A word from Blue Bell Inn
The redesigned rustic-meets-modern ambiance compliments the Contemporary American menu which features premium cuts of meat, ocean-fresh seafood and signature raw bar. Seasonal outdoor dining on the flagstone patio is available upon request.
In 2013, Blue Bell Inn underwent extensive renovations for over a year. Various historical aspects were enhanced through thoughtful restoration and new materials such as solid white oak and porcelain tile floors were introduced to create a stunning architectural mélange spanning three centuries.

  • "Pleasantly surprised, looking forward to dinning here again."

  • "My wife and I dined at this location and it is so much better than it used to be. It is more contemporary for people in their 30s, 40s, or 50s. They scared away all the blue haired people!!!. It's finally a hip place to go! It does not have a huge menu but what they do have they do well. Can't wait to go back again"

  • "My mother and I had an early dinner Saturday night in the open area next to the patio. The food was absolutely delicious, our waitress was a delight and the setting was perfect! Doesn't get much better than that!! This was the first time my mother has been there since the renovation and she was amazed at the transformation."

  • "IThe Blue Bell Inn has always been one of my favorite restaurants. When I returned I heard that it was redone. I was excited to see it. The decor is wonderful. I was disappointed that some of my favorite foods were not on the menu. The entree menu was very limited. I ordered the chicken dish is was fine. my partner ordered the seafood pasta. When it arrived I was shocked to see how small the portion was. It had 4 shrimp and some indistinguishable crab. It was a BIG disappointment. The prices are high, especially for the quantity and quality of the food. We will NOT be back."

  • "Excellent food and ambience, but very pricey for medium sized and only very good dishes."

  • "While lots of attention is always welcome, a tad too much is a tad too much. No need for various & sundry staff (at all levels of management) and who knows how many other kind waitpersons to hover and question how our diners were doing. Sometimes "less is more"!"

  • "Made a reservation for 6 people on a Saturday night ~ in advance because of weekends being the busy time & requested an outdoor table on my OpenTable reservation because I'm always freezing in air conditioned restaurants. Arrived and was told that outside seating if first come first served. Instead of giving us a table near the open windows - they shoved us in the dark internal Oak Room. They couldn't have phoned to tell me their outside seating policy??? The food was inconsistent & nothing remarkable. And the service was sporadic at best. I would have thought things would be improved since my last visit. Sadly ~ this place will remain at the bottom of my list."

  • "loved it before & now we love it even more! gorgeous renovations, delicious menu. I miss the bernaise that used to accompany the filet, but we'll definitely be back!"

  • "My wife and I went for a spur of the moment date night. We arrived early to have a drink in the bar. The main bar is very large and noisy, and on Friday night was packed. Given the crowd, the service from the bartender was very good. Dinner was another matter. We were seated on time, and the waiter appeared immediately to welcome us. After that, it went downhill. The service was slow, and seemed a bit off. My wife ordered a special Beet Salad that she really enjoyed, but the rest of our meals were mediocre at best - not prepared correctly or just bland. We frequent several of the restaurants in this area, and there are definitely better options for the money."

  • "A friend and I were seated in the Founders Room with special wall coverings -- metallic , with studs. Its hard to explain. My martini was perfect and I enjoyed a large filet mignon that was tasty but, as I had requested, rare. Next time I'll make it medium rare. My friend also enjoyed her entree, the lobster bake, with a variety of shellfish and sweet corn. Instead of an appetizer, we shared a Blue Bell Inn Caesar salad that was ample in size and delicious. Our respective desserts of Kentucky cappuccino and white chocolate ice cream were perfect selections to end our meal. On a Thursday night the Inn was busy, with a happy crowd of diners."

