  • "Everything exceeded expectations. For those who love food and farms and stories, there could be no better experience. We highly recommend the wine pairing set so that you make 1 decision and then the entire evening unfolds before you. Can't wait to have a reason to return."

  • "This is my 4th time at the restaurant - probably my least favorite food selection. Always beautiful presentation and delicious food. Because they serve what is currently available for Harvest, April has to be a tough month for the chef. Most everything was tasty as always - amazing that they can make garden weeds into a tasty treat - and who knew that moss can be edible?!? We opted for the more expensive of the 2 tasting menus with wine pairing for 3 or the 4 of us and the tab was a hefty $1600. Wonderful experience but you certainly pay a premium for the artful presentation. Service was top notch as always."

  • "I wanted to treat my husband, who is somewhat of a foodie, to a memorable dining experience, and he was not disappointed! The waitstaff went above and beyond for our party and each dish from the kitchen was exquisite. I'm not even a fan of beets, but they made a believer out of me with their mini beet burger sliders. Absolutely incredible! The ambience was romantic and upscale but not stuffy at all. I hope we can return again in this lifetime. "

  • "What can you say about a restaurant that both educates and inspires? Blue Hill at. Stone Barns is not just a farm to table restaurant but an education on the future of sustainable farming and a preview of what our food supply could be. Having said all that it is easy to recommend this restaurant because the food is delicious, creative and wonderfully presented. The service is perfection, probably the best there is. Don't believe reviews that say you don't get a lot of food, everyone in our party felt that it was really a substantial amount. I would also recommend the wine pairing, they serve some very interesting wines that you would not come across anywhere else."

  • "This is the 6th or 7th time my wife and I have dined here either as a couple or with larger groups of good friends - we can't say enough superlatives about every touchpoint in the restaurant - from front of house to kitchen and everything in between. Always so very special and memorable."

  • "The service was stellar, the cocktails were stellar, the food was amazing. All my expectations were exceeded. The price is high, but for a special occasion it's worth it! Plus, you can spend all day exploring the property and the shop, see the animals on the farm. It's a wonderful experience that you can make a day out of, and I can't wait to go back."

  • "We went for the "Rooting and Pecking" menu, which started off promisingly enough with a showcase of micro veggies and largely untouched greens, moving into dishes that were more "hands on." After 3.5 hours, we were left rather underwhelmed. We've done tasting menus at high-end restaurants, and while the ingredients were beautiful, there was no depth of flavor. Only twice did I close my eyes and say, "Mmm," (beet jerky, and dessert with tea). The chocolate & liver was like eating the smoothest, most decadent potpourri on earth. Kept hoping the meal taken as a whole would make up for individual shortcomings, but the flavors just weren't there and, overall, it was very salty. The service, however, was wonderful."

  • "We had a wonderful food experience that really expanded our relationship with food. The menu starts slow with simple vegetables and greens eaten by hand and then becomes more creative and playful by presenting you with simple food from the farm in a unexpected way. It was delicious and fun. Wine pairing was also unexpected and explained in an instructive manner . All in all we celebrated our anniversary with terrific food presentations and impeccable service."

  • "This was a girls night out. We chose the tasting menu. That meant 4 hrs of dining! Each course was small but we were all stuffed by the end of the meal. We enjoyed the explanations that came with each course but next time I would do the regular service. The food was extremely fresh. Some of the offerings were unexpected (the beet, yes beet, jerky was amazing for example). The service was absolutely impeccable. At the end of the evening our cars were all waiting, doors open and heat on. The food is seasonal. I plan to go again in the summer and see what they can do with the greater variety that will be available."

  • "It was not just a dinner, it was an event and a happening. The food was delicious, the service excellent, the presentations extraordinary. Even though the food was heavily tilted towards common vegetables: parsnips, rutabaga, kohlrabi, cabbage, spinach, kale, cauliflower, beets, etc. one would never guess. Everything tasted exotic and different. Although super-expensive, I would not hesitate to go again for a special occasion."

  • "At the forefront of the farm-to-table movement for the last 10 years, this restaurant is on the grounds of a working farm and uses food from that farm (plus their other Mass. farm) to create their artful, innovative, spectacular food. The service is warm, personal, efficient and on top of everything. This is not just a meal, it is an experience to dine here (I don't want to ruin any surprises for you, but suffice it to say the dinner experience is not just about the food on your plate). While expensive as far as most restaurants go, after our three hour multi-dimensional dinner experience, we felt it was worth every penny and were already making plans to return."

