The restaurant has an elegant residential feel through the open staff pantry and kitchen, wood-burning oven and the showpiece Molteni range.

It's a great spot for outdoor dining in the evening. The special watermelon, beet, ricotta salad was amazing -- perfect starter for a warm summer evening! Great California wine choices. The duck was properly cooked and flavorful, but would have preferred a little more flavor in the farro side dish. Service was quite attentive throughout the meal.

It was our 51st wedding anniversary! I wanted somewhere special but not too over the top. We had been to Blue Duck for pre theater dinner, but it was always rushed. This was a long leisurely dinner and was superb! I got a scallop appetizer which is not to be missed - a ceviche and thin smoked slices of scallop with micro greens and superb vinaigrette. My husband had a lettuce wedge which was made with a leaf lettuce - he loved it. My duck breast was super and his bison steak exceptional. Food is served with attention to flavor - and a bit of whimsy. YUMM. And if you like good wines, Blue Duck will not disappoint. Broad selection at (relatively) reasonable prices. We look forward to a return visit.

We had a wonderful meal at Blue Duck Tavern. Had the bison and the duck with plum sauce. they were really good. The fries were wonderful as was the apple pie for two. Service was wodnerful. They were always available and any request was completed immediately. The only food miscue was the tuna poached with olive oil. It had a weird texture and it made the tuna overcooked.

We had reservations for brunch and were very disappointed with the menu selection, food, and the service. I have never had such a bad meal at a Hyatt restaurant. Service was extremely slow. We had to ask for bread. We waited over 30 minutes for our food and beverages were also slow to arrive. The waitress did not seem to know all the menu items and was confused when we asked questions. One problem is that the menu selection was too eclectic. For example, the burger item came on one piece of bread in open face fashion, but the menu did not say that's how it was being served. Who pays $24 for an open faced burger you cannot pick up to eat? We will not be returning to this place.

My husband and I have a tradition of celebrating our wedding anniversary at Blue Duck. We had our wedding party at the Park Hyatt, and celebrated our first two anniversaries at Melrose. So once Blue Duck opened, we adapted our tradition. The food is wonderful. My frittata was delicious, as were my husband's fried chicken livers. We loved the root beer ice cream - the perfect way to end a meal. The service at Blue Duck is always lovely. Andre - our server - was friendly and helpful without being overbearing or obsequious. LOVE Blue Duck Tavern!

I had been looking forward to having breakfast at the Blue Duck Tavern and took some friends who were visiting from out of town there, but we were all underwhelmed. The service was extremely slow, and the servers continuously forgot very basic things like milk for coffee, salt and pepper for eggs, butter for toast, etc. The food was all right but nothing memorable, and the atmosphere seemed to offer nothing special. The restaurant seemed to be just disinterested in their clients.

Had reservations for 8:45 and when we arrived the table was not ready for almost half an hour. Got an apology but nothing else. They had the reservation just did not reserve a table. Actually was taking an important client out so it was unfortunate.Ate here about a year ago and it was fabulous and could not wait to go back. Got wedge salad and it was not that great. Guest got the pork chop and it was average. I got the halibut special and it was very good but overall dining experience was average. Will probably not go back.

The food was flawless, which makes it all the more disappointing to have the night spoiled by slow service. We could forgive the 25 minute wait (past reservation time) to be seated, most of which was spent waiting for drinks at the bar that should have arrived within 10. And dinner started out fine, but then the wheels came off. Nearly 50 minutes between salad and entree, then another full hour between ordering desert and getting the check. Lastly, the valet parking was a mess: nobody there to assist us, and the hotel valet charged us an unannounced fee that the guy could have just pocketed for all we know. Maybe they just had a bad night, but hey, if you want to be considered the best of the best, you can't have bad nights.

Waiter was not extremely helpful - would have been nice to have him explain the menu in more detail as first time diners (didn't realize my meal did not come with a side and had to be ordered separately - was still hungry). Nice outdoor patio seating that provided a quieter setting conducive to conversation.

Always a good meal with a terrificly-sourced menu. Away a couple of years in Chicago (best retauarant scene in the US), so Blue Duck seemed "almost" as good as in my memory. Hostesses and servers seemed harried for a moderately busy Monday. Tomato salad disappointing in the peak of tomato season; but all other apps and mains were excellent. Much-anticipated apple pie looked wonderful...but waaaaay too much sugar and cinnamon: completely overwhelmed any hint of apple (also near peak season) and ended the meal on a bit of a down-beat. Overall, likely to remain in our top-ten for DC, but felt like it slipped a few notches...

