The waitress (whoever it happens to be) is always very personable and extends herself to meet my requests. There is gentle encouragement to try foods or recipes that are new to me and suggestions to meet my preferences. The tenderloin is prepared to my stated perfection. I have dined in all the various sections of the restaurant and find these service and dining experiences to be consistent throughout. The Chef's specialty of Pretzel Crusted trout was outstanding. We sat in the bar area by the fire place and the atmosphere was cozy and relaxed. Only issue we had was paying for drinks at the bar. They had one person working between 6:30 and 7:00 on a Tuesday evening and a bar filled with people. Didn't work very well - had to wait at least 20 minutes for her to take my money and get me change (ended up getting seated before the change arrived, so they brought it to my table). However, this was a new waitress for me and she seemed stressed, was not very communicative, and took the edge off the dining experience for me, unfortunately. Another new experience was facing the large windows on the eastern side of the dining room just before dusk. I recently underwent cataract surgery and the light was too bright for my comfort, initially. The brightness also resulted in the disappearance of my dinner mate's facial features; her head was merely a dark outline. There isn't anything specifically about the visit that made me feel like it wasn't a great experience, but I felt that it was a little overpriced for the food that we received. It just wasn't stellar. From what I'd read on the website, I was expecting an experience that would give a new twist on that style of food, but it was typical American fare aside from the potato chips, which were very good. I would have preferred to dip them instead of having the sauce drizzled all over them, which made them soggy. Again, one of my complaints about pretty much everywhere I eat is that nobody has a very good selection (or ANY selection) of sugar-free beverages. The interior decor was beautifully done in a southwestern motif. The food was exellent, service was prompt and courteous without being overbearing, the table was large and the seating was comfortable. What more could you ask for? Prices were appropriate, and they had a section on the menu for smaller appetites, priced accordingly.
