Diner Reviews
  • "Always enjoy Blu Que! However service is hit or miss; / Nice outdoor, covered seating, excellent daily specials & Martinis. Love the live music and atmosphere. Dine here often... a favorite of ours for sure!"

  • "Very friendly, niche market for smoked delights! The smoker wings and signature burger were well worth ordering again. Our server (from Wisconsin) was more than accommodating and very diligent. we loved him! only drawback would be how loud dome people/groups can get due to happy hour, so it may not be as kid friendly (language) as you may wish. will recommend and return on our next vacation"

  • "Great ribs and smoked brisket. Music was too loud for talking. Booth outside was nice but couldn't talk to friends !"

  • "Our party of six (2 adults and 4 kids) was seated promptly for our 7pm reservation. Siesta Key dining is so busy during spring break weeks and there are only a couple of restaurants in the village that accept reservations. Lucky for us Blu Que was on Open Table and had reservations available. The menu had a great selection ranging from casual fare to more elaborate dishes. We all enjoyed our meals and our evening at Blu Que!"

  • "The restaurant was not what we expected as far as the atmosphere. (that part we should have looked into in advance) It was very noisy even with the inside dining. The filet was tough which should not happen. Although the server was very good the food took way too long to arrive at the table. We will not choose this restaurant again."
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "Absolute WORST service I have ever had on Siesta Key....waited almost 1 hr and 45 minutes for 1 plate of food out of 5 dinner orders and it was cold! During that entire time, the waiter returned to the table once for a drink order. We we complained to the waiter, he offered to "re-warm" crab cakes....seriously? Asked for the manager from 3 different staff members before he showed up. We left without ever having dinner. Several other tables around us came and went and the tables were reseated again. They comped nothing for our dissatisfaction. I will never go back!"
    Dined on 3/26/2014
  • "Food was bad, service bad (waited over an hour for our food and the restaurant was empty). We involved manager, but she never came to ask how we were doing. If I owned this place I would clean house and start Fresh. The only thing they have going for them is location."
    Dined on 3/26/2014
  • "The decor and ambiance was nice. We waited over an hour for our food that was cold. Then waited 45 min for next helping of all you can eat fish and chips. The manager was nice and gave us dessert."

  • "This was my third time eating at Blu Que. the Margaritas were enormous and very tasty. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Live music was good...not too loud. We will definitely return on our next trip back."
    Dined on 3/25/2014
  • "This was our second trip to this restaurant and we had high hopes... The food was not up to the task! Either our memory made the food really spectacular or it actually was. This time none of us had a home run in our selections. And the crab cakes were actually awful. Two people got margaritas at different times and one came to us clear! It was all alcohol , which normally everyone is ok with, but this one was not. It was like the Tale of Two restaurants . The last time we are here in 2012 it was fantastic. Not sure what happened. The server was great. The music was wonderful too"

  • "pros - dinner for 6 and everyone thought the food was good except the calamari. cons - service was slow. We were there for 1.5 hours before we received our dinners. The only 2 inexpensive white wines on the wine list were not available, even though we know they were out of one of them the week before. They did not offer a price reduction on the more expensive glass even though I thought they should. I couldn't order Sterling for 110.00 per glass when I just bought a whole bottle at Costco for 8.00. Overpriced. I think they also should have given some kind of discount for the terrible calamari. They offered to replace it but we were all skeptical that it would be any better. We left at least 3/4 of the dish uneaten."

  • "we've been to blu que for all you can eat lobster night - very good and all you can eat king crab legs - excellent also. we love this place!"
    Dined on 3/22/2014
  • "Arrived early for a 5:30 reservation and discovered that drinks, including bottles of wine, were half price till 6 PM, as were all appetizers. We ordered a great selection and found we had enough without ordering entrees. Music started at 6PM, which was very good. Waiter was very attentive and very helpful. Definitely would recommend it."

  • "Chicken and ribs were just ok...Wings were good...Music was great...We stopped in person to make dinner reservations but were told they couldn't take a reservation because there wasn't a manager on staff.."
    Dined on 3/20/2014
  • "We made our reservation on Open Table. We are regulars when we are on the Key and we always eat outside. On Open Table we did not see a way to designate "Outside". So when we got there, our table was set inside and no tables were available outside. The host got it fixed in about 20 minutes which was wonderful. Food and music, as always, was wonderful."
    Dined on 3/19/2014
  • "We appreciate being able to make a reservation during the busy season. Waitress was super, but the noise level of the music is deafening. We were waiting for the band to take the break, but when they did they turned on the piped in music. IT IS TOO LOUD. We were never able to have a pleasant conversation and when done eating we left as soon as we were done."
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "We had a group of 8 ages 16-82. The consensus was that the music was too loud. The live music was good, but even our server had trouble hearing us. The great service and amazing food made it a much better experience. We all had a different dish and returned empty plates! We never waited for water refills or plates to be cleared, any staff walking by our table attended to us. The service was too notch!"

  • "The mac & cheese ball appetizer was cold in the middle. My filet mignon was ordered medium rare but came out medium well. The rest of the meal was not bad, just not great. The server did a walk by to ask how everything was, but did not wait for an answer (I would have asked for a new filet). When we were finally finished, I told her about the filet. "I'm sorry" was all she said; no offer of preparing another (it was kind of late by then anyway), complimentary dessert, nothing. We will not be back."

  • "My family always dines here when in town. The atmosphere is lively, food is good and the wait staff is always friendly and accommodating. It's a fun place with live music (always great) and has a great beach town feel. Love the valet parking!"

