  • "The food was outstanding- very fresh and new mixing of flavors. we ate the 4 course menu and while the service was impeccable when the food arrived, food came out very slowly. I think there must have been an issue in the kitchen. The staff was extremely polite, knowledgable and helpful. Based on reputation I believe this was a one time hiccup. keep the great healthy food coming. "

  • "I had been to the Blue Hill in Westchester before, but never to the one right here in Manhattan. It is romantic, QUIET (which I appreciate so much), and the food is out of this world. The service was excellent. I can't recommend it highly enough. So delicious, so elegant, upscale and that food! I loved the soap in the bathroom. I went online to see if there was a store, and there is one, but the product is back ordered. But that doesn't detract from a terrific evening. Kudos to this fine restaurant in every way. "

  • "The food was very delicious!! All fresh and farm to table. My mother and I ate there and chose the 4 course menu. I would recommend the following dishes: EIGHT ROW FLINT CORN POLENTA (red cabbage and beet bolognese) -- amazing!! GRASS FED LAMB fighter spinach, parsnips and shiitake mushrooms also very very delicious! The place is small and the service was not nearly at the level of a restaurant like per se, but if you're a foodie, this is definitely a recommended spot. "

  • "Our Chef's tasting meal was extraordinary. Each course was incredibly delicious and flawlessly executed. Some highlights included amazing parsnip and white chocolate puree, lamb belly, and parsnip steak with creamed spinach and caramelized onions which was perfection on a plate. The lamb with beet bolognese was orgasmic. As astonishingly good as the food was, the service was equally fantastic. From the moment we walked in the door, the front of the house staff were warm, friendly, and engaging. They made incredible effort to make sure our dining experience was beyond our expectations. The sommelier also did a tremendous job of matching our wine with a couple of our courses including dessert. "

  • "Just fabulous - every little treat that came from the kitchen, wonderful service, the venison - wow!"

  • "When you remind yourself that everything being served to you came from a farm, "just up the road", your visit becomes more meaningful and enjoyable. That said, portions of almost everything were much to small. Regardless of price. And given that the restaurant is pricy, small servings of everything becomes annoying, fast. It is clear the menu is diverse and all dishes well prepared. But we would be hard-pressed to return given other options NYC has to offer."

  • "Overall good but not as great as we expected given reviews we'd read and price."

  • "We would love to return to Blue Hill. We were prepared to be impressed by the distinctive menu and wine flight, but we were pleasantly surprised by the intimacy of the room and the approachable, friendly staff. We have not one complaint, except we live too far away."

  • "The restaurant itself is charming. Every member of the staff, from the coat check girl to the Maitre d, was kind and considerate. In particular our server, Ella, was delightful. And the food was on another level (even the butter they serve with their bread "basket" was amazing). And- hands down- the best goat cheese I have ever tasted. Truly a special dining experience that I would highly recommend."

  • "Unfortunately two of our party of four were a half hour late and we were constrained to 45 minutes for dinner given plans for a music show. I raised the issue with our waitress given the menu is a four course set configuration and she said it would be no problem. What was a surprise was that this was the case as the four courses were brought out in rapid succession, each was terrific and we didn't feel at all rushed. Fantastic food and service!"

  • "Blue Hill takes the farm to table concept to a new level. Outstanding but simple preparation of fresh food in an upscale atmosphere. I will dine there again on my next trip to NYC."

  • "Outstanding restaurant. Inventive menu with very high quality ingredients. The service was absolutely great. If you like a more traditional steak/seafood/Italian meal, this is not your place. The menu here requires a bit of an adventurous spirit."

  • "Excellent food...so fresh. Was recommended to go to its farm one but this one will do if limited for time and not keen on travelling too far. Every dish was amazing but because the ceiling is low and tables so close...tiny claustrophobic. Will definitely go back if ever in NYC!"

  • "Although we enjoyed our food, we found disappointing to be compelled to prefix menu options. No more a la carte is an adjustment for us."

  • "We went to Blue Hill after reading quite many positive reviews about how great it was, and were actually quite disappointed in the food. Maybe it was lack of luck on that specific date, maybe it's just a question of taste, but both my husband and I were highly disappointed in our main courses (he had fish and I had red meat, so they were two very different dishes). Other than that, the place is nice in many ways - nice quiet atmosphere (if you like quiet), very attentive service."

  • "Very hard to come up with any specific negatives, but after a second visit and high expectations, I just don't find this to be a memorable dining experience. Never been up to Stone Barns, but planning to get there some day. I hope that will provide what this place is missing. Until then, Blue Hill provides high quality food, very well-prepared, small but pleasant space, excellent service."

