A word from Blue Ginger
Blue Ginger, located in Wellesley, is Ming Tsai's award-winning flagship restaurant. This feng-shui inspired space offers three distinct dining options. There's the informal Lounge serving Asian tapas in a more casual setting. No reservations are required in the Lounge. The main dining room features an open kitchen for you to experience mastery at work. The menu features Ming's signature East-West cuisine, including his famous Miso-Sake Marinated Sablefish and Black Pepper Lobster. And lastly, there are three private dining rooms for larger groups or functions wanting to be enjoyed away from the crowd.

  • "Had a wonderful time for a birthday celebration. Overall good service, excellent entrees (lobster), salad, house made beverages. Desserts (strawberries with marscapone) was so-so but not great for $12, and the key lime cheesecake had good flavor but unpleasant construction. It was a essentially a warm mousse. Our server was very kind about our dislike of it and had it taken off the bill. Overall, a lovely place, very expensive for two if you intend to have full courses."

  • "Our second visit to Blue Ginger and again, Mr Tsai and staff did it right. Last time here I had the fried chicken, but this time I again had a dilemma: pork or lamb or steak. All three sounded delicious and after asking my waiter he sold me on my choice, my wife was sold on the pork I decided to go for the flat iron steak. Delicious does not begin to describe this dish. It awakened taste buds and the spicy and sweet mix was just right. This is not just another steak , it is steak nirvana! And to top it all off I had the strawberry and cream dessert which is not just that, it is a dessert which cools the palate and makes you dream of your next adventure here. Again, kudos to you Mr. Tsai and your staff!"

  • "It's been a long time since we've been to Blue Ginger. We liked it, but never loved it. After giving it another shot, we truly enjoyed the experience. Our appetizer and main dishes were both excellent. We chose the meat dishes instead of the signature ones, but we loved them. Out server was very attentive despite a busy night. We're definitely going back."

  • "From start to finish our meal was delicious. Fried oysters, fluke sashimi, spring rolls, and Caesar salad to start. Lobster, butterfish, pork, and steak for mains. Followed by four desserts: key lime, chocolate cake, strawberries and cream and nut tart. Each bite better than the last!"

  • "I recently dined at the Blue Ginger for a special occasion and had not been there for awhile. While the food was excellent there was something slightly off on that night. The waiters although pleasant seemed tired and inattentive to some degree. I had to ask for more water and was never asked if I wanted a 2nd coffee. It was a Thursday night and it was not very busy. I really hate to spend half of my time trying to get a waiter's attention it put a damper on the night I could never really relax."

We are from California and we visit our daughter and her family here at least two times a year and we always try to make time for a date night for just my wife and me at Blue Ginger. It rivals the best that we enjoy in Southern Orange County, CA, and oh yes, our server Jill was absolutely perfect and a delight to have serving us. She is a great ambassador for the Blue Ginger restaurant and Ming should be very proud and feel fortunate to have Jill on his team! We'll be back, again and again."

  • "This was the perfect place to enjoy a gourmet meal with friends I hadn't seen in a few years. The noise level was perfect so we could actually talk and catch up. The waitress did not rush us. And the food was amazingly executed. I'd been here many times before and it exceeded my expectations - especially the deserts. Being an amateur pastry chef myself, I am quite critical when it comes to desert. We split a creme brulee and a chocolate cake between four- perfect amount after a full meal. We split 3 appetizers as well. Two of us had the butterfish, the house speciality. I had had it before, but again it was even more delicious than I remember."

  • "We couldn't have been more disappointed in our evening at Blue Ginger. The appetizer wok-stirred mussels were tiny and average in taste. The specialty sable fish at $41 disappeared in three bites. The salmon at $30 was tasty but again a very child-sized serving. The lamb rack at $41 would have been fine for an appetizer but certainly not for a main course. I cannot understand the fame this restaurant has amassed. Perhaps the chef is world famous. But to come away hungry for such a big bill is an insane way to spend your money."

My dish a variation of Pho was delicious, my son had a rack of lamb and he liked it. We have been at the restaurant several times, I get the sense the menu is becoming repetitive."

  • "Always top notch, dined on on Poke-eye Tuna and Lobster dish. My companion enjoyed the signature butterfish dish. They just do it right at BG. I'm gluten-free and they have a dedicated GF menu and even provide rice cakes in lieu of bread - very few restaurants do this (legal's seafood is the only other one I know of) so you can have something while your dining companions are enjoying fresh bread. The staff is attentive and very responsive. But really - the food is ridiculously good."

  • "I've been a big fan of Ming Tsai for many years- since the inception of the Food Network!!! My husband and I are visiting family in the are visiting family and couldn't resist the opportunity to sneak away for romantic evening to sample the food at Blue Ginger. We were not disappointed! We ordered 3 entrees to bring some back for my mom, and all 3 were outstanding! The service was good, despite the fact that the place was packed. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys delicious Asian fusion!"

  • "The restaurant was only about 1/3 full yet the service was very slow. The pork was so overdone that it was edible. However, our waitress only checked on us at the beginning of the service and never checked during the meal to see how it was. When she finally showed up, we told her about it. She offered to make another dish but, truthfully, it was too late. And, we would have expected a show of customer service by offering to buy us coffee but none was made. When the manager came over with the check at the end, there was no apology about the overdone pork. The service and food were seriously lacking. And, there were screaming children in the restaurant that no one working there bothered to address. A truly unpleasant experience!"

You can have a much better meal elsewhere for a third less...i took someone there for her birthday and was kind of embaressed how average the food was."

  • "This was our fourth visit to Blue Ginger over the last five years or so. It is a hour away, so we usually save it for a special occasion, or take friends who have not been before. Food is excellent. The menu is not big, but all of the choices are special, and you won't find them elsewhere. Prices are expensive, but if you watch it on wine and drinks you can average about $50 - $60 per person. Service on this occasion was professional for a restaurant of this quality, but not exceptional. Ming was not on site and I think we have only seen him there on one occasion. Still, whoever was running the show did a good job. One of the best restaurants in the Boston area."