  • "An experience you have to try at least once. Tiny portions but many of them. It is art more than it's food. It's something that i enjoyed going to but wouldnt necessarily go there for the food. We had tiny little carrots and root vegetables. We were grazing the entire time on things sometimes too tiny to pick up - but very elegant. Dessert not to be missed another presentation."

  • "I went here with my boyfriend for his birthday. The staff was very attentive and food was delicious. You don't get to choose what you eat as it's based on what's available at the farm but we ate everything they served and there were only a few items we weren't crazy about. It's a great special occasion place to have dinner. Although it is expensive it's a uniques experience and is a beautiful setting. The only complaint I have is that we got a car service to take us to and from the restaurant to our hotel and ended up having to wait about 20 minutes after we had left our table. I'm not sure what the problem was but it did take away from the experience."

  • "I've written about food for close to 20 years and eaten at many of the world's top restaurants, but none have shown me such generosity and destroyed me with so much excess as Blue Hill Stone Barns. We took the shorter 5-course menu as we were in the depths of winter and at a time when their extensive gardens would be least productive. How wrong we were - a bounty of preserved and pickled produce means Blue Hill can have an abundant menu year-round - and today was no exception. What followed was a magical wonderland of a meal, with more snacks and tidbits than I can remember including, with much surprise, one course eaten in the kitchen. This place is well worth your patronage - it will be one of the best meals of your life."

  • "Dined over a romantic getaway weekend with my boyfriend. Staff, especially Hugo, exceeded expectations in delivering impeccable, courteous service. Robert, maitre d', was warm and charming. Warmer weather allows for a stroll around the grounds and neighboring Rockefeller State Park Preserve. A must go for those seeking an adventurous twist on seemingly standard ingredients. I never knew vegetables could taste so good!"

  • "Hands down the best meal ever! It was such a wonderful experience! I recommend going when it's light out to really see the whole barn!"

  • "The creativity is sublime! One of my favorite restaurants. Even in the winter where fresh food availability from the farm is limited they served a diversified and outstanding tasting menu. Can't wait for our spring visit!"

  • "I was so impressed with this restaurant, it was definitely worth the trip. The restaurant is set in a beautiful farm, although it was cold weather, we took about an hour before the dinner to walk around the farm to see the animals and vegetables, which is really worth it. The meal takes about 4 hours, so our 5pm dinner sitting was perfect. The dining room is a beautiful country barn and the service impeccable. Loved the farm-to-table concept. We had the 148USD Farmer's Feast which was amazing. The first half of the meal was a series of small plates, all vegetables and eaten with our fingers! All dishes were delicious and innovative. Especially loved the tacos, kale, baby vegetables from the garden, beet burgers and the ricotta!"

  • "My husband and I may be the rare diners at Blue Hill who ate there spontaneously: one Sunday we saw an open 2:30 seating, and jumped on it. To give context, we love experimenting and don't care if it's white linen or a dive, as long as the food is great; fabulous food can be found for a fraction of the price of Blue Hill. All that said... This was hands down one of the top 5 meals I've had in my life - food, service, and ambiance. We had the grazing menu with wine pairings and each course was a delight. In fact our delight must have been obvious, since we were invited to sit in the kitchens and enjoy some courses there. The seasonal menu rocked (and luckily for this time of year, we love beets!). We'll definitely be back in summer or fall!"

  • "The food is fresh and great, but portion is too small. And for the three hours, we were waiting for each course in between for at least 10-15 minutes. Long night. But it was refreshing after dinner, me and my guest felt satisfied but not stuffed as in most restaurants, nice place to take your guests for a piece of NY history. The tag is astonishing thought even for us who usually do not care about the price."

  • "Dinner was both delicious and a theatrical event. Each course was more fabulous than the last, served by knowledgeable waitstaff. The arc of the eve, after gorgeously-presented seasonal vegetables, was the venison. Who knew the latter could be buttery, non-gamey, and extraordinarily satisfying. A chocolate still life, again like a small theater set, was supplemented by the thoughtful birthday carrot cake."

  • "Anything I say will be inadequate to describe how special dining here was. The restaurant is a quiet, sophisticated, beautiful venue that you might imagine, but simply can't find. The food is extraordinary, for being fresh, flavorful, celebratory, and natural. The service was, of course, wonderful as well, and very knowledgable regarding the farm's operations and history. I simply shall say that my husband's and my experience was like having a brief vacation, a world away, right in Tarrytown. Don't come here if you want a plate of lasagna, but do if you want to celebrate simple, exquisite, pure food."

