A word from Blue Heron Steakhouse
The Blue Heron Steakhouse is located in the thriving historic Jefferson Street corridor. We offer an excellent menu with steakhouse classics and modern Southern fare with specialties such as fresh oysters, the finest cuts of beef, shrimp and grits and more. Our restaurant started as a hand-crafted cocktail bar and consumer demand made it obvious that we needed to expand to a full-service kitchen. The Blue Heron is situated in a renovated home with exposed brick, a beautiful, locally crafted chandelier, a roaring two-sided fireplace in the colder months and an expansive patio for warmer weather. Locally owned and loaded with character, The Blue Heron is a perfect setting for an intimate date, an evening with friends or simply a casual dinner while watching the game.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Wonderful evening! Fresh salmon from Washington state. Generous portions, great service. Cozy and warm with a fireplace. Nice wine list! "

  • "This was our first time at Blue Herron. We enjoyed it tremendously! I had the filet and several folks in our group got prime rib. One of my new favorite steaks in Lexington!"

  • "Great first time visit! Nice decor, great food. A bit slow but. With Keenland running and prom night, understandable Can't wait to go back"

  • "Great service and great food! The Prime Rib and the Rack of Lamb were superb. Be sure to try one of their signature cocktails."

  • "Had to send a 55 dollar steak back because it was not even close to being cooked to order. So instead of a new steak I think they micro waved it. To many Tvs for fine dining and to expensive for a sports bar."

  • "Diner with my wife on Thursday night was great. The decor of brick, wood and fireplace is wonderful. The food and service was exceptional. Treated super by Jeff the manager and the entire staff. As an added bonus it was raining and we were assisted in finding a close parking spot by Mike. All in all a great experience."

  • "The tenderloin and sirloin were one of best ever! Cocktail very tasty! Our server was courteous, knowledgeable and had impeccable timing. Only disappointment was the oysters. 2.50 per is a little pricey for what appeared to have frozen, watery and very small"

  • "Professionally trained staff care about YOUR experience. Cocktails are overpriced-a turn off. Menu well thought out and food well prepared/presented/priced."

  • "We ordered the 40 oz. steak for two and it was excellent! It was prepared and seasoned perfectly. We had plenty of leftovers to take home. I tried a Tom Collins from the bar and it is now my new favorite drink...it was superb!! I highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to warm weather to try out the patio."

  • "Food & service were very good. Staff gracious and friendly. Fireplace adds a special ambience. Looking forward to summer to try out the deck."

  • "We really enjoyed everything about this restaurant. The reason we didn't give 5 stars is because it seemed as though there was a slight identity problem. Is it a beautiful, romantic jewel with great food and ambience? Or is it a sports bar with great food? We actually appreciated the juxtaposition because we were two women on a business trip so it was more comfortable for our needs, but I wonder how romantic a date can be if 'the game' is on??"

  • "This was our first time eating at the Blue Heron. Wonderful food, we had the fried chicken. It is ABSOLUTLY the best in town ! Yes better than that " other " place in town noted for their fried chicken !!!! Service was wonderful ! We were surprised at the wine list, one of our favorite wines is Duck Horn merlot but normally it is triple in price so we don't usually splurge but at Blue Heron it was about $5 - $10 more than what we can buy it at Liquor Barn so that was a wonderful treat. Will definitely go back soon"

  • "We ate here at 815 on a friday night, with restating and when we got there they had to get our table together. It's a nice place with a cool vibe to it. The food was good but not great. Each dish we ordered, the pork belly, oysters, and fried chicken, had at least one thing great about it but overall was just good. My wife ordered an old fashioned and said they were good while I stuck with a soda. My biggest problem with the place is when you spend over $100 on your meal you don't really want the bar flies milling around your table talking the way most people in bars do, very loud. For the price point I feel that the bat should have been away from the dining area to give diners more privacy. Check out Cole 365 or Malone's for this indication."

  • "The ambience is great the food was amazing. And short my girlfriends dinner section getting replaced with chicken breasts from the half chicken everything was great."

  • "The Blue Heron Steakhouse is amazing! Our dinner was delicious and the service was perfect! The staff was so accomodating, friendly and polite. The ambience in the Blue Heron Steakhouse is set perfectly with the cozy dual sided fireplace, unique chandelier made of Maker's Mark bottles and exposed brick walls. Its definitely the best kept secret on Jefferson Street! After my wife and I finished the impeccable filet and Linguine & Clams, we stayed and enjoyed some of their handcrafted cooktails. These cocktails were delicious! The mixologist prepared the best Bloody Mary I've ever had! We have already booked our next reservation and cant wait to go back!"
