  • "It's an unforgettable experience. The view, the atmosphere & especially the service. The food; There truly are no words to describe it. You gotta taste it to believe it. Just exquisite in every sense of the word."

  • "Yes, it's costly. But if you view it as service as choreography, dining as an oasis, overall experience as a transporting journey, with surprises at every turn, you won't dwell on that thought for long. My suggestion: there is no menu - you're asked at the outset what you'd prefer not to have, or what allergies you have so they can prepare accordingly, stop and consider this as well: When you go to a restaurant, you choose what you want from a menu. Here, they've turned that upside down. Be an active chooser: ask for certain things you'd like to have. The one and only shortcoming that I found- I would have liked to have had some poultry, as well as the beef and fish - but I blame myself. I never asked for that, specifically."

  • "from the very beginning the entire experience was extraordinary - i cannot say enough about every aspect of the food, service and ambience. while i am not a fan of the expression 'out of the box', it is and accurate description of an exceptional evening. other worldly michelin 3 star!!"

  • "BH@SB was a singularly unique dining experience. Dishes came almost immediately after we were seated with servers that told us unique factoids on the foods we were eating or about their sustainable agricultural practices. Each dish was impressive in that while small, were flavorful and intense. The small plates should not fool you--the sheer amount of plates that came had us full before the second course was done. We were surprised with a invite to the kitchen and were able to watch the chefs work as we ate a few courses inside--they noted my off-hand comment that it was our anniversary! I was so impressed with our host Patrick--he was incredibly affable and knowledgeable. Wine pairing is recommended. Business casual dress was appropriate."

  • "Rather than echo the oft-repeated sentiments about Bue Hill's delectable cuisine, dazzling presentation or fabulous setting (indoors and out), I want to explain what it was, exactly, about our experience that was so different from meals at other fancy restaurants. My friend and I arrived early to wander the farm (no scheduled tour)and stumbled upon one of the beekeepers, who treated us to an impromptu tour of the hives and a lesson on apiculture. He showed us a secret path that led through the farm and back up to the diningroom. This very personal moment led to another, midway through the meal, when we were escorted to the kitchen to watch master chefs at work. An entirely unexpected invitation, it made us feel very special--and so at home."

  • "Blue Hill offers the most opulent setting for fine dining as well as a prestigious experience. From start to finish you feel like you are on a culinary journey that is simply magical. The service is absolutely divine without being presumptuous!! The fare is simply yet elegant creations which has you yearning for your next visit. Looking forward to my next excursion at this stupendous establishment!!!"

  • "If money is no object than this is the place for you. At a price of about $200 a person this is not for everyone. There is no menu but they do ask is there anything you are allergic to or is there something you will not eat. I feel that even though the courses are small there are too many of them and as a result too much food. During the 3 hour dinner the manager comes to your table and takes you for a walk into the kitchen where there is a table set up for you to have the next course. After finishing that course they take you back to your table for a few more courses."

  • "Words fail. The moment we entered the dining room with its extravagant wisteria vine frame filled with waterfalls of exquisite orchids, our sense of anticipation reached a summit from which it did not descend until the final gentle swallow of the 2000 Pinot Noir (which no force on earth could have kept me from finishing!) This is, simply, a perfect dining experience. I have been so lucky to have consumed high quality food artistry in many settings. Make your reservation and don't wait for a special occasion. Trust me."

  • "This is a very special place for a very special dinner. It will take 3 hours and you will be served 30 dishes. The food is perfect. the location is breathtaking. Take your time. Enjoy the food, the atmosphere and relax."

  • "My husband and I were just here for our 1 year anniversary. This was truly our most memorable food experience in the past 5 years living in NYC. Everything from the service, food, presentation was outstanding. Thank you for making our night memorable"

  • "The farm is beautiful. Fresh veggies and all starters were a delight, but then the evening slowed down in all respects. Much time was spent with empty glasses waiting for whatever was next. Servers need training-- milling around, looking confused, no one seemed to be in charge of our tablle. Descriptions of food and wine were strangely minimal, even when we asked questions. Main courses were unremarkable-- pork under-cooked and tenderloin tough. Four hours and $900 later (for a couple), the servers suddenly seemed eager to clear everything away. No one said good-bye or thank you. For that price, a small goody bag with some honey or jam from the farm would have been nice, with a warm thank you."

