This restaurants holds its staff to very high standards and it shows. the minute you drive in the valet asks for your last name to match it with your reservation and when you walk out your car is waiting for you which is great, especially when it is cold. The wait staff is very well prepared and knows every detail of the dishes you are served and is ready to ask any question you may have. The kitchen is a fun and vibrant place to visit and if you are not asked to go please ask the staff to take you there for a look at what seems to be an industrial manufacturing line of work. Every dish is served in a very interesting and organic manner with earthy plates, some stone, some wood. The flavors explote in your mouth and make you look forward to every single little bite. We only go once a year because it is expensive but it is worth every penny. The wait staff is very attentive and they are constantly walking around the dining room looking at the customers to make sure every need is taken care of. We will be back for sure.

The service was top notch, the experience was outstanding. There were lots of veggies to begin the dinner, I know they are organic and the presentation is wonderful but lacked a bit when it came to creativity, but the overall night was great, very educational, I didn't mind paying the hefty price tag.

Expensive, but well worth it. My wife is vegetarian, and this was the first meal ever where I preferred her menu to mine. Service was impeccable, with little surprises that made all the difference, like inviting us into the kitchen to enjoy our first course at a table overlooking all the action. I was particularly impressed at how they seamlessly paced our courses and making it feel like both the vegetarian and meat dishes were equally as important and intentionally paired so that we both enjoyed each course.

Poor service, arrogant and snobbish, very proud (not taking pride in) of their products and restaurant - as a result, servers/managers challenge the diners when praises/expectations aren't met. Honestly, even food was overrated. Farm to table concept gone too far, imo. Simply not impressed. Not worth the trip from the city, but trying it out once just to see what the hype is all about might not be a bad idea.

Few innovative and original dishes, specially around tasty organic vegetables. Wine pairing is correct with also original cider and beer servings. Service short of words and too distant. "Farm" style ambiance but lacking the details to make it warm and stylish. Dan Barber could take an example of what Berasategui is doing in the Basque Country in Northern Spain (also a country house) and learn how to train the staff to produce impeccable service and create a first class dinning experience. Nice but not great. It lacks refinement and elegance.

If you're a hedge fund manager and have 3 hours to kill while spending a rdiculous amount of money on food and wine, then this is the place for you. This is the most self consciously precious establishment I've ever been to. The food was good of course--but almost exclusively vegetarian. An egg course? Oh come on. And they get you up to go to another room-and then back to your original table. Just too cute. This is the place to go if you want to impress yourself.

This is really an experience and not just a place to eat dinner. The food was amazing and very different especially with the original and unique use of vegetables. My only complaint is there was not really that much meat at all for the price I paid I would have expected at least a little more, not that I left hungry which I didn't just wish there was a little more meat.

Blue Hill Stone Barns is a truly amazing dining experience. The food was so fresh and each dish was comprised of so much flavor. We must have had over ten courses, each course comprised of 6-7 dishes. For one of our courses, our waiter asked if we would like to go on an adventure and we were escorted to a private room where it was just the two of us and we had one of our courses out there. It was very romantic and the staff made our visit truly memorable. The courses start off with in-season vegetables (radishes, broccoli rabe, cauliflower, cabbage chips etc.) and then get increasingly more substantial (bread with fresh ricotta, deconstructed ham sandwich, pastrami, veal, pork, tomato burgers, lobster mushrooms etc.)

The food comes via a chef-selected tasting menu featuring seasonal, locally grown and raised items. The wine pairing was excellent, but pricey. The swordfish tacos were a bit salty but everything else was amazing. I don't usually like tomatoes but I devoured several tomato-based items. Incredible. For the last course you are taken to the chef's table in the kitchen - a nice touch. Service was prompt and professional albeit robotic. A more personable approach with detailed descriptions of the selections would seem more in line with such a high-end venue.

We booked dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary and what a charming night that turned out to be. While the food was great, my favorite course were the veggies in the beginning and dessert at the end, the plating was quirky and different and really set the mood of the night. Our highlight was the "field trip" to the manure shed where we had one of the courses out there although it seems like different patrons experienced different locations for that course. All in all, a great place to come and experience something different.

The food was to die for. When you consider how many superb dishes you are served (over 30) the cost is well worth it. The service was outstanding, perfect yet casual. Timing was spot on. The dining room is gorgeous, elegant yet casual. The middle of the room had drying flowers hanging from the ceiling and so the smell was wonderful as well. We walked away saying best meal of our lives.

The meal at Blue Hill Stone Barns is more than just a meal, it is a complete sensory experience. Being a "farm to table" chef myself I have been dying to eat at Blue Hill Stone Barns and it more than delivered! My wife and I got there about 2 hours early, just enough time to stroll around the pastures, green house and gardens to really get a feel for the place. It is magnificent. Absolutely beautiful. This was a meal that almost forces you to connect or re-connect with food and nature. Everything is deceptively simple but outrageously delicious! I mean multiple courses were "the best thing I've ever eaten". They really do something very very special there. If you don't mind the price and are open to a life changing experience go there now!

