  • "We both had appys Andy had a beer and a scotch I had the crab and he had the fish bowl and we had 1 dessert. The bill was $135 and we tipped $23The food was good but not great. My tempura prawns were more like deep fried and the oil tasted old. The crab was fine and so was the dessert so our dining experience was fine but not great, which I expect from a place like the Blue Crab."

It took a while to get my dinner, but w/ jumbled service, eating out of order, it just wasn't pleasant. We won't come back, and it was so highly recommended by a friend!"

  • "We arrived late to Victoria. It's August so hard to get a dinner reservation. We were delighted the Blue Crab was in our hotel and easy to get a reservation. I wasn't too hungry but hesitated to order crab cakes as most places put in too much filler. The waitress assured me I would love theirs and she was right. The crab cake appetizer was the perfect light dinner. Their continental breakfast buffet is great too and well priced."

  • "We ordered the King crab and when it was delivered, the shells were so soft that we couldn't really even break in for the meat. It was like a noodle almost. We brought this up to the waiter and he said..."that happens" and never checked on us again. Terrible food, rude waiter, highly recommend you look elsewhere to eat."

We selected the Blue Crab Seafood House as our destination to celebrate both on that night. Service was excellent and so was the food. We appreciated the free entrée as it was a practice of the restaurant to do if it was your birthday month. Quite generous of them to do this and much appreciated!!!"

  • "I had the scallops and bacon to start which were very good. The scallops were seared and perfectly cooked, and the bacon was thick and salty. We both had the all crab main which consisted of snow, king and dungeness. All were coked to perfection and tasted wonderful. We'd highly recommend the blue crab to anyone with a hankering for seafood. I have seen some reviews that say it is expensive, but we thought it was very reasonable for what you got."

  • "I recently planned a surprise engagement here at the Blue Crab and I was BLOWN AWAY at the atmosphere and the cooperation of the staff with my plans. Everyone went out of their way to help me, and the food was amazing! They even comp'd us a bottle of champagne on behalf of our special night! You won't find that many places anymore... Blue Crab is an amazing place and DEFINITELY well worth the visit!"

  • "We were seated promptly and had a lovely window table for four. Our guest who were on vacation was thrilled with our choice of this restaurant. When we were seated a portable chalk board stand was presented at our table with the daily specials written in a very easy manner to understand. We thought this was brilliant as we tend to forget the specials if they were spoken to us. I do anyways. Our meals came at a timely matter and beautifully plated. We all had the same meal.. Crab to crab and surf and turf. Meal was cooked to perfection. The crab was fun to crack open. A little messy. Suggestions of kitchen scissors would be easier to open up the crab legs.. Or have the chef cut along the edges.. Overall an excellent experience."

  • "The main course was alright but far too over priced for what it was. The soups were sub-par especially considering they took 45 minutes to come out. Mine was under salted and lacked flavor for a chowder and contained under cooked potatoes. My wifes soup flavourful, but was thin and lacked any substance for a bisque. Our waiter was also fairly inattentive and could have done a better job in explaining why our food was taking so long. The one saving grace was the hostess. We did arrive a but earlier than our reservations and she was still able to seat us. She also noticed that we did not look completely happy and came over at the end of the meal to try and rectify things."

  • "We at here based on Yelp reviews while on a visit to Victoria and wanting seafood. The location is nice for viewing the bay but the hotel and restaurant are not spectacular by any means. My salad before my dinner was very nice but there didn't appear to be salad dressing options. My husband's seafood dinner was not bad but for the price, not off-the-charts great. I had soup as I wasn't extremely hungry and it was decent but nothing overly memorable. This is not a place we have on the short list of places to return to. "

  • "We enjoyed a lovely, leisurely dinner at the Blue Crab while on a short vacation to Victoria. It was recommended by the concierge at our hotel and did not disappoint. The artful presentation of the appetizer, main course and dessert was a feast for the eyes, and the flavours were amazing - rich and layered. The service was wonderful and we were treated royally by all the servers. All of the staff who stopped by our table, whether to top up water glasses, pour more wine, or take orders/serve conversed with humour and intelligence, and yet also gave us time to enjoy the harbor view and the food without hovering. Heartily recommend the Blue Crab!"