I had an absolutely amazing dinner at the Blue Duck Tavern! The service was impeccable, the decor was nice as well, but the food is what made it so great. I have tried the following and loved them all: Heirloom Tomato Panzanella Salad Red Onion, Olive Oil Crouton, Basil Goat Ricotta 12-Hour Roasted Suckling Pig, Baby Vegetables, Pork Jus Roasted Muscovy Duck Breast Compressed Plum Seasonal Selection of Sorbet My dinner companion also had the below items and swears by it: Fried Sweet Bread Appetizer Lime Tofu Yogurt Custard Pickled Melons, Green Grapes, Cucumber-Mint Gel Ginger-Ka"r Whipped Ganache, Quinoa Granola

In our experience, the service, ambience and space were fabulous. We had a semi-private space for a group of 7. Because of kitchen delays, our server brought us a salad dish to hold us over. Unfortunately it was too salty. The vegetarian farro entree was excellent, but some of the meat entrees were again too salty.

Service is impeccable and outstanding. The breakfast menu has new twists on old favorites (pastrami smoked salmon, grits with smoked gouda) and as well as several unusual and delectable new creations (breakfast biscuit sandwich with lamb sausage, chicken liver mouse and fried eggs). We couldn't stop trying just one more item from the menu. Their coffee alone is worth the trip. The restaurant has a functional and diverse herb garden just outside; while there we say one of the sous chefs cutting herbs for use that day. We live nearby and will definitely be back for brunch, lunch, or dinner - likely all of the above.

I love this restaurant and have been several times with the same friend. We haven't been there in a year or so. We have such high expectations given all of our other experiences. It was my friend's 50th so we were really excited to go on a Saturday. Unfortunately, the food was fine - 3 of our 4 dishes (he loved the crab cakes). When the food is only fine... and we both independently felt that way...the small portions and high prices become even more noticeable when the food doesn't live up to amazing. The folks are always so nice, but they were quickly taking our plates away as soon as we were done so we felt rushed this time.

I have been to Blue Duck Tavern about 4 times now, and LOVED every other time. But, Friday night was just meh and okay. Along with drinks we had appetizers of Olive Oil Poached Tuna (tasted a bit fishy), and the Hand-Cut Wagyu Beef Tartare (very good). Then for entrees: Wood Oven-Fired Wagyu Beef (good, but nothing special), 12-Hour Roasted Suckling Pig (dry - this was mine, so I was quite disappointed), Roasted Sea Bass (fishy again), Bouillabaisse - Scallops Prawns Mussels & Fennel (def the best dish at the table), Special which was bison (more flavorful than the beef). Sides were grits (ABSOLUTELY AMAZING) and Fried green tomatoes (good) Dessert was probably the best part, of a profiterole with rhubarb and other berries.

The service was superb and the food was AMAZING (the kind of amazing your long for and rarely have) Suggestions for your dining pleasure: Pomegranite Foam (mildly fruity, scented and tasty cocktail), Bone Marrow for starters (WOW), Anything in the Red Meat category or the Crab Cakes are going to be a big hit, and the apple pie and Guiness ice cream/bar food surprise (were the Best desserts). Pricey. So make it a special occasion. You won't be sorry; you'll be planning on going back for more.

One of our twin sons lives near the Blueduck so, from what he had heard, he figured it was a great place to have his parents take him and his brother for their 20th birthday. We were not disappointed. The food was exquisite, and the service was very attentive and personal. We had a quiet table, which was good because we could have quality time with the family, yet disappointing because we could see that there was great people-watching out on the terrace!

We ate at the Blue Duck Tavern recently for our anniversary and it was definitely a special expereince. The food was outstanding and it was quite a fancy restuarant overall. One downside was the slow service. It look them a while to put in our food order, and then took them a while to bring our entrees out. I will forgive them for taking a while to make the food, however, becuase it was delicious and worth the wait! Another thing was the waiter got confused and brought out a wrong, more expensive bottle of wine with a similar name. Anyone with a knowlege of French wine knows the difference between fume and fuisse, so this was a bit odd. Otherwise it was an extraordinary evening.
