Excellent service and venue. The kitchen was a little slow to process our order so our server brought us their delightful cinnamon sticky buns on the house to tie us over. An all around enjoyable brunch experience if you're looking for something a little different than your standard eggs and bacon, but not too out there for those who enjoy a simply brunch with a twist.

I've dined at Blue Duck Tavern many times, and aside from the wonderful food I have been equally impressed with the professionalism of the wait staff. Our waiter was nice enough; but after taking our orders and saying he would bring us some bread, he failed to do so. We got through our first course without bread, and my colleague had to ask him for it. He didn't come back to ask how our entrees were, and when he finally returned it was with our check--never asking if we wanted dessert. We would normally have dessert, but at that point the meal had taken too long and we were so disappointed that we just paid the check. We felt bad leaving only a 15% tip, but he barely earned that.

Our recent trip to Washington provided us an abundance of beautiful restaurants. We were fortunate to have had the Blue Duck Tavern recommended to us after a beautiful dinner at 1789. From the beginning with the open concept kitchen our senses were heighten with the aromas and sights so close at hand. The bone marrow entree is very different from anything I have ever tried - but it is delicious. Make sure to share as it is very rich and you want to have room for your entree. The suckling pig entree and braised beed were succulent and delicious. Service was impeccable and very friendly. Love this restaurant!

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at the tavern this past Sunday. They were very attentive and provided an exceptional eating experience. When they highlight their signature dishes, pay close attention to these items you will not be disappointed. This'd includes the bone marrow app, braised ribs, suckling pig, and Apple pie. I was very much looking forward to this place as it is one of the best in DC. I am happy to say it did not disappoint! Wonderful menu with some very unique dish offerings. I tried the suckling pig, and it was delicious. Others at the table enjoyed the salads, bison steak, and wagyu beef. The desserts were nothing outstanding (we tried the profiterole and the plum crisp) and I certainly have had better, but they by no means deterred from our overall experience. Will definitely be going back!

I brought my family here to celebrate an important milestone and we were treated to a wonderful evening. Although we arrived quite early (by several minutes), we were made to feel welcome at once. Our party of five was quickly seated in a beautiful dining space among the wine cellar and just off the kitchen. Every single dish was exquisite. The pumpkin soup was flawless, scallop carpaccio beautiful contrast in textures, and sweetbreads divine. Wagyu Beef, fresh Grouper, Suckling Pig with cracklins - perfection. Service was impeccable, the right of attention without hovering. The two gentlemen that took care of us were friendly, knowledgeable and did a great job of shepherding us through the evening. We look forward to our next visit.

The menu descriptions do not accurately or adequately describe what is actually served. I think the best example of this is the "shrimp & grits" brunch entree that I ordered. It was three large shrimp served on a yellow polenta cake. The last time I checked, a polenta cake is not grits, and anyway, grits are usually white (not yellow). The menu did not provide any sort of clue that the "grits" would be a polenta cake. The food was just ok for the price, at best. There was no "wow" factor for me at this restaurant. I probably won't go back to this place again.

I travel throughout the U.S. entertaining clients and my sales associates, so I'm accustomed to high-end eateries. Blue Duck has become my favorite due to the ambiance, impeccable service, and creative, farm-to-table menu. Took my wife this last trip and she was as impressed as I have been. Our highlights of the meal were the Pumpkin Soup with crispy basil leaf, and the lemon brined chicken. Strongly reccomended for a special occasion (the couple best to us were also celebrating an anniversary) or a special venue to impress employees or clients.

The restaurant seemed to have a lot of great reviews online so we made a reservation for our anniversary. The ambiance is nice. The service was excellent. However, the food was another story. The first course we ordered, a soup served in a tea kettle, was served cold. The server quickly rectified the situation once we brought it to his attention. For my entrée, I had the duck. It was alright, but nothing special. The fries were suggested to us as a side. Actually, they were suggested to almost every table since I guess the restaurant is know for this. However, even though they are steak cut and fried in duck fat and good, they are still just fries. The whole experience was a bit of a let down, especially for the price.

Did not go to the restaurant looking to be impressed but just get a good meal for a relatively moderate price....service was good but a little to attentive a friend had buttered a piece of bread and set it down on his plate next thing you know it is gone...Ordered a bottle Cab Franc from wine list wasn't available but was offered a French Syrah not very good at all.

The food is well and thoughtfully prepared, but it's kind of an aspirational meat and potatoes menu, which simply didn't appeal. I enjoyed the wine and cheese selections, but neither of those alone are reason to visit the restaurant. Wait staff were pleasant, hostess staff seemed ungracious and had difficulty locating my Open Table reservation. Restaurant is a little dark and a lot loud, feels like a place people go for group celebrations or corporate meals. The decor is overrated - it's a basic restaurant layout with too many hard surfaces, and a few rocking chairs. Felt like a reasonably good design only partially executed. Overall, it's a good hotel restaurant but seems pretty overhyped.

The food at the Blue Duck Tavern is absolutely wonderful. It's probably some of the best food I've ever had in DC. But what really makes it the place to go is the service. Our server, handled everything professionally and elegantly. Our needs were met and he didn't intrude into our conversation. His attention to detail was perfect. I wish I knew his name, so I could request him EVERY TIME, heck, at EVERY RESTAURANT. He was perfect.

From start to finish, amazing. Service is perfect, friendly and never bother you or push you to order. They suggest and explain in detail any questions you may have. Another note, they bring the bottle of wine you ordered (by the glass) so you know you are getting what you actually requested. Their patio is great and ready with propane heaters to make the experience that much better. In a nutshell, a great desta uranium and the service is impeccable.

I love Blue Duck Tavern. It's my favorite restaurant in DC hands down. Their food is always delicious and perfectly balanced. I am continually surprised by how good their food is because when I read it on the menu I don't get especially excited; having eaten many many times I no longer question. It's always really good. I'll continue to go back. I don't know what I would do for special occasions or just a great meal if it were no longer around. I do feel our service this time around was below average, which is not the norm. Our server was slow, not very pleasant and seemed indifferent to us at best. He eventually swapped with someone else right at the very end of the meal and the service instantly improved.

My husband and two grown up children ate here on our last night in Washington, and were very impressed. By far the best place we have eaten at in the USA for a long time. The staff were friendly, but professional and very helpful. The duck main course was gorgeous and perfectly cooked. My son had the bouillabaisse, and that was really good. The sommelier recommended a Pinot Noir from Oregon, which was excellent. I would definitely recommend and return to the Blue Duck Tavern.

We have been many times to Blue Duck Tavern and looked forward to it for a treat. This last time we went with out of town guests we were very disappointed. It was early on a thursday night, very loud, the service was inattentive, and our waiter was misleading regarding our questions about the menu. The food was only fair. Sadly we are taking it off our list of restaurants we like to go to.
