The crab cakes had lots of real crab in them and had a good texture. Either the cakes or the sauce were a bit spicier than I like them.
The onion rings were a bit doughy.
The ambiance is western contemporary. This is pretty neutral, but the dining room is a large open room which doesn't lend itself to intimacy. Oddly, the do not have blinds in the west windows, so they were unable to block the setting sub from shining directly in my eyes. And the chairs are terrible; maybe the booth seats are better.

Wagyu Carpaccio off the blackboard menu was amazing! Hamachi, burrata, and bacon are all great choices as well.
Steaks, from the dry aged ribeye, to the NY strip and filet, are always perfectly prepared. My favorite being the Wagyu top cap w foie gras butter, truly a tastebud overload!
We never steer away from the gnocci topped with a scoop of fresh parm, or the jalopeno mashed potatoes.
Of course they never let us leave without eating 2 desserts. Apple pie and Crepe soufflé always bust my belt!

Ladies ordered off the restaurant week menu. Guys ordered off the regular menu. Cowboy Killer Manhattan are great. Popovers and Pate are excellent. Steaks were served hot. We arrived early for our reservation and were seated immediately, at a quiet table on the patio which I highly recommend. During sunset, a beautiful backdrop - overlooking Camelback Mountain. Our server, Sam, was very friendly, knowledgeable, and had just the right amount of refinment to set the tone for our dinner. Jennifer, the sommelier was wonderful as well. They both guided us through the menu with personal suggestions and were not shy about sharing their favorites. Service overall was perfect. Our steaks were more done that we ordered, the popovers also seemed a little over-baked. The BLT Steakhouse is a beautiful restaurant with outstanding food and service. The staff was very professional and attentive. The BLT has one of the most extensive wine list I have even seen. We opted to sit outside, surrounded by flowers and cacti, with stunning mountain views. The restaurant is trying to be high end, but since it is at a resort, it also conveys a casual feel. These two tendencies are not well reconciled, but they should be. The service is a bit too casual for a restaurant of this caliber. We were not approached by a sommelier (maybe there isn't one?). General Manager Mr. Kent graciously escorted us to our table and made us feel generally welcomed on what appeared to be a very busy evening. My Filet was prepared accordingly and my guest had the biggest Porterhouse I have ever seen, it was cooked perfectly! My first experience with popovers and they were truly AMAZING.
