, modest portionsI had requested a quiet table and we were offered one in the garden room at the back, which is smaller and quieter than the main room. So that was a good start. Our waiter was serious and knowledgeable. The food was cooked and presented beautifully, all the ingredients fresh, organic, etc etc. Only disappoinment was the bread-pudding dessert, which was rather ordinary. High prices seem deserved. We came away impressed and not overstuffed.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMBeyond Farm to TableDon't care that much about farm-to-table. This place is just good.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreenwich Village GemWe dined at Blue Hill for our 1 year anniversary - everything was perfect! We started with the asparagus soup and the potato ball farm snacks. We did have a little food envy after seeing our neighbor's "veggies on a fence" but we were very pleased with our appetizers as well! For dinner we had the pork and the duck. Both were prepared to perfection and went great with our Counoise wine from Washington State - an excellent suggestion from the sommelier. Would love to go back soon as the menu is ever changing and always incorporates the freshest of ingredients!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat experienceA well oiled establishment, our waiter was knowledgeable, the waitstaff were attentive and prompt. The food was excellent - A good overall experience.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious!Very nice place for a special occasion. Everything was super tasty, except perhaps the risotto that my husband found a bit disappointing (it wasn't what he had expected, but he's probably to blame for not reading the menu properly or asking questions). Also service was very good, the waiter asked us is we had food allergies and since we're lactose-intolerant he brought us olive oil instead of butter with the cheese. Minor cons: (1) we had to wait 10 minutes to be seated (with a reservation) when the table was actually ready and right in front of us. (2) The aircon was very cold in the beginning but it was a bit better after a while. (3) The place was a bit on the loud side for this kind of special occasions place (but not unbearable).5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMStill good, but not greatWe stopped by on a weeknight in hopes of getting a table earlier than our reservation. The hostess pleasant, but was very awkward about taking care of us. Eventually, we found seats at the bar.
We ordered snacks (chick pea fries, veggies on a fence), an appetizer (sausage), entrees (pig, chicken), dessert (choc bread pudding) and wine (reisling and a white blend). Only the sausage appetizer and pig entree were memorable (and the brussel sprouts in the chicken dish). The wine was good, but over-priced (we paid $80 for 4 glasses). The bartender was a highlight of the evening.
We left with full stomachs and a relatively forgettable evening. I'm a BH fan, but be prepared to spend money and walk away without a life-changing experience.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMVegetarian friendlyLove a restaurant that includes an outstanding vegetarian choice and Blue Hill's wonderful Cauliflower Steak never disappoints. Add a bowl of delicious corn soup and a great bottle of wine and Blue Hill goes to the top of my vegetarian friendly restaurants in NY.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMBoringProbably a little boring getting all perfect scores but after my recent dinner I can't give anything less. From the moment I walked in, we were promptly seated to the perfect corner booth table with my friend. I had not seen my friend who was visiting from LA for several years, so we had a lot to catch on, and the waitress never once interrupted, except to bring our drinks, which this in itself is incredible. We shared our food, family style, started potato balls, and walnut, speck, cabbage, which we loved, followed with the soft shell crab as one of the appetizers, as an second course we shared the most delicious creamy celeriac risotto with shell fish, finished w/ a beautiful flaky braised hake, perfect night!4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding in every way --Outstanding in every way -- food, service and friendliness of the staff.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was outstanding asThe food was outstanding as was the service from the staff and GM Franco Serafin.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMIntimate, quiet restaurantIntimate, quiet restaurant off Washington Park in Greenwich Village
that is spot-on in selection, preparation, portioning, and presentation
of plate-art that tastes as good as it looks. Service is superb and
knowledgeable, easily describing the process and product for each menu item,
when asked. Boutique-farm raised vegetables are treated reverentially, and the
poached fish was perfectly fresh even on a Monday. Wine list is limited but very well chosen and temperature correct. This was one of my most memorable meals in 35 years of food-roaming.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMElegant place, elegant foodsuberb experience. Elegant setting, elegant food, wait staff incredibly professional and knowledgable. Menu can be a bit complicated and overwhelming, but staff is cheerfully helpful. No wonder Obama dined here, a very special place. Extremely well run4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMFavorite spot for special occasionsThe food here is second to none. We always love the local, seasonal dishes and the clever way they're presented.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWent seeking out spring greensWent seeking out spring greens and was not disappointed - a beautiful salad of a variety of raw, lightly steamed or grilled springtime treasures such as ramps, broccoli rabe, and green garlic. main course of lamb was also delicious and a generous portion to boot.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding creative cuisine.Outstanding creative cuisine. Exhilarating food and techniques4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways great!I've been to Blue Hill many times now. It's one of my three favorite restaurants in the village. Try the Emu egg Pasta with immature egg, chanterelles and ramps, the Berkshire Pig