  • "Brunch didnt disappoint! we chose the 'farmer's feast' menu with 6-8 courses - everything was beautifully served and impeccably prepared. on top of our individual plates, we got a number of small appetizers at the start of the meal. Brunch menu this year, as opposed to our prior visits, had a heavier emphasis on vegetables and fewer meat dishes, but everything was so delicious and imaginative, you couldnt have asked for a more perfect meal. i've only been here for brunch and it has been perfect every time. look forward to coming back and bringing other friends & family to this fantastic dining destination!"

  • "We have always greatly enjoyed dinner at Blue Hill however we have always gone in Sumner or early Autumn. Winter obviously does not allow for the same variety of foods as little is growing. We we're a bit put off that they charged us the same cost we paid in October but we were given less food and very little variety. We easily had 6 beet centric courses. We will go back someday I'm sure, but never ever in Winter. This was the first time that I left angry with bill, feeling that we didn't get what we paid for."

  • "Absolutely fantastic dining experience. It was amazing what the kitchen could do with such varied and yet common foods. The vegetables were wonderful and I am not a big vegetable eater. Presentation was humorous, fascinating and remarkable all at the same time. Eating with our fingers for almost half the meal was a novelty but certainly not uncomfortable in any way. Our servers were attentive, very knowledgeable, and very pleasant while retaining a professional demeanor. Planning to return in a different season to see what the kitchen comes up with for the foods available. A "must" experience!"

  • "Blue Hill at Stone Barns is something we now treat ourselves to as a dining experience for anniversaries, birthdays, special events, because it is such a special experience. The inventiveness of the food, the quality of the preparation and cooking, the beauty of the setting, the storytelling and sense of provenance for the food. It's magical. This particular visit a few days ago fell short of our expectations on service. Timing and pacing was off, and a little lackluster. It marred an otherwise exceptional dinner. Hopefully it was just an off day."

  • "What a great night! The food was delicious and so fresh! All of the servers were wonderful. We chose not to do the wine pairing, since we were there on a weeknight but instead had the sommelier suggest wines throughout the course of our meal. They were all fantastic. We were there on a rainy day in March, so it wasn't as scenic as it could be, but we hope to go back again in the spring!"

  • "Blue Hill is consistently outstanding. My husband and I visit 1 or 2x a year for birthdays and it truly is a special treat. A creative, unique, and memorable dining experience. Plan in advance for it takes forever to secure a reservation."

  • "We are foodies and gardeners, so this meal was a combination of everything we love. We traveled from Florida specifically to eat at this restaurant and it did not disappoint. We met our college-age children, and they were very happy to spend a portion of their Spring Break in NY to experience this meal as a family. Plan to make an evening of it, as it's not a rushed experience. The creative genius' innovative interpretation of food is inspirational. We came home and planted beets! It's expensive, but well worth it."

  • "Toured the farm, had a drink in the lounge by the fireplace and then had the Farmer's Feast. More than enough food, we laughed when we realized an hour in we were still on the amuse bouches. Everything was beautifully plated and interesting, really highlighted the local vegetables, especially beets. A meal to remember."

  • "Memorable dining experience from start to finish. The Farmer's Feast was more than ample to satisfy the average appetite. Great sauces, seasonings and presentation. Some of my favorites were the liver pate and chocolate, assorted dwarf vegetables, fresh egg, potato and bacon, and the poached salmon. Dinner took 3 hours so this not a place to go if you are in a hurry."

  • "From the entrance taking the walkway through the arch and into the farmhouse dining room to the end 3+ hours later this was an amazing experience of refinement, depth, innovation and precision. Surprises one after the other, including being led to a table set in the kitchen for a course, the experience is still being relived, re-examined. Something special for sure."

  • "We know Blue Hill At Stone Barns from some time ago when the menu had 4 sections to choose from. Now it is a predetermined menu and would be considered strange by some. Artistically it was quite an experience and I wish I'd had a good camera to photograph the presentations. But one would have to love vegetables as it was mainly a. Vegetarian menu. It was worth it for the experience especially since $300 of the bill was a gift certificate. And we still ended up paying $150 more for the 2of us and we only had wine by the glass and one cocktail each.. we are sophisticated diners and this is a niche restaurant and best if someone else is paying! We would not go back. s"