  • "Wife and I went on a WED EVENING 6PM FOR DINNER. ASKED FOR A QUIET AREA AS WHEN YOU ENTER IT IS VERY NOISY. THE PLACE HAS HAD A MAKEOVER AND IN MY OPINION IT WAS A FAILURE. THIS PLACE NOW LOOKS ON THE INSIDE LIKE A SPORTS BAR NOT A QUAINT INN. SERVICE WAS VERY GOOD AND FOOD WAS SERVED HOT. SORT OF SMALL PORTIONS BUT THE TAB WAS LARGE. AS TO WOULD I GO THERE AGAIN MY ANSWER IS ONLY IF TAKEN THERE BY SOMEONE ELSE."

  • "My husband and I just celebrated our wedding anniversary at the Blue Bell Inn. I have dined many times in the past at the Inn but this was the first time for dinner since the renovations. The restaurant is exquisite. Loved the atmosphere downstairs and we had our dinner upstairs in a beautiful room. The service was wonderful and the food was simply delicious especially the calamari."

  • "Food is delicious, atmosphere is great, it's just a little excessively noisy. So, hard to have any kind of conversation when you are eating."

  • "Excellent food; filet mignon was superb; Bit expensive for average middle class family Service was superior"

  • "Food was delicious, soft shell crab sandwich. Great beer selection and specialty cocktails. Space is exquisite - recent renovation is superb! Staff is attentive and helpful. Recommend for any and all occasions. Blue Bell Inn is quite impressive on all fronts!"

  • "First visit with the new owners. Extensive renovations are beautifully done. Food was very good and our server quite attentive. My only complaint was it is very noisy and it was not even half full at our midweek lunch. I also felt the prices were very high. Although it was too hot the day we were there, the outside terrace is gorgeous."

  • "The noise level dominates the whole dining experience. It was our third visit to the beautifully renovated favorite spot each time seated in the bar area, all thre times with small group 4 to 6. Conversation was impossible Manager came over to see how we were doing and we told him of noise problem and he said they knew they had a problem and were working on it. I wonder why planners didn't realize noise would be a problem before they began renovation. Aren't restaurant designers aware of what seems to be a universal problem? We won't go back until we hear that something has been done to tone down the place. And they play loud music on top of the problem!!!!! Why don't they think ?"

  • "If dining during the week make a point of getting there early to enjoy a great happy hour (5-7pm)- drinks were excellent and the free appetizers were awesome. Every time we turned around there was a waiter offering another free appetizer - never experienced anything like it! Diner was fun - dining outside in the courtyard was casual yet elegant. The Seafood Bake was great and the Seared Yellowfin Tuna was superb. Our waiter was very attentive and the specialty drinks were tasty. I would recommend the Blue Bell Inn & will definitely be back for happy hour!"

  • "A more modern/hip Blue Bell Inn. Prices are up and portions are down from "old" BBI but nice for special occasion, particularly if you can get a seat in the outdoor patio."
    Dined on 6/28/2014
  • "This was our first time to the new Blue Bell Inn. Since it was a special occasion, we figured we would give it a try. The place is lovely, huge, open design - really nice. There is definitely a high noise level. There are still some areas that hold remnants of the old BBI, but this is a huge, new sprawling restaurant. Our dinner was delicious and all was served promptly and cordially. The meals are expensive (similar to center city prices). But everything we ate was perfect. We were there on an early Saturday evening, and by the time we left (7:15), the place was packed to the gills! Highly recommended, but be prepared for an expensive dinner. Oh, and try the coconut chocolate bread pudding. You won't be sorry."

  • "We heard the Inn reopened so I went on line to see and it looked great. However, as pricey as it was, and I don't mind if it's worth it, this was the most horrible food I ever had. My 14oz steak was nowhere near 14oz's and the mashed potatoes were disgusting. These owners have a steak house in Ambler??? I won't be going there either! The desserts were also disgusting! The table next to us were celebrating a birthday and they had terrible food as well. We will NOT be going back there unless they get a chef that can cook!! We thought we had found an alternative to William Penn Inn....NOT! I can't say enough about how bad this place was. Bar area? So crowded we couldn't get a drink. No bar floor service for drinks? WTF?"

  • "Excellent food, excellent atmosphere, excellent service. I have already recommended this restaurant to friends and family and I will be returning many times. I am excited that I found a restaurant nearby that I love."