with plums and walnuts, and the Apple beignets with milk jam.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were a few minutes late,We were a few minutes late, but seated with a warmth and a smile at a very special corner table. We are always remembered from years past. All items on the menu were imaginative and enticing. I had a bit of a conundrum around finding something "heart friendly," but the waitress gave special attention to my concerns and conferred with the chief. The service was impeccable, the food delicious, and my partner enjoyed the perfect wine parings. A special birthday dessert was brought to the table, and we did not want the evening to end. Splendid night- we are still talking about our evening at Blue Hill.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat choiceEnjoyed our meal greatly. Food was wonderfully fresh and beautifully plated. Portions were generous. Cocktails, although smallish, were outstanding. Service was very efficient and friendly without being hovering or annoying. This is a very good and well done urban outpost of the rural Stone Barns location. Restaurant could be a very good choice for a romantic dinner or special occassion meal.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing farm-to-table food.Amazing farm-to-table food. Was there for a special 40th birthday celebration and they really catered to us, gave us a very nice corner table as requested and made sure to include a candle on the dessert. We spent 3 hours there and never felt rushed at any point. Looking forward to visiting Stone Barns this summer.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant is one of my top 4I adore Blue Hill for its food, drinks, decor, ambiance, and mos of all for its wonderful staff. I love that it is farm-to-table and hyper-seasonal. I have eaten here twice, and my guests and I enjoyed all aspects, we had no complaints. <34/9/2013 12:00:00 AMI had always heard how wonderfulI had always heard how wonderful Blue Hill was. My dining experience far surpassed my expectations. The food is amazing and the service was great! Our server was very knowledgable about everything on the menu, and really helped us to choose dishes that would provide the best experience for our first time dining there.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was delectable and serviceFood was delectable and service was impeccable, in a very chic and upscale atmosphere!4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I were in NewMy wife and I were in New York to celebrate our 25th Anniversary and were pleased to have been recommended the Blue Hill Restaurant. The restaurant was fantastic, the staff were amazing and the food was incredible. Looking forward to returning to New York and again visiting the Blue Hill.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMSausage appetizer was to dieSausage appetizer was to die for. As with all things New York, prices were high for what you got. But the service was fantastic. Can't say enough about our waitress.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMJust a wonderful experienceJust a wonderful experience overall. Worth every $$$ and wait to gt in!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had dinner at Blue HillWe had dinner at Blue Hill Farm on a Friday night, and everything was delicious: the mini beet cheeseburgers with just a touch of mustard, chickpea fries with spicy aioli, potato gnocchi with pork belly, lamb done just right with beets and wood ear mushrooms, and the chocolate bread pudding. The services was also excellent.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMCell phones during dinner? Really??Blue Hill has impeccable food and service; it is truly an experience to enjoy a meal here. Unfortunately, our most recent dining experience was diminished by the obnoxious couple sitting next to me who insisted on speaking loudly about their personal issues, making several phone calls during the meal, and generally acting as if they were in their living room, showing no consideration whatsoever for other guests. I wish that someone had politely asked them to pipe down, or put their phones away, but I was too intimidated by their self-importance and combativeness to say anything. It kinda ruined my birthday dinner :(4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat spot for entertainingGreat spot for entertaining friends from out of town who know about food and wine.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food. The restaurantExcellent food. The restaurant was a bit fancier than I had expected.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMPhenomenalPossibly the absolute best "farm-to-table" in New York City. Absolutely astounding meal. They were also incredible helpful in working around dietary restrictions. Their staff was knowledgable, passionate, and very nice. Beautiful little dining room. Fun and inventive presentation. Every dish was amazing with the best ingredients.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMA pleasant and talentetedA pleasant and talenteted group of restauranteurs will guide you through your culinary evening at Blue Hill. In the beginning, we had an ominous feeling of being rushed (table turning, which is present at so many good NYC restaurants, seemed to rear its ugly head when the first course wines arrived before I had even started my Martini), but this quickly dissapated and the pace was well tuned to our own wishes. Excellent main courses and polite and informative staff. Our wine was mediocre, but that was my choice. Great deserts and after dinner sweets.
