Diner Reviews
  • "The food at Blue Coyote is always well-above average, and is well worth the drive to Palm Springs. There are unique dishes of the Santa Fe variety that you would be hard-pressed to find within an hour's drive. I would come here for just the coconut shrimp, but the chicken mole, barbecued ribs, and fajitas, as well as just about every chicken dish, are exceptional."

  • "The food and drinks are always spot on. Some of the best in Palm Springs.........but the gentleman playing the guitar and singing was a bit loud and annoying."

  • "We are here about once a week to every 10 days. The food is consistently good and the service always good. The Margaritas are the best. I always get the Cadillac Margarita and my husband gets the Wild Margarita. If you are going to have more than one, get the mug - the best value."

  • "We have been here before. This was the best experience of all. The people were extremely friendly and the service was excellent. The food was the best Mexican food I've had in a long time. The margaritas were top notch (and strong). We had a table inside by the window and the 106 degree temperature outside didn't bother us at all. Very nice experience and great meal for the money. Prices are very reasonable. I made a reservation on line and they were ready when we arrived."

  • "If you're craving Mexican food in Palm Springs, I guess this is the spot. Food is average and on my visit they wouldn't honor any substitutions."

  • "The manager had quite an attitude. We waited for over 15 minutes for him to appear at the check-in desk. Staff looked for him but had no idea what happened. We were the only ones waiting. We asked if we could sit in the front patio area and he replied that he all of the empty tables were for future reservations. He put us, and those who checked in later, in a back area. He never smiled or said thank you for coming in. He appeared to be a person with a constant bad mood. The food was good and our waiter was good."

  • "Having relocated to Palm Springs recently and having eaten at Blue Coyote years ago, we decided to eat there on Saturday night. Arrived at 6:15pm and promptly seated on the rear patio. Staff not overly friendly ... did their jobs and thats it. When our food arrived, we had to fend off the flies ... lots of them. Food was so-so, and was happy to escape the flies when we left. Take a fly swatter if you go ...."

  • "This was my first time dining at Blue Coyote and they hit all the marks...nice outdoor casual atmosphere, simple fresh flavorful food but what impressed me most was our waiter who was beyond professional and friendly. He took exceptional pride in explaining the restaurant history and culinary concepts, he spent time asking us questions to get to know our preferences and went above and beyond to make sure that we were pleased throughout the meal and service. The waiters effort was most impactful in making a good impression and I'll definitely want to return for the ambiance and food as well. "

  • "Tried a new place to eat this Mothers Day weekend, the Blue Coyote Bar & Grill. The location is great, the food is nothing special, not one of us at our table finished our meals. Our server was outstanding and did a fine job, and they poured a decent drink. For the price, there's better places to eat close by. "

  • "We really enjoy dining at the Blue Coyote. The Quacamole is Excellent as well as the food. You must be sure to have a Margarita when dining here. I highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner. And the outdoor seating area is wonderful."

  • "We met some friends from San Bernardino there for dinner and enjoyed a wonderful evening. The food was excellent and the waiter was thoughtful enough not to rush us, allowing us time to have a long conversation over margueritas before we started dinner."

  • "I had made reservations 2 months in advance because I had a group of 9. I requested the private room and to have champage on the table ready upon arrival. I even called an hour before to confirm. This did not happen, there was just on glass on the table poured. We got past that and proceeded to order. One of our appetizer choices was not available and two of or entrees. The food ended up being pretty good and our actual server was great. Just disappointed in the hostess/manager who arranged the reservation. It is likely we will not return."

  • "Four of us dined at Blue Coyote and each of us ordered something different. I had a salad with chicken that was delicious, and my friends all really enjoyed their orders too. We had a nice outdoor table and the service was excellent. They make a very generous margarita. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone."

