Great popovers, unbelievable special crab and avocado salad and delicious caesar salad. When we arrived, the restaurant was busy but our table was ready for us. Our waiter and everyone was very accommodating and helpful. Dishes were beautiful and sized to satisfy.The lobster cobb salad, the tuna tartare and the spiced swordfish were absolutely delish. The Certified Angus Beef (CAB) filet and the NY Steak were cooked to perfection. The peppercorn steak sauce was sweeter than we expected but definitely hot. The Key Lime Panna Cotta and the cheesecake were very nice too. We asked for a mocha, not in the menu, instead of an Espresso and we were shortly pleased. The popovers are simply delicious. They serve an entire breakfast in a large, flaky, delicious popover by halving it and then then filling it with gruyere, ham, spinach, poached egg, and topped with hollandaise. It is served with a side of bacon and breakfast potatoes. It's an absolutely delicious, savory breakfast that I would return for over and over. I do have one complaint though- we were talked into ordering one side dish each and told we needed it and that one to share was not enough. We were given a wonderful treat of pâté from the chef, then a huge popover so by the time our appetizers came we were getting pretty full. We had trouble eating our entries and neither one of us touched the side dishes. This beautiful louisiana plantation palace alike hotel (the restaurant is inside the Betsy Hotel) is really awesome. The lightning, the ambiance, and the most important, the food is excellent. Truly high quality steaks, from the best selection of nationwide producers. Impressive. They knew it was our anniversary and they sat us at a lovely table outside on the veranda overlooking Ocean Drive and even though it was a chilly night the space heater right next to our table kept us nice and warm.
Our meal began with their famous delicious popovers. We both truly enjoyed dining here and in fact, dined here again the following morning for breakfast. Not only did I show up 30 minutes late for my reservation but when I did show up my significant other and I got whisked away to our table and set up immediately. Our server was AMAZING! Her detail to presentation of everything, the way she sorted out our cutlery, wiped our mats after each section of the meal, she explained everything to us very well and performed the entire thing with grace and a smile! The steaks amazing, side dishes just ridiculous (BBQ Corn and Jalapeño Mashed Potatoes to die for!), drinks strong and delicious! Everything is perfect and the food stands out as classic and innovative at the same time. The servers pay attention to every detail and the ambience is seductive. Do not miss the "sides" which are unique and taste sensations. Also the beef dishes come with their famous popovers for which I guarantee you will ask for the recipe.
