Blue Dragon RestaurantFabulous dinner & entertainment tooWe had a lovely dinner on Mother's Day and got to dance to a great jazz group as well. This is our new favorite spot on the Big Island and one that I am sure we will return to again and again! Don't change a thing!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food, music and serviceIncredibly accommodating staff add another level to one our best island dining experiences, best steaks and seafood so far! The fresh and hand crafted feel to every item we ordered left us talking about dinner for days, a definite repeat performance on our list.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed a well preparedWe enjoyed a well prepared fish dinner in a comfortable environment. We thought the slack key guitar added to the ambiance of the evening.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways VisitWe always visit Blue Dragon at least once every trip to the Big Island. The food is good but we also really enjoy the entertainment of the evening. This particular evening, the guest entertainer was John Keawe, and he was great.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesomeExcellent food, beets from their garden, local goat cheese, opakapaka mediterranean style so fresh, lamb so tasty. The speciality cocktails were amazing, try their dragon cocktails, the dragon snap was great and their margarita the best ever with a cherry purée. 12 piece band the night we were there, so great.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat night at the Blue DragonFabulous food, great drinks, wonderful band led to a great night out eating under the stars with our family at the Blue Dragon. A must for any visitor to the Big Island!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMA Rave about the SpecialsOn this night, Noah Hester, Head Chef, outdid himself with a special appetizer -- a tempura deep-fried poached egg on top of thick sliced bacon and diced potatoes (a mix of purple, white, and sweet) with a drizzle of lavendar sauce. Accompagnied with a salad, it became my main course. And so outstanding, I could have eaten much, much more, but really the portion was perfect. My husband ordered off the standard menu -- a pasta dish with shrimp (perfectly seasoned with huge shrimp). The music stayed pretty mellow as Ol' School was playing. Mellow is not what we like to dance to. So we sat back, enjoyed our meal and the wonderful service, and mostly watched the floor show (the ballroom dancers who like the slower rhythms).5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was our 1st time there. It was our 1st time there. We are so very thankful that this place has been created; there is not a better dance and dining venue on the island. Staff on all levels are GREAT, and the general vibrations/energy are as good as it gets.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was great to sit underIt was great to sit under the stars and listen to John Kekua play slack-key guitar while his wife danced the hula. A very peaceful, authentic place!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMLove Blue DragonWe love the Blue Dragon. One of our favorite slack key guitarists, John Keawe, was playing the night we went. It was a magical evening under the stars. Great food, great drinks and music. Wait staff is extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and not intrusive. I went for the live Tango Music which was excellent but I enjoyed everything about this restaurant. Location is easy, parking no problem and all staff is friendly but not overbearing.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMA Music Lover's Highlight!Love the live music outdoors and excellent food! A definite highlight of our trip to the Big Island.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAloha, Kama'aina who lovesAloha, Kama'aina who loves the variety of music and appreciates the effort put forth.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMCozy Up for a Night Under the StarsThe Blue Dragon is a great place to cozy up with an evening of aloha. Music permeates this open air space and on a clear night, I love to enjoy the tunes while gazing up at a million stars! The menu's eclectic with cuisine from the sea to the ranch; I chose my favorite, the "Blue Dragon Burger" and my spouse enjoyed "Lamb Lolli Chops." Our friends ordered a variety of seafood samplers. I've found the service to be consistently superior even as the wait staff are challenged to navigate an energetic venue bustling with live music, dancing, people mulling and a tempting desert menu. If you're looking for a playful evening where you can unwind, enjoy a little pampering and rock to island-style entertainment, I recommend the Blue Dragon!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMBeats the stuffy hotel restaurants! This was our first time here. Very fun place with live music, super friendly staff and good food. Fresh island grown food. Great alternative to stuffy hotel restaurants!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMFavoriteLoved our table, the live music, the ambiance, and our waiter Greg. They use local organic ingredients, and we had the fresh grilled catch of the day, a fish I had never tried before called Majong (not sure of the spelling). It was our favorite restaurant we tried while in Hawaii.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
