  • "Good food, fair selection, but nothing too outstanding. I took a few work friends here and while they do great bar, they do only fair to good food. I liked my steak and the chipotle sweet potatoes were very good. However, other things were a little "meh." I'd go back and try something different but maybe with just me and my partner."

  • "Had a nice evening,.. easy to find parking, easy to find the place, and good service, they sat us right away. If you are looking for a good and different Margarita , this is the place."

  • "Nice high-end Mexican restaurant. Very good food quality and preparation. Very attentive service providers."

  • "The atmosphere and live music were great, outdoor patio with heat lamps was a great setting. The food was terrible. I ordered a seafood stew, everything in it was tough and overcooked, and I believe there was imitation crab meat in it. Found a couple of bones in the fish. Didn't even finish it, which is too bad since we paid over $25 per plate. I would not recommend this restaurant except for happy hour drinks. Also, had a coupon for $10 off two dinners which clearly stated "for use on any day," but since it was Valentine's day they would not accept it."

  • "Came here with my wife for Valentine's day. The service was phenomenal, the food was packed with fresh ingredients, the margaritas were top notch, and the guitar player created the perfect atmosphere. There were enough outdoor heaters to ensure the temperature was perfect. The Blue Agave Club hit it out of the park!"

  • "We just moved to Pleasanton from Texas and celebrated my husband's birthday here. The food was delicious and we had excellent customer service. We loved sitting outside under the gas lamps listening to the guitarist. It was warm, and inviting. They were also very attentive to my son's food allergy, which made the evening relaxing."

  • "The service was courteous and attentive. Food was very good and different from the run of the mill. Enjoyed the evening."

  • "After reading mixed reviews I was hesitant about taking friends I hadn't seen for a long time to this restaurant. What a surprise! The ambiance was nice and welcoming. The food was delicious! It's not a place to go all the time, since the price is high, but definitely a place for special occasions."

  • "The grilled shrimp can be ordered with a variety of sauces; superb. One member of our party had food allergies, and the chef not only accommodated her requests, but prepared an excellent salmon dish for her. Extensive selection of tequilas. The service is very good."

  • "We met for lunch, a group of nine with two children, the menu offered selections for everyone, service was good and the food was excellent. The Blue Agave was a great experience."

  • "We've been here a number of times over the past few years. The menu has been revised and I decided to try a new vegetarian dish called stuffed eggplant. It was not really stuffed. It was a partial piece of eggplant with a small amount of diced veggies on top and a small sprinkling of cheese bits, not melted as the menu said. I was very disappointed. It wasn't very much to eat and not especially tasty."

  • "We have lived in Pleasanton for 35 years and use to go to the restaurant when it was Hacienda Del Sol and had very wrongly assumed it is a run of mill Mexican restaurant with a new name. It was NOT a run of a mill Mexican restaurant. It was a culinary experience."

  • "Blue Agave - Local spot for yum mexican food. Love their guacamole and chicken mole. They have outdoor and indoor seating. Service is also very good."
    Dined on 10/5/2013
  • "Blue Agave was recommended by one of my clients who lives and works in San Jose. I live in Brentwood and Blue Agave is about equidistant to meet my San Jose contacts and clients. I had lunch with one of my San Jose vendors and lunch worked out perfectly. The food was really good. The ambiance was nice and the service was excellent. I especially loved the chips and salsa."

  • "Food is always the best and the margaritas are awesome."

  • "I enjoyed the Salmon entrée. The chips with three varieties of salsa were not your garden-variety out of the bag chips. Guitar player was very talented."

  • "I'd been here several times, but it had been a few years. They haven't missed a beat. It was excellent as I remembered and I won't wait so long for the next visit. Sevice was wonderful, food was excellent. On the Sat. night we were there, a very talented guitarist provided a romantic backdrop to a wonderful evening."

  • "The food was bland. I love Mexican food and was excited to try it for lunch as it was actually recommended by 2 coworkers. The guac was fresh but had virtually no seasoning/spice that I could detect. I also had the tortilla soup and it was okay, not great. The biggest disappointment was the carnitas which was apparently simmered in liquid versus slow roasted in the oven. It again lacked seasoning and wasn't very appealing textually or in the flavor. I can do the same thing but better in my crockpot frankly. On the positive side, the restaurant ambiance was lovely in an old vintage home and there was lots of seating. I don't live or work close by but could see it as a great after work hotspot if the drinks are good."

  • "Great outside venue. Flamenco Guitar playing in the background. Food was great, service was slow, not the usual."