We had the tasting menu and added the flight of paired wines. The service is incredibly good, the food is very interesting and well-presented, and the ambiance is incredible. It is an old, huge stone barn which was part of the Rockefeller estate. You have a limited selection such almost everything is raised on the property. The one caveat is that it is very expensive. Tasting menu for two, flight of wines for one, and several cocktails came to just over $660.00. For most, that will limit the number of visits. But for a unique experience on a special occasion, definitely a place to go.

who is into food. The location is unbeatable, the food as fresh as humanely possible and the service super professional. Eating here is an adventure as you have no idea what is coming next. Every vegetable presented is miniature concentrated flavor and size. I loved it and yet at the same time was unsettled. There is a lack of warmth in the food and the service. I prefer to know what I'll be eating and for how many courses. I think that through our meal of at least 15 courses, only one time did we have a standard plate and it was square. The service is exceptional yet a different person brings out each course so you never have any conversation with them. Definitely worth trying once.

The experience was excellent but not worth the money. The chef is extremely creative and talented and the food very good. Some dishes were somewhat salty and the pork course was actually tough which totally surprised me. We had the 10 course grazing menu and ironically that what some of the courses were - grazing on "weeds". The oysters and liver pates were the highlight. The venue is beautiful. The service was excellent. We had received a gift certificate otherwise we would never had dined here given the ridiculous cost and lack of options for dining. I was also surprised we had to pay for coffee after having paid $196 pp for dinner.

Eating at Blue Hill is not just a dinner, it is an experience. From the beautiful setting, to the service and of course the amazing food- One always feels like they are the center is attention. Each and every course is unique and it is all linked to the high quality of seasonal ingredients. The only caveat is that there no options but the full blown tasting menu so you are in for the long, and not cheap, ride. I personally loved it, but some of our party did not. Overall, I find Blue Hill at Stone Barns to be the best restaurant in the try state area, if not beyond, with a great concept and even better delivery. You will crave some of those dishes for days after your meal.

Yes, it's costly. But if you view it as service as choreography, dining as an oasis, overall experience as a transporting journey, with surprises at every turn, you won't dwell on that thought for long. My suggestion: there is no menu - you're asked at the outset what you'd prefer not to have, or what allergies you have so they can prepare accordingly, stop and consider this as well: When you go to a restaurant, you choose what you want from a menu. Here, they've turned that upside down. Be an active chooser: ask for certain things you'd like to have. The one and only shortcoming that I found- I would have liked to have had some poultry, as well as the beef and fish - but I blame myself. I never asked for that, specifically.

BH@SB was a singularly unique dining experience. Dishes came almost immediately after we were seated with servers that told us unique factoids on the foods we were eating or about their sustainable agricultural practices. Each dish was impressive in that while small, were flavorful and intense. The small plates should not fool you--the sheer amount of plates that came had us full before the second course was done. We were surprised with a invite to the kitchen and were able to watch the chefs work as we ate a few courses inside--they noted my off-hand comment that it was our anniversary! I was so impressed with our host Patrick--he was incredibly affable and knowledgeable. Wine pairing is recommended. Business casual dress was appropriate.

Rather than echo the oft-repeated sentiments about Bue Hill's delectable cuisine, dazzling presentation or fabulous setting (indoors and out), I want to explain what it was, exactly, about our experience that was so different from meals at other fancy restaurants. My friend and I arrived early to wander the farm (no scheduled tour)and stumbled upon one of the beekeepers, who treated us to an impromptu tour of the hives and a lesson on apiculture. He showed us a secret path that led through the farm and back up to the diningroom. This very personal moment led to another, midway through the meal, when we were escorted to the kitchen to watch master chefs at work. An entirely unexpected invitation, it made us feel very special--and so at home.

Mere words cannot describe how special a meal is at this restaurant. Without a menu and armed with your food likes in mind, the kitchen assembles a series of dining courses filled with the flavors and character of the ingredients harvested just outside the front door. The staff is beyond knowledgeable and the presentation is more than creative. You will be talking about your meal for days if not weeks to friends, family and co-workers.

If money is no object than this is the place for you. At a price of about $200 a person this is not for everyone. There is no menu but they do ask is there anything you are allergic to or is there something you will not eat. I feel that even though the courses are small there are too many of them and as a result too much food. During the 3 hour dinner the manager comes to your table and takes you for a walk into the kitchen where there is a table set up for you to have the next course. After finishing that course they take you back to your table for a few more courses.

Words fail. The moment we entered the dining room with its extravagant wisteria vine frame filled with waterfalls of exquisite orchids, our sense of anticipation reached a summit from which it did not descend until the final gentle swallow of the 2000 Pinot Noir (which no force on earth could have kept me from finishing!) This is, simply, a perfect dining experience. I have been so lucky to have consumed high quality food artistry in many settings. Make your reservation and don't wait for a special occasion. Trust me.
