  • "Wish the menu had a little more variety to offer.... if you have any sort of gluten intolerance...your choices will be limited. It's also a bit pricey for what you get. It was nice to try... I am sure it is a great spot for a work lunch but I wouldn't return for dinner."

  • "Our first visit to Blue Hill was long overdue. The atmosphere was nice, busy but still felt intimate. The June Baby cocktail was really refreshing and will make for a perfect summer drink. Our food was amazing, my filet was so tender and the truffle aioli sauce went perfectly. The dessert was just as good, the Blue Hill Sundae was to die for, it was gone in 4 seconds. We will be back!"

  • "Went on a Saturday night around 7:30pm. Restaurant was relatively crowded but we were seated in a corner away from most of the noise, which was nice. Waiter was very attentive and checked in on us often but not so often that it was irritating. Ordered the octopus and two flatbreads (Delmarva and Granny Smith Apple and Prosciutto). Both flatbreads were great and paired with an appetizers were more than enough food for me and my partner. The only issue I had was with the lighting being a bit too dim in the dining area. Otherwise, the food was good and I will definitely be going back."

  • "Me and my significant other went out for our usual restaurant hunting when I stumbled upon a hometown gem in the Canton area. When we got in we were immediately seated (due to my reservation, of course). We first started with the cheese plate which was divine and was very flavorful and overpowering. Then the entrees came. I had the Wild Boar Sausage Garganelli which had a subtle yet hearty Italian taste that was delicious and my s/o had the Half Roasted Chicken that was perfectly cooked and also delicious. The waiter was very attentive and humourous and even indulged in our conversation. I would definitely recommend this spot to tourists and hometown patrons."

  • "Blue Hill has terrific food and an even better ambience. It's simply a great night out, and not too expensive for the food, service and ambience. Blue Hill should be a restaurant that lasts a while."

  • "Mentioned in the notes when I reserved our table that it was our anniversary, could we have somewhere out of the way. We got a nice table tucked into a corner and complimentary champagne! Food was great, waiter was attentive but not annoying. Did have to ask for our water to be refilled, but over all a great experience. We've been before and will come again, menu changes seasonally."

  • "I and a friend are working our way through the Top 100 Restaurants in Baltimore. Blue Hill Tavern is on this list and deserves to be. The restaurant is not flashy on the outside, but huge on the inside with ambience to spare. Everything from views of Baltimore to the water wall in the bar. The views are only the beginning, the service is superb and the food is sublime. Nick, our server was there when you wanted him and not when you didn't and was one of those rare waiters who was fully knowledgeable regarding the menu and the perfect beverage to accompany the course. We had five courses and each was a testament to the creativity and care of the chef. I would wholeheartedly recommend Blue Hill and intend to return many times myself."

  • "Food was OK. Tried the crab pizza and that was very good."

  • "My dining partner and I had a lovely dinner on Saturday evening. He started with the mussels (a huge bowl full, with a sauce accented by Natty Boh), while I had the rabbit empanadas, which were delicious - very tender meat, flaky dough, pickled vegs on top for some acidity, and a creamy sauce to complement. For entrees, he selected the crab cakes, which came on a bed of a corn-potato hash and were served with a remoulade on the side. Very respectable, tasty cakes - and he was quite satisfied. I ordered the braised pork cheeks, which were served with a schnitzel-type gravy, crispy herb spaetzle, and red cabbage (accented by juniper berries). My meal was delicious! No dessert, because we were too full, but what a great meal!"

  • "This was my second time at Blue Hill Tavern and I was a little disappointed with the food. I ordered the roast chicken with broccoli and Mac&cheese. The chicken had a very crispy skin but the sauce was salty and it was hard for me to eat. The side items were great along with the service. I must admit I was a little disappointed because my first experience here was great. I bragged about the place to my date and this time around the experience was not that good. My date had the wild boar and it was also a disappointment. I do t know maybe the cooks were a little off that night."

  • "Second time dining here, service impeccable, great food choices and specials, drinks are divine -we had the Santgria and Mojitos! We love this place. Can't wait for summer for outside dining!"

  • "The night started off bad when the server brought our table day old bread. It was so hard it could break a plate. The server said thats how the bread is until we asked her to bring us some more bread which was hot and soft. the servers attitude was extremly poor. As the night went on she improved and we had a great evening."

  • "A solid choice for dining East of Harbor East. Sophisticated look with neighborhood appeal. Not too fancy, Not too casual. There is a wide variety on the menu and the waitstaff and bar tenders have been consistently excellent over several visits. It is a" can't go wrong call' for couples or a group."

  • "We'd been hoping to go to Blue Hill Tavern for awhile. Finally,we got the chance Saturday night. Had a great evening. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. I started with the dirty martini with olive -fabulous. The menu offerings were varied, I had a hard time selecting so our waitress helped me select. I started with mussels and my husband had the octopus both of which were delicious. For our entrees, I had the mushroom dish and was bowled over it was so good. I wouldn't have ordered it but for our waitress' recommendation. My husband had a fish entree and loved it. Desserts were great. We had a bottle of win. The wine list isn't huge but has a good selection of wines and at a variety of price points. Hoping to get back very soon!"

  • "Service good, waiter could have been more attentive. Several times needed something, he was not around.Ordered apps, salads, dinner, timing not good.Salads came out, then 2 apps, then the rest of the apps. Would have preferred apps, salads, dinner. Chopped salad perfect, dressed perfectly, black bean hummus good, not special. Flatbread app good, not special. Crispy escargot very good. Branzino excellent! Fresh, simple, cooked perfectly! Side of spinach, perfect, very generous portion. Veal shank & risotto good, not great. Portion of meat small, not enough, especially for the price. The risotto so-so, not very flavorful. The pork cheeks good but the portion too small, wild boar with pasta excellent, perfect. Candy bar dessert a must get!!!"