  • "Service off. Too long to get a first drink order in. Apps were fine but entrees were not served hot so it killed the meal. Like most places, it's not worth saying anything and we were on a business deal so it would have embarrassed us to send it back. There are too many great places in NYC and I guess this one has seen it's day"

  • "Amazing gluten free bread!!!! The service was terrific and so personal. Thank you Nicholas. Everyone was very professional and yet personable. The food was amazing. Great flavor and presentation. The portions were just right. Blue Hill is located in great neighborhood too."

  • "Had an excellent meal. Ordered a Green Chartreuse VEP after the meal. Had ordered same in New Orleans and other places for $19-23/glass. This was $38. Bartender himself was apologetic. Other prices not this out of line. Soured the whole experience."

  • "Went with a friend and had the 'Extended Farmer's Tasting Menu' the food was amazing. Five savory courses and two desserts, I was getting full at the fourth savory course! The place is great. I would definitely come again."

  • "This is the third time I've been to BH over more than 10 years. I have never been disappointed. Food is farm fresh, service is top-notched and the ambience is one of quiet elegance without being stuffy. Spectacular!"

  • "The experience overall was nice, with great service and a nice ambiance. Kind of seemed like an airport lounge combined with a large fancy elevator -- interesting combo of mirrors and wood. Though we had a wonderful evening, we left a little disappointed in the food. The meat dishes we ordered were a little chewy and the veggie dishes were fine tasting but not memorable. Best things were dessert and the champagne we tried. I'd go for the fish if I returned."

  • "Dedication to exceptional quality & consciousness of ingredients beautifully blended with flavor & terrific service. Engaging approach kept the experience from becoming a Portlandia moment -no obsession with sourcing & preparation. We felt we were re-introduced to food we have long known. Parsnips, scallops, salts, butter, brussel sprouts have never tasted so vibrant. Rainy night traffic delayed our arrival. Staff was wonderfully gracious in accommodating our arrival. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a lovely dining experience for any reason."

  • "This is the second time i've dined here and both times the food and service have been outstanding. It is pricey but each dish was excellent and some, such as the honey/grapefruit desert were sublime."

  • "Very unique menu. Awesome service. Great spot. Only downside for during our visit ... no beef or chicken on the menu. Fish, pork, and veggies. Tiny beet sliders to start were delicious. Lemon marshmallows to finish it off!"

  • "First let me write that this IS an excellent restaurant. If they were not in such rarified air in NYC, they would receive 5 stars hands down. A++ service from top down was completely flawless. Hostess with the cool hair style is the best in town. The only critique I have is our server tried to top our our wine after EVERY single sip…slow down champ. Love the wine list, well done. C+ food was all over the board. Goose egg pasta was perfect, scallop appetizer way undercooked (yes I know what you were going for). Purple potato Gnocchi was rubbery and bland. Pork was just OK, but the belly slices were pure fat. Bread service/ desserts were great. B- ambiance was nice, but some tables are packed inches apart as with similar NY floor plans."

  • "Delicious meal. Attentive and professional wait staff. Fantastic ambience. I brought my wife here for her birthday and we had a wonderful night. We were seated in the garden room in the back, which was perfect because it's quieter and more intimate than the main dining room. The restaurant easily accommodated my wife's vegetarian preferences, and they even remembered (from our phone conversation when I confirmed the reservation) that it was her birthday without me having to remind them. (They brought out a small dessert with a candle following our meal, but in a very tasteful and understated way - no singing waiters or anything like that!). All in all a great experience. Highly recommend!"

  • "Room was pleasant looking but nothing very memorable. if the food had been better, i wouldn't have even noticed it was sort of unremarkable. had such high expectations for the food, but some of it was either bland or overdone. i had the hake which, in of itself didn't have much flavor but got its flavor from apple that it was cooked with. unfortunately the apple was so overpowering, that it wasn't that good. vegetables on the fence app was cute when it came out, but really was just tiny crudite. other app with butter, salts, etc. was fun to eat, but really not that flavorful. service was very efficient but rather uptight. i wouldn't go back here or recommend this restaurant since it's so expensive and food was not that great."

  • "Appetizers were exceptional. Entrees missed the mark to the point where we became disappointed with the overall experience. Shame, because everything else worked well."

  • "Very disappointing compared to the sister restaurant in Pocantico Hills. Food was good, not great, but it's priced for great. Very cramped seating area -- no chance of a private conversation (and I heard more than I wanted of my neighbors' private conversations)."

  • "Do the chef's tasting menu and the wine supplement. It is like being wrapped in the best farm-to-table blanket one could ever hope for."

  • "Don't go here if you think it is the same as Bah Farm. Service average. Rushed service. Entrees that look like they should be at Olive Garden."
