  • "My wife and I had a very nice meal and experience here. We were seated in a prime window spot with beautiful views of the harbor. We both had the restaurants 3 course special (which is offered for a limited time). The appetizers were great (I had the raw oysters, my wife the clams and mussels). For our main course my wife had the prawn and scallops and it was top notch. I had the 'all crab all the time' which consists of 1 piece of king crab, one snow crab cluster, and crab risotto. It was very good. I would have liked to have seen a larger selection of fresh fish... the only choices were salmon and halibut. Overall, nice dining experience."

We visit Victoria often, as our son and his wife live in Victoria (and work at neighbouring harbour hotels, by the way!) . The Blue Crab is a must if you want a fine dining seafood experience in this city."

I never have dessert at a restaurant but could not resist and was glad I didn't. Crab cakes should be the signature dish here (maybe they are) - Outstanding! Our server was friendly, helpful and very attentive. Loved the experience."

  • "We took our young son and niece here for dinner while visiting Victoria. For the most part the food was good, (except my steak which was extremely salty.). However, the service was terrible! When ordering a full lobster I am fairly certain a finger bowl should come standard but my husband did not get one. We were seated for ages before being able to give even our drink order and my appy, (Cesar Salad,) took over 30 min! The kids wanted pop refills as the glasses were 70% ice and even though I put the glasses to the side of the table where the waiter was! he walked by 4 times before I got his attention for a refill. If you can wait an hour for the salad it's one of the best I've tasted though...."

We made a reservation which meant we were seating directly at the window...overlooking the docks and outer harbour, it was fantastic. All of the staff were very easy going, but professional...perfect for the ambience and the type of restaurant!! Great job!! I have not stopped raving about the food, we left full!!! We had the Feast for $35, and the All Crab, All the Time and what a great idea and a way of being introduced to a new restaurant. We will definitely be back again.   • "Holidaying in Victoria we found the Dine Around Victoria promotion online offering 3 course set menus for $30/$40/$50. The Blue Crab looked best. While they kept us waiting for a bit in the lounge, couldn't argue with either the view, the service, or that they were setting a window table for us that really did have a fab view. Felt I didn't need 3 courses, so just had the Dungeness Crab. My husband had the $50 choice, which included crab cakes and a huge plate of King Crab. Both came with veg and risotto. While it looked nice, I question putting the risotto underneath the crab. Mine ended up with little chunks of shell from cracking open my crab, so I couldn't eat much of it. Otherwise a great meal, esp Croissant Bread Pudding for dessert!"

  • "We were disapponted with the food as we had been to the Blue Crab before and had enjoyed the food! This was a Dinearound special for $30 and it didn't seem such a good deal. The salad was OK, the beef was fatty and slopped on mashed potatoes and the creme brulee was not outstanding. The wine was expensive. The service was friendly but very slow even though it was not that busy. Of course, we loved the view."

However, the whole experience was somewhat diminished by the bland setting. No table linens, no flowers on the table, no art on the walls. Service was not very attentive. So overall, I give it a good for the quality of the food, but the rest, meh."

  • "We went for the special feast for two and were not disappointed. The mussel and clam starter was cooked just right and perfectly seasoned. The warm rosemary bread basket was quickly used up to soak up the amazing broth. After catching our breath, the main plate was brought: a pair of tender prawns and scallops cooked as they should be and almost melted in our mouths. We opted for King instead of dungeness crab and it was also cooked to perfection. The absolute gem on the plate was the filet. cooked as requested, perfectly charred on the outside and served with the best reduction I've ever had. An absolute gem of a restaurant with great service, food and prices as well as a spectacular view over the water. A must see in Victoria."

I am a fisherman & know what good crab tastes like & this was not the case. My wife had your flourless chocolate cake & was not impressed. She commented that she has had much better.   • "Our dining experience at the Blue Crab was positive however we were disappointed that we had to order from their "special 3 course meal" on new years eve even though we had enquired earlier and were told we did not have to. The food was very good but I felt we were rushed through it as each course came very quick. We took our dessert with us as we were too full to eat another bite. I also didn't like the fact they only gave us a wine list of bottled wines until we enquired if they sold wine by the half litre or glass."

  • "The food was nicely cooked albeit to out tastes a little well done. We had the crab cakes appi - good, salmon main course cooked well as apposed to our preference of rare in centre. (to be fair we did not ask for rare) also as appetizer I had the platter - well presented excellent nectar on the muscles. My main was the scallops - again I would have preferred opaque centres but were cooked well. The only detractor to this course was the quinoa. So salty! I have eaten many times here and will again - normally I sit in the bar and would recommend both."

  • "Had several business lunches before. Celebrated my wife's birthday, early dinner reservation. Great view and ambiance. Attentive service. I had Blue Buck. My wife chai cocktail, like a dessert, then pinot gris with dinner. Ordered from regular menu. All courses beautifully presented, colourful. Best dish was scallop appetizer - 4 large and delicious morsels - bigger than other restaurants. Crab cakes good with a kick to the aioli. Salmon entrée tasty but was overcooked (although ordered medium rare, she didn't want to make fuss and send it back). Accompanying vegetables were tasty but a bit heavy on the lima beans. Chicken was good but dry. Chocolate dessert was shared, warm and delicious. Would like to return when days longer and brighter."