  • "My husband and I were visiting Baltimore and a friend recommended Blue Hill. It was restaurant week so I was lucky to get a late table. Love the decor and the blue snakeskin pattern on the chairs. Very tasty 3 courses; I enjoyed the fried goat cheese salad, the veal shank on saffron risotto and the pineapple upside down cake. We also tasted the pana cotta. I'm not a fan, but it was well done. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his mahi mahi. I'm sorry I don't live closer; Blue Hill would definitely be a favorite watering hole."

  • "My husband and I had dinner here for a date night. We were satisfied enough with the food, but it might not be enough to really want to go back. Their burger was not great, and my elderflower cosmopoliton wasn't delicious. The restaurant is nice looking and our server was attentive and friendly. My husband liked his soup and steak, and our dessert was the highlight of the meal. I think if we go again, it'll be with friends."

  • "We made reservations during restaurant week. The service, appetizers and dessert were fantastic; however, our entrees could have had more flavor. I ordered the mahi mahi and my wife ordered the lamb- both were well under seasoned."

  • "We had a little mix up with the bottle of wine we ordered at dinner (due to a typo in the menu, not the servers fault) and within a couple minutes the server had been back to apologize along with the manager. They even took a little something off the bill, even though the bottle of wine we actually got was cheaper than the one we ordered! Fantastic customer service. Will definitely be back."

  • "Four of us went to Blue Hill Tavern for Baltimore City Restaurant Week. I was surprised at how cool and posh the restaurant was. The ambiance was great, and I felt like we were dining in a hip NYC restaurant! I hadn't heard much about Blue Hill but my boyfriend really wanted to go. The food was excellent and so was the service. We spent about 2 hours in the restaurant and never felt rushed and our waiter was great! They also had FREE valet which was a perk since it was a bit chilly out and it was easier than looking for parking. I have already recommended Blue Hill to a bunch of friends, and I will definitely be back!"

  • "We had a party of 6, as always service was great and the food was delicious. A little disappointed in the serving size for the veal hindshanks, plenty of risotto but light on the meat. Otherwise a wonderful evening"

  • "Even though it was restaurant week (menu tends to be more vanilla) we were pleased with the food. It could have used more seasoning but everything from veal to fish was cooked perfectly and the presentation was simple and clean. The free valet parking was a very nice considering how crowded the neighborhood is."

  • "I felt that we were being rushed through our dinner. It seemed we were being tucked away because we were not paying regular prices for our meal . Just did not have that seem feeling, I have been to your restaurant on several occassions and it just was not the same !!!"

  • "I had the best semi-dirty martini I've ever had with bleu cheese-stuffed olives. It was balanced, smooth, and a delight to the palate. Having been to Blue Hill on a few other occasions, I knew that I could trust the presentation and preparation, so this made me adventurous. I tried the rabbit empanadas which were flavourful and beautifully plated. The grilled octopus paired with marinated chickpeas was a pure revelation. I'd never have considered that marriage, but the garbanzo beans brought balance to the appetizer and served as a lovely bed for the squid. Every element of the meal was perfect from inception to execution. Blue Hill wins big points for aesthetic sensibility, too. I love the blue/brown modern/vintage feel of the space."

  • "I had been to Blue Hill Tavern twice prior to this visit and my experiences have all been spectacular. I took my boyfriend for his bday and it was actually restaurant week which we hadn't planned but ended up ordering from the restaurant week menu. Everything we had was fabulous. The rabbit empanadas and and prosciutto mozzarella appetizers were divine. He got the rack of lamb and I ordered the mahi mahi. Outstanding. The fish was hot right from the grill and the lamb wasn't the least bit gamey. We both enjoyed our meals and sampled each others as well. We ordered the Panna Cotta Almond Cake and candy bar dessert. Unlikely, the almond cake stole the show! Recommended by our server, too. Even got a bday candle for the boy. GREAT service!"

  • "The food and ambience was fantastic, one of the best in canton by far. I was disappointed in the service when it came down to ordering gluten free. I felt like I was being mocked by the server for not being able to eat rice or pasta, and then she charged me extra for steamed broccoli instead of saffron risotto. The food was so good that it made up for rude service on her end, but was still embarrassed to be gluten free."

  • "Memorable dining experience. The atmosphere was elegant and relaxing. The menu offered some unique items like pork cheek schnitzel, the meat was tender and delicious. Great wine list both by the glass and by the bottle. Having complimentary valet was also a plus."

  • "Very few vegetarian options, other than pizza and salad. The kobe beef hamburger was disappointing. The steak was good. I ordered the pork cheeks. The waiter said that the chef told the waitstaff to describe the dish as similar to pork belly. It was more like pieces of short rib, in a very ordinary brown sauce. The person who ordered the pizza asked for extra tomato sauce, and after a long wait it finally came. Nice setting, the wait staff is well intentioned, but not particularly knowledgeable. Free valet parking a plus. Avoid being near the front; the drapes are not effective in blocking the cold when the front door is open. Nice bar."

  • "I booked this so far in advance that when it got close I forgot why I had picked Blue Hill Tavern. I was going to cancel but went back to the Open Table reviews and remembered why we felt this restaurant deserved a try. While we know that Valentine's day, especially on a Friday may not be a fair judge. Our experience was great. Nicole(bar) and Jonathon(our waiter) were very attentive. We were seated upstairs off the mezzanine and it was a great location for conversation. My Chateaubriand was delicious and cooked perfectly and husband's surf and turf was good too. Being spoiled with crabcakes they maybe had a little too much filler for us. The desserts were decadent. All in all a great meal and we will be back."