  • "I took my boyfriend to Blue Hill for his birthday, and it was bar far the best dining experience we have ever had. Every bite of food, no matter how small or large, was incredible, and made from the freshest ingredients from the farm. The service was the best we've seen, and our waiter was incredibly knowledgable and extremely personable. We are already looking forward to our next trip there!"

  • "My third time at Blue Hill-Stone Barns, and I feel like the food and the experience keep getting better and better. Blue Hill is fun, engaging, challenging, inspirational... I can't wait to go back. The only thing that surprised me during this visit was the staff. Some of the servers and even captains were uninformed and couldn't answer questions about the food or the farm."

  • "I thought Dan Barber's mission was to educate all of us about organic, sustainable agriculture. I agree with him wholeheartedly. However, his elitist restaurant is available only to the richest people. It is silly in every aspect. I enjoyed myself, but found I was feeling not only too late to the party, but way over charged for it. There must be a better way to do this. Alice Waters and Dan Barber need to get back to basics and not only educate the public about good food, but feed them in their restaurants at prices that allow more people to enjoy the experience."

  • "My girlfriend and I were both excited and skeptical about going to Blue Hill for dinner. It's far out of our price range. As entry-level college administrators, we were coaxed with a gift certificate. We expected the experience to be enjoyable, but were skeptical that the food could be appropriately valued at $200 per person (before wine). We were blown away. The 15 (or more?) courses were incredible, the staff accommodated our dietary needs into the full experience and were tremendously hospitable, and we left feeling like we had experienced Barber's conceptual second and third plates. The place has an Utopian-farm feel to it - not because it's trying to reproduce the feeling of a sustainable food system, but because it's inventing it."

  • "The Blue Hill is exceptional. The father of farm-to-table, it has raised it to the highest level. There is little to compare it to as it is in a class by itself. The setting is glorious, the food an once in-a-life-time experience and the service beyond impeccable. For those with a serous interest in exceptional food or the seriously curious this is a must."

  • "This was the best overall dining experience my wife and I have ever had, all the way from the food to the service to the scenic setting. Yes it is expensive. However, if you can suck it up for a special occasion, you definitely get your money's worth. Also, this place is for the open-minded eater. If you're not you will probably be disappointed. If your open, you will not be disappointed."

  • "I would recommend this place to anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion. The service is extraordinary and the grounds and views are unbelievable. The food was exquisitely prepared and a real delight to the tastebuds. Be prepared to stay a long time - about 3 hours - the food just kept coming and the educational information on the farm was wonderful. Favorite plates were the pig liver with chocolate, poussin with berries and pea mini burgers! Presentation and service was top notch. Wish you could dine like this all the time :-)"

  • "Blue Hill is one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at. The whole meal is a culinary experience that everyone needs to try at least once in their lives. Unfortunately, after going once, you will want to go again and again. I have been to Blue Hill eight times so far and each time the experience has been on par with 3 star michelin restaurants. The bill will be high, but the experience is worth it."

  • "memorable feast. food so fresh and imaginative, especially all the appetizers of garden new spring veggies all beautifully presented. Service outstanding, setting lovely. Yes, it was quite a meal of many unusual courses, one offered in the kitchen(a very special experience).expensive, but worth it."

  • "Our last dinner took almost 4 hours. They did not serve any food for over 20 minutes, even though most diners had no cocktail. Then there was a long wait between each of 10 courses. I would have ordered fewer but you can't; they only offer a 10-course menu, so that meant over 3 hours of just sitting, not eating. Not only is there no choice on how many courses you get, there is no choice of what any course will be. It's a totalitarian ethos, the diner's wishes are meaningless. And the wine ordering is bizarre; somm only asks basic vague questions. But what do the answers even matter if you don't know what the wine is served with? They need to speed it up!"