  • "We wanted to take guests to an outside venue that was unique. This was perfect. We started with the famous margaritas which were refreshing and very tasty. Each of us ordered different entrees and all said theirs was the best Mexican food they had in a long time. we didn't see prices for the Margaritas. Before ordering maybe it would be best to ask. "

  • "If I make a reservation, I expect a table in a location that's better than what the walk-in patrons receive. What I received was a table right under a mist-making unit that was literally blowing water in my face. And, while I like the mist, I don't like being drowned. Also, the table was tucked away in a corner, where we couldn't see anything happening on the street. So, it was a poor location. Fortunately, the food and drinks were good, so that made up for the table -- somewhat. As I've mentioned before, I used to rate pretty easily, but since everyone on Opentable seems to think that there are nothing but 4-5 star restaurants, I've decided to rate a lot tougher. If you want a high rating from me, the experience must be great."

  • "Our table was ready very quickly even though we switched from outdoor to indoor preference (hot day and the guys wanted to see the BB game). The food was plentiful, hot and very tasty. Our waiter was a kick and the cost was reasonable enough for us to treat our family of 7! "

  • "Excellent food and drinks. The service was very good and loved eating outside. The furniture was a little weathered. All in all, it was a lot of fun."

  • "We had the Enchilada Trio and the seafood enchilada. Both were outstanding with generous portions. The enchiladas were made so that some took on a lovely pink color which was a delight to the eye, and the rice was enhanced by the inclusion of corn and Limas. The Margaritas were made fresh and tasted like it. We were on the patio and enjoyed the street view, the umbrellas, and the cooling mist."

  • "Good chips and salsa, good margaritas but the food was very institutional. There are much better options in Palm Speings."
    Dined on 4/5/2014
  • "Although the service was excellent the food was disappointing. We were a party of 9 and only 3 had the exact order done correctly. There are so many great restaurants I would not return here."

  • "Had a great dinner for 6. They were busy but excellent service from our server Jose. The drinks were fantastic, we had wild margaritas, mango margaritas, mojitos. Everyone was happy with their choices. We had a range of dinners shrimp fajitas, chicken enchilada, ceviche, chile rellanos, posole, taquitos. Overall a fun and great experience."

  • "The dining space at blue coyote is gorgeous. The margaritas and the chips and salsa are delicious. Our meals were tasty, but not remarkable. Our service was a bit lacking. We would try another spot before we go back again."

  • "I've been to Blue Coyote many times, & almost always sit on the front patio facing Palm Canyon Drive. This time, we were at the opposite end of the restaurant(inside, at the very back). If felt like a completely different venue; noisy & a little bit isolated. "

  • "Prior to going to the Palm Springs VillageFest, we had Tostadas and Margarita and enjoyed the comfortable outdoor dinning setting. I recommend making a reservation in advance, if you want to nice table on the patio."

  • "My wife and I consider the Blue Coyote to be our favorite restaurant in PS and possibly anywhere. The food is unique and delicious. The margaritas are dangerously great (be warned)."

  • "Call for reservations for 7 people and was greeted with a friendly smile even though it was a busy night. The service was excellent (Don is very attentive and has a friendly attitude making suggestions as necessary). The margaritas are exceptional but watch out for the Wild Margarita. They are powerful. The stroll musician added to the charm and made a great meal even better. I had the seafood burrito which was over stuffed with shrimp, fish and scallops. Others had the enchiladas, the carna asada, the red snapper and various other types if burritos. All were excellent and perfectly made. Will definitely return many times."

  • "My wife and I have been dining at the Blue Coyote for a long time. It is our favorite restaurant in PS. The margaritas are smooth and POWERFUL (be careful). The food is prepared in a very unique manner - it's wonderful! Don't leave PS without trying this restaurant."

  • "Got here on a busy night, street fair night. However does not excuse worst wait ever. We were seated right away. Order taken within 10 min, but after 50 min, no acknowledgement until we asked where our food was. Only brought one refill of beverage and NO chip refill. When we asked for a discount or comped meal, waitress said she spoke to manager and would "do something" then our order was placed. 10 min. later no food. Said they had a couple of 20+ parties, but still no excuse. Finally when no food arrived, we simply left and went to Dennys. Got dinner 10 min. after order was placed. Don't bother coming here. Las Casuelas would have been a MUCH better choice wit teh 45 min. wait, would have had food sooner."
