  • "We had high expectations after viewing other web reviews. Our experience at Blue exceeded our expectations. From the moment we walked in, the service was exceptional, both at the bar and at our table. The wait staff was very friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. The food was outstanding. We sampled a few of the appetizers. The crab cakes were awesome. My wife had the sea bass and I had the fillet, both were excellent. We can't believe we'd lived in the North Hills for so long and have not come across Blue before. It definitely is one of the best secrets in this part of the city. We'll certainly be returning and would recommend it highly for a special occasion or just a fun night out."

  • "Excellent food, terrific service. Unperturbed by a late comer, and smilingly corrected a drink they was off.. Get the crab cake appetizer, or the lamb lollipops. The sea bass is divine, along with the rack of lamb, the ahi tuna and the lobster linguine. Caution...don't get the duck entree, and the crab cake appetizer is superior to the crab cakes in the entree...go figure."

  • "Friends recommended Blue, and we decided to take a chance. Blue is in a strip-mall, and from the outside my expectations were low. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and the martini menu. The gal that greeted us was friendly, but her outfit was super casual. Our server was attentive, although it took time for her to make her first appearance, even though the restaurant wasn't crowded on April 1. My Mojitotini was delicious, as well as our entrees - scallops and lobster linguine. We had made a reservation on-line and mentioned that it was a birthday dinner, thinking perhaps they'd surprise us with a birthday cupcake. I would recommend Blue - outdoor seating might be fun in the nice weather."

  • "I thought the food was just OK. The portions are small in comparison to the price you pay. The quality and taste of the food is average as well. I didn't feel like the 2 entrees that we got (the Sea Bass, and the Rack of Lamb) were worth the price, and that I could have made them at home. I eat out a lot at what is considered higher end restaurants in Pittsburgh, and just don't fee that Blue holds up to the others. Don't get me wrong, it was not a bad meal by any means, but just not worth the money. The servers were attentive enough and the atmosphere is very clean and modern."

  • "We love going to Blue on a regular basis. This is downtown quality restaurant in a suburban strip mall. Appetizers are fabulous. Sometimes we get 2 of them for our dinner. We have never had a bad meal or a bad time. The bar is spectacular in appearance and in selection of martinis. Servers are pleasant and energetic. Booth seating adds romance to a vibrant place."

  • "Blue is a great martini bar! In the past I've just gone for drinks, which were always really good. The bartenders are super friendly, and they have a ton of specialty martinis. I've also done happy hours and enjoyed some of the appetizers as well. This was the second time I've dined at Blue and I LOVE it! I had the Ahi Tuna and my boyfriend had the lamb, and we were both very happy with our meals. Blue is definitely a hidden gem!"

  • "We had a lovely dinner. Our server was very attentive, and our food was elegantly presented and beyond delicious. We were pleased that the chef was attentive to the issue of gluten sensitivity, too. Our only disappointment was that we were seated at a very small table for two, while other couples who arrived after us we're put at larger tables, of which there were quite a few unoccupied - and we'd made our reservation a month before. We realize that we could have asked for another table but didn't want to make that big of a deal out of it. We will be sure in the future to be specific about our table preference when we make a reservation."

  • "From the outside Blue is very unappealing. Located in a strip mall, it does not look like a quality rearaurant from the parking lot. But inside the place is hopping. The bar is always vibrant. Valentines day was our most recent occasion to go to Blue. We make it our destination for all birthdays, anniversaries, etc. the service was very goo. Our waitress was knowledgable and attentive without being a nuisance. I love the rack of lamb and my wife usually gets the sea bass. Both were cooked perfectly and attractively presented. We have neveer been disappointed with our Blue experience."

  • "Blue, being in a strip mall, has no parking challenges. Lovely interior, love the gas fire. Spectacular MartinI menu (try the Divatini). and great wine list. Terrific variety of super reasonable house wines. The three of us shared the calamari and lamb lollipops to start, perfectly prepared. These were followed by their salads... the beet was ample and delicious. The three entrees we got were the manicotti, duck, and sea bass entrees all wonderful, but the sea bass was the star. No room for dessert, next time! The prices were all very reasonable, too, for the superb meal. New waitress, first day on the job, was delightful."

The crabcakes were fishy and over salted; the lamb tasty but over salted; and Eichner's chicken was such a tiny portion it was embarassing. All of the sides were stingy and luke warm. In addition the waiter was aloof and unaccomodating. We took out of town guests and were very embarrassed."

  • "This place is our neighborhood gem, and I almost don't want to tell people about it for fear that it will become too popular. The food is amazing. We particularly love the calamari as well as the lobster mac and cheese, but honestly, you could close your eyes and point to something on the menu and be thrilled with it...from a great burger to Chilean sea bass.....EVERYTHING good. We have fun just eating at the bar, on nights we just don't want to cook or sitting in the dining area. Again, both good :-)"

  • "We recently moved to the North Hills and decided to try a local restaurant; it had really good reviews so we went on a Friday evening and although it's a little place in a nondescript strip mall, the place was vibrant! We were seated quickly; we had reservations via Open Table and got a few of their signature martini's (largest martini selection I've ever seen) and they were good. Then the food came and it was just Awesome! Crab cake, tuna tartare appetizers, lobster fettuccini and rack of lamb - fantastic! The deserts - excellent! It's not cheap ($120 about) for what we had (my wife and I) which is pricy given the atmosphere of the place isn't fancy, but the food was so good that it was worth it. Will definitely go back."

  • "Blue was a very modern place, offering live jazz during the week. My husband and I went on a week night and the place was practically empty but we did not let that deter us. I enjoyed a delicious vodka martini with blue cheese stuffed olives. We shared a duck ravioli appetizer that was amazing. Both of our entrees were exceptional, especially the Gorgonzola topped Delmonico! I was very impressed with the service as well. We will definitely return to Blue in the very near future and bring our friends with us!"

  • "Blue is not sad, like the color blue, but happy and energetic. We were there as a small group and enjoyed everything we had. The noise a bit much with all the groups, etc. But, we enjoyed our time, the food, and the atmosphere on the whole. I was disappointed in the martini I had. They had such a great list of options, I really thought the caliber of the vodka would have been better. We didn't have desserts, but they certainly sounded good. Lamb was prepared nicely as were the scallops and couscous. The lobster risotta was lackluster. Salads were great. We'll go back at some point."

The menu and prices are upscale, but while the server was nice and efficient, we felt rushed as if we were in a quick service chain restaurant trying to turn tables as quickly as possible. I understand that's important and it's also important to check in with the customers, but we noticed most of the servers were like ours, rushing around, which took away from the nice, relaxed evening we had planned. It's a great little place and we'll try it again."

  • "Took my boyfriend here for something special for his birthday weekend, and we were very impressed. I chose the restaurant based on the fact that they served lamb and I had heard great reviews. Although the bar scene was very lively, we chose a room off to the side and the hostess was glad to assist us. The atmosphere was perfect and the alcohol prices were reasonable. Although the food was a bit overpriced, it was unique and delicious. Will definitely come here again, although mostly just for special occasions."

  • "The food overall was very good. If you like seafood, this place is for you. My pasta was just okay. All of our salads were exceptionally good. The Brussels sprouts were fantastic. The waitress was very honest when she told us we had the worst table in the place. Apparently the table is over-looked by most servers because it's out of the way. With that, service was a little slow but acceptable for a busy night. Bar scene looked very cool."