  • "We received a gift certificate for our wedding. It was truly an amazing experience. We are pretty laid back and not into stuffy fine dining (we opt for beer over wine and enjoy a laid back atmosphere). We felt taken care of and did not feel out of place. The service staff was very knowledgable and friendly. Since I am in the food world, I really appreciate and respect their on farm restaurant experience. We toured the grounds before our meal and their system of agriculture is truly transparent. A great way for people to learn where their food really comes form. The least pretentious fine dining experience I've had. Only a special occasion visit for us, but would highly recommend. Wish I could afford to dine there more often!"

  • "Food service and ambiance. All 5 star. This is the pinnacle of dining in our area. The tasting meal is always an adventure (in a wonderful way), the staff is courteous, professional and attentive, but not intrusive. The farm to table menu reveals freshness that is unparalleled. Try to tour the grounds to actually see what you're eating. Its quite an experience."

  • "My husband and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary there (and my birthday!). It was truly magical evening with iron chef food. Straight from the farm just tastes better. And the service was perfectly orchestrated. A peaceful pace, and an elegant dance - every thing got served at the exact right moment."

  • "This place is perfect in every way. It seemed perfect the last time we dined here (tho service lagged at times), but is exponentially better now. I'm not a fan of 2 digit course meals, but usually go along to get along. After our recent meal at BH@SB, I've decided that the only 12+ tasting experience I will ever arrange again will be at Stone Barnes; not even 11 Madison Park or Alinea. This food is of this earth and tastes heavenly. The serving plates and dishes are now of this earth, in a very clever way. A very special place."

  • "Fourth time dining here; each time it has been a flawless, magical dining experience. Amazing how often they mix up the menu based on the freshest available ingredients; such a creative kitchen & they consistently maintain such an astonishingly high level. Definitely the most beautiful, romantic, one of a kind setting I have ever dined in & some of the friendliest, most competent staff anywhere. The food itself is beautiful, fun, fresh & beyond delicious; they do the best job of any restaurant adjusting the courses to match your likes & dislikes (just express them). Perhaps the only weakness I can think of would be I would prefer a little larger portions of meat in the meat courses, but overall I definitely left full. Cannot wait to return!"

  • "Everything was terrific, the food, the service and the setting. Extensive wine list. We were offered two tasting menus, but no regular menu. We chose the "grazing" option - many, many small and delicious bites The prices were not disclosed and I did not ask. Should you go here, you may want to know the prices ahead if time. It was a wonderful time. "

  • "We took the 40 minute hike prior to dinner, guided around this beautiful, working, farm by the provided phone app. Our dinner included so many creative food items, presentations, and wonderful wine pairings, that I regretted only that I had not written them all down. Being invited to sit in the working kitchen for one course was also a highlight. The service was pleasant, attentive, and completely informative when I posed our myriad curious questions. This is gourmet farm-to-table cuisine, beautifully chosen, prepared, and presented."

  • "We had been to Blue Hill at Stone Barns for my very special birthday in a private dining room with many family members. This past Saturday we celebrated our 35th in the main dining room. It was a very special experience. Romantic room, impeccable service, very interesting and innovative tasting menu and wine pairing. The service from the valet to the waitstaff to the person who checked my coat was the best I have ever experienced. Really I can't say enough about how wonderful the service was. The best place ever for a special occasion!"

  • "Some Quick Notes For Those Wanting To Go: Try to have a drink and start your course on the terrace. The meal is really an incredible experience and if you go with that mindset you'll be able to justify the cost. An earlier reservation is key - the whole experience took between 4 - 5 hours. If the store is open, you can buy produce, eggs, frozen meets at the restaurant will keep them in the fridge or freezer for you. They will accommodate almost every allergy or good dislike and tailor the meals accordingly / individually. "