  • "We had the BBQ ribs and veggie sandwich, and both were very good. Our dinners, incuding the sides, demonstrated attention to detail by the chefs. We sat in the bar area, which was lively but not too loud. Our server was excellent! We recommend Blu Que and will dine here again."
    Dined on 3/6/2014
  • "Wednesday is lobster night and they were cooked to perfection. All the lobster you can eat and they keep bringing them out! Service was great and the staff very energetic. The duo sang and plAyed my favorite music and was not loud even though we were right next to them. The only problem was they had raised the price and still advertising the old price."
    Dined on 3/5/2014
  • "We eat at the Blu Que on a regular basis. We try to get there by 6pm so we can enjoy happy hour....1/2 price drinks and appetizers, before dinner. The meals are good and filling. A couple of our favorites are the baby back ribs, fish and chips, and bleu chesse slaw. They have a special each week night. Wednesdays is all you can eat lobster! Live music while you dine is a bonus! I'd definitely put this on my list of places to eat while visiting Siesta Key!"
    Dined on 3/5/2014
  • "While I loved my rack of ribs, this restaurant was not a good choice to catch up with old friends, as the live music was incredibly loud and made conversation difficult. Good music, but maybe if volume were a little lower I'd have enjoyed this siesta key restaurant enough to want to return. We did eat outside, where the music was playing, and that was our mistake. Perhaps eating indoors would have been better. 3 of the four of our group enjoyed the ribs. The sweet potato waffle fries were very good. And the mashed potatoes were surprisingly tasty while also not loaded with butter and cream or milk.nice though small portion of roasted veggies. My husband said his salmon was stays but I thought it was a small portion."

  • "We took my father for his birthday. They had music which was too loud. You could not talk at the table. Parking was very difficult. They advertised a private lot but it was full and so was the valet parking. The ribs sand chicken were very flavorful but the food arrived cold. Would like to try it agin but for lunch not dinner."

  • "The 2 for $30 Maine lobster w sides was wonderful. Absolutely loved it. Their all u can eat specials are great for big eaters."

  • "A good time was had by all. Watching my 92 year old mother dig in to the lobsters was priceless. We will return."

  • "Our 3rd Wednesday $35.00--all you can eat lobster. Being from New England, our expectations are very high. The creamy New England clam chowder first course is delicious--as good as any we've had in Maine! Then 2 Maine lobsters served on a tray with sides--helps contain the mess! They paced the servings of the subsequent lobsters very nicely--just a slight pause in between lobsters to catch your breath. One of us had the very generous serving of shrimp taco and pronounced it very good. Tho very busy, they still managed to serve us in a timely fashion. Poor me--other friends want to go for the lobster, so I'll have to go again in the near future!! PS--don't wear a good blouse or shirt--this is down and dirty lobster eating--even with a bib!!"

  • "Neighborhood gem located in Siesta Key Village with open air booths, live music, and a unique combination of BBQ and fresh fish. The chicken wings with an Asian sauce are among the best wings we have had. Their smoker for chicken, beef, and pork yields a tasty, but moist, main dish or appetizer. This is a flip flop territory, so save your tux and gown for a different restaurant!"

  • "We went specifically for the all you can eat lobster and we weren't disappointed. Eric, our waiter was very friendly and did a great job, as did the rest of the staff. I have already recommended the Blue Que to several others."

  • "This is a fun informal place to grab a meal when you are in an upbeat mood and hungry for tasty treats. We were a tough group to please with 2 food professionals but we finished meal satisfied with the ambiance, service, location and enough options to find something interesting. Loved Bluslaw. Will remember that."

  • "My husband does not like green peppers (or the other colored sweet ones). He ordered shrimp and grits (not a meal usually having peppers) . His bowl was nearly 1/2 full of peppers (a cheap alternative to shrimp!). Also the shrimp that were there still had their tails on. Now how is one supposed to remove the shrimp tails when they are embedded in a soupy mixture of grits and peppers. He was not happy. My meal of vegetables and linguine was just OK."

  • "BluQ is in the heart of Siesta Key's village of shops and restaurants. On busy beach days, be sure to make reservation. We loved the ribs--falling apart and full of smoky flavor. Blue cheese slaw was a bit strong for our taste. Service a bit slow, including finding no one at check in desk for several minutes after our arrival. A bit of energetic attention to service would help match the experience to the high quality food. Live music was too loud to have any conversation, so ask to sit inside if you plan to talk."
    Dined on 2/6/2014
  • "our reservation was for 6:30 and they were already out of the prime rib special. This is their weekly special and none to be had. They were also out of one of their menu side dishes, mashed potatoes. how does a restaurant run out of potatoes at 6:30pm? Food was okay, server got our checks all mixed up."

  • "Just tried this restaurant near a neighborhood where I grew up. My husband says it's his new favorite place. It's upscale BBQ with something for everyone. Our group got Pulled Pork, Pulled Chicken, Brisket and a Pasta dish. Everything was good and. We took leftovers home. Desserts were fantastic and our waiter had a very cute personality and was informative but didn't rush. We will probably be back next weekend. Also, a guitar entertainer on the deck."

  • "This was our second night in a month to go to Blue Que for Thursday Rib Night. The only reason I didn't give the food 5 stars this time was that while my ribs were fall off the bone perfect, my husband's were not quite cooked enough and he actually had to bite them off the bone. We will definitely go back! The music was great."

  • "Wow, the smoked pulled pork sandwich is was absolutely succulent and would highly recommend. We also had the best Margarita's in town. As we were approaching the restaurant, we could not believe that the aroma throughout the street was coming from this fabulous smoking Blu Que! Our waiter Greg was a delight too."

  • "My husband had the ribs and I had the pulled pork sandwich. It was good for a quick meal. Nothing unique but worked for us that night. It is nice they have music in the evenings. Beach bar vibe!"
