Diner Reviews
  • "We love the BR Guest Restaurants. They are our "go to" restaurants because they are consistently good. We especially enjoy the brunch on the weekend and the price is extremely fair. Blue Fin is perfect for before or after a show or anytime that you want a good meal."

  • "This is one of the few good quality restaurants in the theatre district."

  • "Great dinner in a timely basis before theatre on a Saturday, right in Times Square. BIG restaurant, but service never lacked! Amazing. Food was very good - had Halibut special."

  • "I chose this restaurant based on location and reviewing the menu online. The service was friendly and prompt. The food however was not cooked well or seasoned properly. I did express my opinion when asked and they took items off my bill and gave us a birthday dessert free of charge. The restaurant seemed to be in need of refreshment. It was my son's birthday trip and it was a disappointment"

  • "haven't been Blue Fin in about 9 years. So glad I went back. It was the perfect lunch before a Broadway show. Two very picky eaters in our group but server made several suggestions and the meals were perfect. My new favorite place!"

  • "The Blue Fin has great food, highly recommend the sushi and location ROCKS."

  • "My friend and I decided to check this out during restaurant week in NYC. We weren't even offered the restaurant week menu and had to ask. Kinda tricky because they want you to order from the regular and more expensive menu. We got a bunch of sushi and grilled octopus to share, as well as some oysters. All were good, but not worth the price. Overall, we had fun."

  • "Love this restaurant!! Every trip to New York we dine here."

  • "Had a 7:45pm reservation had to wait 25 minutes for our table. It was a business dinner so it was not good having my guest of 7 wait. Then the entree took 25 minutes longer to come out. Ambience was good and food was ok but the service needs to get better."
    Dined on 7/24/2014
  • "Food and ambience are awesome but the service is the problem. I had been waiting for my main course more than 35 mins after my appetizer. When I used my credit card to pay, the waitress didn't bring a pen with the receipt. How could I sign it. She has no common sense."

  • "Took advantage of restaurant week and had a great meal for the price. I would go back outside of restaurant week. Service was great."

  • "Very impressive when you first walk in. Double height ceilings, with ocean waves decorating the walls along a sweeping staircase. The food was overpriced but tasty and the cocktails were good. Although the service was excellent, my sense of the restaurant was that they needed to get you in and out quickly. Therefore it was not a relaxing experience."

  • "Service: orders taken promptly once whole party ha arrived, appetizers served promptly, but there was a long delay before entrees were served. Coffee and dessert were served soon after entrees were cleared but we were still somewhat rushed to get to the theater. Food: Appetizers were excellent. One non-Restaurant week entree was excellent, two of us had the Restaurant Week salmon, which was very good; one had the restaurant week trout which the waiter had said he didn't like and the member of our party who had it didn't like it either."

  • "Hadn't been to Blue Fin in quite a while, and we were both pleasantly surprised to find that the quality level was as fine as ever. Everything on the menu looked appealing, everything we ordered was delicious."

  • "Always good as far as the food and service go, but too noisy."

  • "Pleasant surprise for lunch before a show. BLT Crab cake sandwich so flavorful, and dessert, homemade sorbets just completed our feast. Will be back again"

  • "Our favorite place for lunch when in the city for a broadway show. We lucked out with a prix fixe luncheon menu,..perhaps because of restaurant week. Starters were grilled peach salad with Stilton and endive and a salmon and grilled pineapple maki roll..theirs are so inventive. Both chose the soft shell crab sandwich which was excellent..deep fried crispy as we prefer. Dessert was included.. Vanilla panna cotta and a trio of sorbets. Too much food to then sit in a show but everything was wonderful."

  • "We had a very good dinner after theater at Blue Fin. We both had oysters for a first course, 3 east and 3 west. And we both had the sesame crusted tuna. Delicious!"

  • "We were sitting close to the door right by a column made out of dark wood and that column was sooooooo dusty...the food was fine."

  • "A breath of fresh air in the heart of Times Square. Fantastic for small to mid-size group, very kid (and teen) friendly. Other than the sushi selection, food was mediocre at best. But than you don't go to Times Square for the food! Allow yourself at least an hour to dine here before catching a show, and ask for a table at the mezzanine level if possible."

  • "Those were worth it, and we also dined for restaurant week."

  • "If you want a business casual dining experience, Blue Fin is for you! The decor is modern and tasteful, food presentation is beautiful and the staff is personable. I ordered a curried chicken salad and it was so delicious, I had no room for dessert. The only downside was that my glass smelled funny, as if it wasn't washed properly and my friend's fork was literally crooked. I'm pretty keen on clean utensils so it disturbed me. But other than that I had a good time."

