A word from Blue Bell Inn
The redesigned rustic-meets-modern ambiance compliments the Contemporary American menu which features premium cuts of meat, ocean-fresh seafood and signature raw bar. Seasonal outdoor dining on the flagstone patio is available upon request.
In 2013, Blue Bell Inn underwent extensive renovations for over a year. Various historical aspects were enhanced through thoughtful restoration and new materials such as solid white oak and porcelain tile floors were introduced to create a stunning architectural mélange spanning three centuries.

Diner Reviews
  • "The restaurant has just opened after a year of renovations so there is a learning curve. Our waiter couldn't describe any of the Chardonnays on the drink menu saying all Chardonnays taste oaky? The salads were wonderful but my Branzino, while very good, was not as good as the side dish that came with it. My husband ordered a short rib with a side of lobster and the lobster was "plopped" on top. An "interesting" presentation. Unfortunately, the Chateaubriand is gone. I guess, as one of the management recently mentioned, we are considered one of the "older people" no longer part of their target market. We ran into some friends and the waitstaff was very cordial about letting us move to another table. "

  • "Nice renovation. Inexperienced staff at a fine dining establishment ruined the experience. Walked out without eating."

  • "Visited 6 days after its reopening. Atmosphere totally changed from previously. Much younger and varied crowd. A bar scene which didn't previously exist. Intriguing decor, with overhead garage doors openable to a walled-in open-air patio with a well-placed waterfall. Lots of people using the patio (70 degree evening, clear, gorgeous). Several separate dining areas. Drinks just a tad pricey. Food variable. Tuna perfectly done. Filet grilled properly (medium rare) but tasteless. Potatoes and green beans unremarkable. Desserts good. Waiter a bit overenthusiastic, but the whole place was new. Strangely enough, they had valet parking, which I thought was totally unnecessary. Worth a second visit in a couple of months to see how things are going."

  • "Beautiful atmosphere. This was the first full weekend for this redone classic. The main bar was closed for a private party, shuffling the guests to the smaller bar near the outdoor patio, Unfortunately, service was slow and the bartenders were inexperienced. Once at our table, the waiter was prompt but the food was slow to be served. Quality of the food was excellent but our tuna was a little bland. We will try it one more time."

  • "I try never to go to a new place in the first month as they always need to work out the kinks. Against my own thought, went to BBI first week. It was really great. Wait staff a little newbie but tried very hard. Food great. Outdoor bar awesome. Only negative was how disgraceful it was for $5 valet parking. They should be embarrassed at that..."

  • "At 6pm, I asked if we could be seated on the patio, where several empty tables awaited us. The hostess said there was nothing available. Their patio policy is first come, first served so..? We were escorted to a plain room way in back that looked very much like a small corporate conference room. We had come for the much touted beauty. The hostess pointed out the nicer rooms, though, as we breezed past en route to ours. There were several tables available! My arugula and spinach salad was very good, as was my husband's Bibb salad. His "aged" hamburger was tough and not medium rare as advertised --and it was tough. The mini cupcake trio was fantastic. The Vancouver oysters I ordered came with a decent mignonette but all 6 had pieces of shell."

  • "We ate at the BBI the first Saturday of their re opening. They need to continue working improving their service. There was confusion with drinks and the bill. The service was extremely slow. With time I think that will improve and I would give them another try. The food was good. The noise level a bit high. It was difficult to hear your conversations. The renovations were clearly worth the effort."

  • "Unfortunately we were seated first table from the bar, and had we known all tables were not quite so "busy and loud", we would have requested to move. There with elderly people, difficult to converse easily. We toured the restaurant after ordering, awkward to move after that. It appeared entrees were a la carte. Companion ordered filet, ordered sides. Same for other guest. Little did we know entree came with mashed potato and green beans, extra sides abounded. Perhaps we should have asked...but wish server would have volunteered the accompaniments included, especially seeing the quantity of food ordered. Food was very good, good variety, and all hands on deck service for first week opening. Dessert cupcakes dry. Would try again."

  • "Looking for a boring, overpriced, under-serviced establishment? Look no further."

  • "Anxiously awaiting the opening of Blue Bell which we have been going to for years, we found it to be a whole new delightful experience. The redo is absolutely stunning from the new beautifully expanded bar area and large outdoor patio, to the handsome dining rooms. The service and attention was first rate. The menu selections were excellent, as were the "small plates" menu. The food was all that we expected and more. Delicious. The noise level in the dining room near the bar area was a bit loud for normal conversation. The only negative for the evening. We certainly look forward to many, enjoyable dining experiences at Blue Bell. One of our favorites going forward"

  • "We had a very good dining experience on the Grand Opening Day. The food was great, the service was great and they did a fabulous job with the renovations and decor. Love the 2nd bar near the doors leading to the outside patio. Looking forward to fun times at the newly renovated Blue Inn!"

  • "Blue Bell Inn opened up after long renovations on April 7, 2014. Our first visit was April 9. Nicely done renovations and a very interesting menu, nice wine list. We expected some "new beginning" issues but really had none. Those that did occur around us were quickly handled. Part of the issue was the large corporate party in the bar area no doubt taking up serious kitchen time. The food was very good, nicely presented; and the service we had was very attentive. We will certainly return and look forward to the Blue Bell Inn once again being a destination restaurant, if not a neighborhood gem."

  • "It is hard to judge because it was the third day opened. They need to work on service and food prep. The bar was really busy and seemed vibrant. The food came out cold and was returned. The filet was good cooked perfectly but the sides were not up to the meat. The room was beautiful but somewhat noisy. The manager came over and asked how everything was we answered and he said he welcomed our feedback. They wanted honest feedback but no compensation was offered. Maybe I. A few months things will improve and they will work out kinks."

  • "The rennovations were awesome. Love the look and feel of the place. Cant wait to dine in the outdoor patio or have some drinks by the firepit. Service was great and food was out timely, impressive during opening week. I will definitely be back. For some reason, at about 830pm while we were wrapping up our meal, they started blasting awful techno music. That was weird."

  • "Four of us dined on opening night. So nice to see the transformation of the building, the service, and the menu. Homemade hummus was mild and creamy, very good. Caesar salad was not the best my husband has had, but still good.My (I am vegetarian) black pepper pappardel was absolutely delicious - so nice they are thinking of us veggie folks. A ribeye steak and a filet were tender and cooked perfectly. Seafood risotto was perfectly done and seasoned. Nice choice of wines by the glass. We can't wait to eat outdoors, and will be back soon."