We will definitely go again.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMOur first experience at BlueOur first experience at Blue Hill which I have wanted to go to for a while; then a gift card, wow!It is as wonderful as all else you might have read; altho close tables, the couple to one side had just gotten engaged and Italian restauranters to our other side; a 60-Minutes host in the background, all which created a really great NYC "vibe". But it is the food and the CARE of the food which counts here in the end and you know it matters to the chef; we did the tasting menu with a bottle of a pinot noir bottled just for them; a perfect pair (while I'm sure the wine pairing would be wonderful, this wine really DID it thru all courses); so, you will NOT believe the taste of the last course which was just created; a winner for a long time!3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMExceeded Our High ExpectationsThis was highly recommended by a business acquaintance and it exceeded all expectations. Service, menu, ambiance, food presentation and flavors - all outstanding. Can't wait for our next trip to NYC to enjoy dinner here again.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMSuper Special & Extremely AwesomeOutstanding!!!! Absolutely fantastically exceptional in every respect!!!!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMPerhaps one of the most flavorfulPerhaps one of the most flavorful meals I have ever eaten. Truly an outstanding dining experience.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMNever disappoints. CreativeNever disappoints. Creative seasonal food and fabulous, appropriately attentive staff in this small, intimate dining room on the lowest level of a Village townhouse. Spring for a few of the "bites" that bring some fun to your table while you consider the full menu. Great drink options and allow the waiter to pick wines by the glass to complement the meal or get help selecting an unusual bottle. Erin was great on our last visit.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways wonderfulBlue Hill is always a wonderful experience. It's a very comfortable environment in which to eat extraordinary food, served by a gracious, unpretentious staff. I've probably been there fifty times, and I've never been disappointed.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMOur post-theater dining experienceOur post-theater dining experience at Blue Hill was nothing short of wonderful. The staff, unfazed by our 11pm reservation, was incredibly knowledgable and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious; the menu fully met our expectations and accommodated both the vegetarians and meat lovers among us. A sampling of the snacks for the table is a must! Truly enjoyed the culinary experience, hope to have the occasion to return!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBlue Hill was an intimate,Blue Hill was an intimate, romantic and welcoming dining experience. Our waitress knew the menu in great detail and was able to make good recommendations. Food and wine perfectly matched and would thoroughly recommend!3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFarmer FeastingI had the farmer's feast tasting menu, which was astonishing. The food was not so much about expensive ingredients, but about great wholesome cooking that elevated every single ingredient to its most flavorful state. Tables a little too close to each other though; I didn't appreciate having to hear the conversation of the three people to my left, barely a foot away from my table. All in all, great restaurant that I'll be visiting again.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best dining experiencesOne of the best dining experiences I have had in a long time. Highly recommend - especially the chocolate bread pudding.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMEvery single thing was aboveEvery single thing was above and beyond anything I would have expected or dreamed.