  • "After writing a glowing review last week I returned with 3 friends and had the bouillabaisse special on Saturday. Unfortunately the shrimp on top burst as I pulled the head off and sprayed my white sweater. My friends had a good laugh but fortunately our kind waiter completed the dissection for me. Our chicken order was overcooked a tad, and the short ribs were a bit tough ( as compared to other locations recently where the beef melted in your mouth). The setting and the friendly service helped to mask some of the foodie issues. I would still recommend the venue as a good dining experience ."

  • "I asked our server about the salmon salad special, because I only want salmon that's wild and fresh. He told us that he had it for lunch and thought it was delicious. Right on! As requested, it was cooked rare and this Coho was the best grilled salmon I can remember eating. The salad was fresh gourmet mixed greens with balsamic dressing on the side - perfection. As the Coho in the stores is still "previously frozen", I'm going back to the Blue Crab this weekend with friends. "

  • "We were looking for good seafood and this was it! The crab was amazing and the clam chowder was also delicious and delicately flavoured. Our table wasn't right on the window but as a last minute reservation it still afforded a lovely view of the harbour. The Blue Crab Caesar was wonderful with the hot prawn garnish and the Blue Crab coffee for dessert was stellar. The cheesecake as a dessert was adequate and my only other item to note is it would have been nice to have been offered a finger bowl or moist towel when we had finished out crab."

  • "My mom and I picked up my daughter at UVIc, so we celebrated Easter here for brunch. The buffet, though expensive (at over $30 a person, not including coffee) was really good. Lots of variety and tasty offerings, like two types of Eggs Benny - seafood, hot and cold plates…It's good if you like to check out the ocean and enjoy a great view, but it's very much a 'hotel' restaurant, not much in terms of ambiance inside - dated and boring. The food made up for it. The only thing I was disappointed with is Coffee, orange juice - or better yet Champagne and Orange juice should be included, like most places do - I've had better brunches at other hotels for $23 a person and they had omelette stations! Bill for three was $135 tip in, coffee only!"

  • "Seafood applies and entrees were very good. Disappointed by dessert - vanilla bean creme brûlée with no hint of vanilla bean - or vanilla for that matter. Very bland. It's my favourite dessert and I didn't bother to finish it. Signature cocktails were very good and service was great. Halibut was delicious and tempura prawns very good. Crab cakes were a little bland."

  • "My wife and I had a very nice meal and experience here. We were seated in a prime window spot with beautiful views of the harbor. We both had the restaurants 3 course special (which is offered for a limited time). The appetizers were great (I had the raw oysters, my wife the clams and mussels). For our main course my wife had the prawn and scallops and it was top notch. I had the 'all crab all the time' which consists of 1 piece of king crab, one snow crab cluster, and crab risotto. It was very good. I would have liked to have seen a larger selection of fresh fish... the only choices were salmon and halibut. Overall, nice dining experience."

We visit Victoria often, as our son and his wife live in Victoria (and work at neighbouring harbour hotels, by the way!) .   • "We took our young son and niece here for dinner while visiting Victoria. For the most part the food was good, (except my steak which was extremely salty.). However, the service was terrible! When ordering a full lobster I am fairly certain a finger bowl should come standard but my husband did not get one. We were seated for ages before being able to give even our drink order and my appy, (Cesar Salad,) took over 30 min! The kids wanted pop refills as the glasses were 70% ice and even though I put the glasses to the side of the table where the waiter was! he walked by 4 times before I got his attention for a refill. If you can wait an hour for the salad it's one of the best I've tasted though...."