  • "We were seated promptly, but given two different menus. I looked at my husband's and realized it was the brunch menu, not the lunch menu. It took me several minutes to flag someone down to get us a new menu for my husband. The maitre de walked past me several times, completely ignoring me. Finally, our waiter appeared and got a new menu for my husband. Only then did I realize they had given me the dinner menu, not the lunch menu, so mine had to be changed out as well. We ordered an appetizer and entrees. The appetizer came out promptly and was quite good. However, there was a lag of at least 20 minutes between when we finished the app and entrees (sandwiches) appeared. The waiter joked about how long it was taking."

  • "First time it was excellent. Had the trout and the starter bread and overall setting upstairs were great. Decided to go again for my anniversary. Requested seating upstairs and wrote a notation about the reason for going. Follow-up call from the restaurant at 10am the day of confirming everything and the anniversary msg on the dessert. Arrived at dinner and it was ok but disappointed the bread was bland and borderline at room temperature. Main entrees were excellent the char salmon and the halibut. The msg on the dessert was incorrect. Instead of saying happy 6 yr anniversary it said happy 6 yr birthday. Honest mistake but the waiter should have mentioned it and say sorry. So it was awkward taking pics for our special day w/incorrect msg."

  • "My wife and I dined at Blue Fin prior to seeing a show nearby. Following the friendly greeting from the hostess, our main server (Diane S.) was extremely helpful with menu recommendations and guiding us about the portion sizes. We started with sushi rolls which were fresh and tasty. The small plates we decided to share were all delicious - including a surprise complimentary selection from the manager. Too full for dessert, our server capped off the meal with free champagne to prepare us for the theatre. Great service and great food... made for a great evening in NYC!"

  • "We went to this restaurant because it was part of the BR Guest program .. we had received this as a gift from a friend. BR Guest limited the places we could eat in NYC. Went here after seeing a Broadway play, and we were not disappointed... They took our reservation and we sat immediately without waiting.. the service was VERY good (our waitress couldn't do enough for us, plus the food was served quickly) , and the food was delicious. A little on the pricey side, but the quality of everything made it worth it. However, we found the room to be very noisy, if you have a trouble hearing with large crowds around you, you may want to reconsider... but overall, a very pleasant experience."

  • "I was very impressed with the decor and ambiance of Blue Fin. It was our first time there so it was hard deciding what to eat because everything on the menu looked good. Our server was very helpful with the choices and right on point with the ingredients in each dish. The food was delicious!!! I highly recommend."

  • "Even though it's on a busy corner of Times Square, we found it easy to get in and service was prompt. The food was tremendous and the cocktails yummy. We enjoyed the in season raw oysters (we chose the ones from PEI just because we're Canadian haha) but ended up trying both from the east and west coast, and both were fresh and delicious. Overall, we'll be back."

  • "Girls night in NY, had a tremendous experience! Loved everything we ate, our server Brent was exceptional and truly made our night! Our table was in a very dark spot and would be the only thing that was not an "A""

  • "We had a great pre-theater dinner. Super convenient location - but the food was even better. We have been before, but this is the first time we ordered Sushi in addition to fish - everything was great."
    Dined on 7/12/2014
  • "We ate at this restaurant pre-theatre. Nice atmosphere. Upstairs much nicer than downstairs. My wife loved her Salmon. I had the Bronzino and it was a bit dry. Better seafood at other restaurants, but may not in the Theatre district."

  • "Never disappointed, excellent food and service! Back area upstairs best for a more intimate setting."

  • "Great seafood--fresh, creative recipes and presentations, as well as terrific grilled entrees--all in the heart of the theatre district."

  • "I have always been happy at the Blue Fin but they changed the menu since the last time so that we had fewer choices, plus they eliminated some of the dishes we have particularly enjoyed in the past. The dishes we had this time were good but not exceptional, although the corn chowder was a great starter. Service was very, very good. I may go back given that it is convenient to the Broadway theaters, but I am not as enthusiastic as I have been in the past"

  • "This is the perfect pre or post theater place for dinner. Excellent consistent food with service that understands that people are trying to make a show on time. They are efficient with service but not rushing you through your dinner. Excellent fish and sushi but there are other choices on the menu. Enjoy this fun NYC spot!"

  • "Overpriced mediocre food and drinks. Only pro is that it was a short walk from our hotel at Times Square."
