Nice little spot in downtown Pleasanton. The Margaritas were great as well as the Tortilla Soup. The Trinity Enchiladas were very cheesy, just the way I like them! Will come back again!

My wife and I have been long time patrons to Blue Agave. The food was always good, great service and quick. Went Thursday night, the services was terribly slow, the guacamole was unsalted and plain, and the food was less than mediocre. We were extremely disappointed as we had family in town from NY and we picked this place based on its prior history. It was a bad choice. Time to find a new Mexican food place. :-/

I was warned that this place was nice, but, way too expensive for what you get. We had margaritas that were served in small glasses resembling small stemmed water goblets & they were $12 each!? What? For 1/2 the size of your typical Margarita? Really? At the last minute, my date ordered a carnitas served w/ 4 small flour tortillas, a scoop of refried beans, and scoop of corn meal. The bill came & that little "app" was $24!? Sooo, 4 small margaritas, one App came to $89. Really? I don't complain if the price justifies the product, but, I managed a Mexican Restaurant that was more "high end" and the $$ are ridiculous & don't justify the outdoor seating. Couple next to us asked if they could eat inside- were told "there's no tables inside".

Not really too much to add. Food was served cold (need to check microwave settings....) and had very little taste. Chips taste and look as if they were fried in old oil. Salsa dips were quite good as was fried rice. Hostess and rest of staff were not friendly at all. Service was very rushed. This place has been here for many years, it is time to rethink and update the entire experience. Need to start in the kitchen and menu.

We like to eat at Blue Agave Club each year when we come to Pleasanton for the Highland Games (Labor Day weekend). It's lovely to sit outside and the food is very high-quality and fresh, with many excellent specialty and fish dishes - not your basic Mexican restaurant. The servers are knowledgeable about the long list of tequilas offered; there are heat lamps on chillier nights. We highly recommend it - make reservations!

Friday --- We arrived early 5:30 pm (before they opened) so had to wait on the sidewalk a little while. Seated, order margaritas in a pitcher, tasted watered down. Food was excellent ! Salmon perfect ! Mole wonderful ! Requested water and had to ask 3 additional times to get attention. But overall we and our friends will dine again.

Went to have a nice dinner with friends from out of the country, wishing to show them our quaint town while we ate. I had expressed this when I made my reservation. We were seated in an out of the way corner where we were forgotten about...definitely not a great location. Had to ask several times for water, had to ask for salt, had to ask for a refill on water, had to flag down a waiter and then had to ask for our check. Definitely not the experience we were looking for.

This is a good restaurant for special occasions. Nice ambiance, good food, nice (not too loud) live music. Blue Agave Club promotes itself as having classic Mexican dishes as well as new twists on old favorites. Not a taco, true enchilada or quesadilla to be found. Chips were stale-tasting. Otherwise food was very good. Outside seating very noisy with lots of kids running around, inside was nice.

We have eaten at this place many times in the past, it's our favorite Pleasanton restaurant. A diet kept us away for the past several months, as a treat we went back. The service has noticeably changed but not for the better. Our server stood five feet away our whole meal but ignored us the entire time. He spent most of our meal small talking with all the other staff while standing next to us. We sure hope the manager makes this issue go away soon.

We had a very nice waiter and enjoyed the outdoor seating. Overall the service was good but very sad about the food. Our food was very luke warm. There was a large party served before us and maybe that was the problem but no excuse for sending three of our four meals out lukewarm. The cheese enchiladas were the worst because the cheese which I assume was melted at one time was cold and solid-ugh. Also you would think a place with this rating could make a decent flan-----back to the drawing board on that one! The chocolate mouse dishes had smeared berry sauce on the side so thought that was a little sloppy. Very nice waiter, he saved the day for us.

There is something so relaxing about dining outdoors and Blue Agave Club has a great patio that we thoroughly enjoyed during lunch. There are plenty of trees and umbrellas providing a nice shady spot for most tables. The food is good. We had enchiladas that I would describe as very good traditional Mexican fare -- exactly what we wanted for lunch. There are some interesting (elaborate, complex) entrees on the menu that we will try on a return visit for dinner.

I'm a foodie so I'm pretty picky. The food was artfully presented on the plates and was lovely to look at. We were served within a reasonable time on a busy Friday night and were not rushed to turn our table. I would rate the food 4 out of 5 which is great for Pleasanton and I would definitely recommend to friends and will return myself. I frequently dine in SF or Berkeley so my reference point is pretty high.

Ate here on an evening when the temperature was perfect for outdoor dining. 3 of us each ordered a different entree: seafood, pork chop, and chicken mole. All were good. Albeit, the seafood dish was the least favorite. Service was so-so, considering it was a Wednesday and the restaurant wasn't too busy. Also a bit pricey. $50 for a pitcher of margaritas w/ Don Julio tequila. Ouch!

This is not your average Mexican place. Not only have they taken fine dining to a new level, but they did it by focusing heavily on one region of Mexico, showing us that just like most countries, the cuisine varies from area to area. The tequila list is extensive and interesting - let your waiter help you here. They are also good at explaining all the options, some of which may be new to you. Any time the weather is at all decent, opt to sit outside. It's so great there. They have heat lamps which help on a cooler night. This is a special place but don't save it just for special occasions. You'll want to work your way thru the menu.

Pleasanton's Blue Agave Club is the perfect place to bring a date, meet a friend or just gather with your family. The front garden has lots of shade during the daytime, and at night it is lit up with fairy lights creating a charming vista. The Mexican food is upscale, very fresh and served promptly. Their seafood enchilada's are consistently wonderful, and of course, they are known for their great variety of Tequilia.

This was our first visit to blue agave. We took a friend from out of town and wanted to impress him. What we got was a rude waiter. We ordered some drinks (twice) and both times the server would not bring my wife her drink. I had to ask more than once to "please bring my wife her cocktail". He was rude and never asked us if we wanted anything else after our meal. Then when the check came, the server actually rolled his eyes deliberately in front of us to let us know a $20 tip was unacceptable. We were appauled. We won't be going back.