  • "I went for lunch with two friends. We sat outside and it was very nice. The food was delicious. Service was a bit slow...it took a while for our food. They brought my one friend's ceviche before our food was ready. She asked for them to take it back and keep it cool. When our food finally came out, it took another few minutes for them to bring hers back. We also asked for an umbrella to be moved over us, so we weren't baking in the sun. The waiter that we asked seemed bothered by this (even though he had just done it for another table). Said he would have to check and never returned."

  • "Met with friends for lunch. It was a beautiful day so we ate outside. We had made reservations as it is a very popular spot. Lunch and service were both excellent."

  • "The food was good but a bit overpriced. One of our appetizers took a very long time, which was disappointing. But the outdoor seating was very nice!"

  • "I did not like the previous Blue Bell Inn at all. The new space is fantastic! Love the outdoor patio, and the food was delicious as well (mushroom and truffle risotto ... Mmmmm). I will come back."

  • "We had a wonderful dinner on our anniversary. Our waiter was amazing. The salad was so fresh and delicious. One of the best filets I ever had as well. The seafood pasta was also wonderful - the sauce was unlike any we've ever had. Overall, recommend to anyone wanting a superior dining experience. Worth the price."

  • "This was our fifth time at the new Blue Bell.I was happy to see a vegetarian menu, and the staff was more willing to alter dishes to make them vegetarian.I had the Cobb salad (sans bacon and chicken)-very generous portion, perfectly crisp lettuce and other ingredients, nice mild dressing. And the mushroom flatbread sans prosciutto (they added extra mushrooms) was perfectly delicious.Omnivore hubby had the wedge, which he loves at Blue Bell, and the crabcake sadnwich which had great flavor and texture. The wine by the glass list is superb. The outdoor dining is so very attractive, with the wall of water in the background. We will be back next week."

  • "The rejuvenated Blue Bell Inn is quite nice. Have been for weekday dinner and lunch. Food and service are very good.. Noise level in the dining room at night was a bit much. Overall, a definite improvement from the former 'shabby chic' establishment. (Try the ceviche, a personal fav.)"

  • "We decided to eat at the Blue Bell Inn because we had not been there since their renovations. We were not disappointed. It look great! I initially asked for seating outside but when one of the members from our party was sun sensitive the wait staff was very accommodating and moved us inside. The food was great and delivered to our table in a timely fashion. The wait staff was respectful of the fact that our party wanted to hang out and catch up."

  • "My wife and I have made it a practice to take our friends out to dinner to celebrate their birthdays. The recently renovated Bluebell Inn did not disappoint. Vittorio's service was friendly, not stuffy and he efficiently handled special requests. Food was served timely and elegantly. The Bronzino, salmon and short rib pasta dishes were excellent and not at all reminiscent of our parents Bluebell Inn. The restaurant comped us for their cupcakes dessert in honor of our friend's birthday. We will come back. -- though we aren't drinkers, the restaurant has quite a lively and trendy bar scene."

  • "Friday night dinner for 4 Seniors who wanted to have long conversation along with good food. They seated us in a quiet back room, even though the rest of the place was rockin' loud. Our waitress was amazing. She was friendly, not pushy and seemed to sense the right timing for everything. The rest of the help was equally good. All 4 of us enjoyed our meals - one steak, on mixed seafood dish, one chicken dish and one lobster roll. The dessert was great -- coconut bread pudding. Prices were fair"

  • "The noise level was offensive and will prevent me from returning. I could not converse with my wife. The attire of female hostesses was unprofessional; you're running a restaurant, not a strip club. If you want to run a club, you've arrived. The customers are coming to see and be seen, not have a quiet relaxing meal. Your food was excellent; in a less frenetic setting, it might be outstanding. Your cocktail selection was poor; my drink was served in a thin glass with a huge amount of ice, making it dilute, giving the impression that you're out to make money, not memorable cocktails. Offer your customers whatever they like; they're not stupid."
