Diner Reviews
  • "Made reservation late but when we arrived table was ready - seemed as though servers were a bit out of step with kitchen as the courses really came out on top of one another. Roasted beet appetizer needed more gorganzola - Filet perfectly cooked : rib-eye was a bit tough / frites excellent - creamed spinach wonderful - asparagus very tasty - wines overpriced but it is nyc - no room for dessert but their after dinner palate cleaner was fantastic. Overall a great dinner almost perfect. Recommend it highly."

  • "They got everything wrong.I ordered vodka, very little ice and a splash of cranberry. It tasted like a cherry Popsicle it was so loaded with everything but vodka. Waiter wasn't happy with my asking for a new drink. We ordered steak well done, 40 minutes later it arrived med rare. The baked potatoe wasn't cooked through and was freezing cold. Horrible attitude on the part of the waiter, rushed us to order then was nowhere to be found when we needed him. Best part of the meal was the popovers and when we were leaving. Take your money elsewhere"

  • "Professional greeting by hosts upon arrival. Immediate seating honoring our reservation. Immediate service with menus and drink orders. Given time to review the menu. Appetizers and dinner started flowing in a reasonable amount of time. Meat was cooked as requested - medium, medium rare and one well. Ribeye, NY strip, and short ribs were great choices. Two of our party enjoyed the Branzino fish. Sides were very good, asparagus, fries, au gratin potatoes, mushrooms, but creamed spinach needed less salt. Service was attentive through the meal but -my pet peeve - I would like the server to take my payment and return with change or the credit card receipt, don't ask if I will be needing change, I know to leave a tip."

  • "Great food, great big prices! Although super expensive, I cannot wait to return."

  • "Everything we had was outstanding. The only criticism is that the back of the restaurant under the blackboard is so packed with tables it made what was otherwise an awesome dinner uncomfortable at times. The staff literally had to pull out the tables to let people into their seats. This could probably be solved simply by removing one two seater table. There is nothing like an adult having to ask for help to get up and go to the bathroom. Keep in mind I am not a large man (5'10" 195 lbs). That being said, the bone in NY Strip (rare) was possibly the best steak I have ever had in my life. Everything was cooked perfectly from the lobster cobb salad and pork belly app (on the specials menu) to the Steaks which both my wife and I had."

  • "BLT Steak was great! The filet I had was perfect, although I wish they offered a smaller size than just the 12 oz., which is too large for me. My husband had the dover sole and was full as well. Portions are very generous, so come with an appetite! I did add to my OpenTable reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary. We were surprised with some small sweets on a dish with Happy Anniversary written on it. A nice touch to a splendid dinner."

  • "WE went in family and we enjoyed. For the beginning, the special popovers warm are really delicious. And the main course is very good. We spent a very good moment"

  • "Lunch time noise difficult, but as people left, much better. We were even offered a table larger than we needed because the noise might not have been so bad. We declined, not wanting to take away seating that would be better for others. Lunch fare was ok. Service fantastic! and the buns ...wow! We didn't choose the higher priced steaks for which I would guess the restaurant is noted. I had the lobster cobb salad. It was just good, because the lobster was very chewy. Another party had the steak lunch special. He said the fries were the best part. The hamburger I was told was great. I would go back."

  • "The filet was awesome. Dover sole was also very good. Made a mistake on bringing the wrong appetizer. Service was spotty. Overall very good though."

  • "Hen of the Woods mushroom? Unbelievably delicious! I've never seen that on a menu and it is so yummy. Our hangar steak was outstanding. My girlfriend and I shared it and it was plenty. Great wine list with a few you rarely see on a menu. And did I mention the warm donuts for desert? Yum."

  • "The food, service and ambiance was awesome. I have been to many steakhouses and this is one of the best. The potato skins were incredible!"

  • "Things have changed at BLT steak! Loud drum and bass music dominate the restaurant now which results in everyone needing to shout...this was the case last Saturday. Food was good, but two steaks were cooked incorrectly."

  • "BLT is always consistently excellent in both food and service. One our favorite steak houses in the neighborhood."

  • "We were celebrating our son's 10th Bday and it was outstanding! We had the Filet, BY Strip and Lobster tails and they were simply spectacular! My first time ordering Lobster there and I was beyond impressed! Highly recommend trying it! And of course the Popovers were to die for as usual! When you eat food like this it does not matter the price you pay, it is most defintely worth it, once in a while! Looking forward to coming back!! And thanks to our server who did an excellent job!"

  • "Not what I expected. When we walked in, it looked small and crowded, but we eventually got used to the noise. The service was excellent, the food great. Only thing is trying to fight your way through the crowds of serving staff moving about with food trays while you get to the restrooms. It was a crowd on Saturday night, but luckily we went early enough and finished earlier than the crowd waiting to be seated."

  • "The popovers are great, arrived warm and given a recipe card to take home. The appetizer we tried were the shrimp cocktail and I would give it and the desserts, peach cobbler and lime cheesecake 5 star rating. However I do not think the Waguyu ribeye steak was what they claimed. I ordered it medium well and it arrived chargrilled outside and bloody when I cut into. This wAs very disappointing. My husbands less costly steak had much more flavor and tenderness. The staff was professional and attentive."

  • "If you're looking for a great steakhouse in NYC, you got it ! First of all, if you're there a bit in advance, do not overlook their home made cocktails, which are the best way to wait for your table. Then, you seat, you order and the shows begins. It begins with their popovers which are absolutely terrifc ! The only issue is that you want to eat the whole thing, knowing that you will miss some precious room for the dish. I personnaly had the Porterhouse, which was awesome, perfectly cooked. I recommend mashed potato truffle as side order and the waiter made a nice suggestion by adding some vegies as well. Wine list is very good and my only regret is to not having tested the deserts. Next time I will, for sure !"

  • "The service was some of the best my husband and I have experienced in NYC. Not only was our waiter outstanding but the rest of the staff were also very attentive without being intrusive. The popovers were an expected touch and delicious! The steaks was very tasty as were the 3 mustards we chose to go with it. "

  • "My college age daughter loves to go to lunch here when she is home from school. It has become a tradition and we always order the same dishes. This week the service was sub par because they were very understaffed, although the waiters and manager were very apologetic and gracious. The food was not up to the normal standards and we were starved after waiting so long to be served. The tuna tartare tasted a bit off and the chopped salad had no flavor. When I mentioned something, the salad was taken off the bill. But, a disappointing stop at a place we generally enjoy so much. I guess every place has an off day, but, unfortunately, we will remember this one."

  • "Having enjoyed BLT Steak on other occasions and in multiple locations, they are definitely a good chain with great menu options. However, this particular meal in New York was not up to usual standard, mainly due to poor service on the night. "

  • "The quality of the food at BLT Steak is outstanding -- I've had both sirloin steaks and the lamb rack and all were excellent. The starters and sides are also very good; my appetite has never made it to desert. The only negatives -- it's fairly noisy and quite expensive."

  • "TyAn hour's wait for a booked table is offside. Service freindly and attentive. Steaks were great and seafood platter too. Broiled lobster a bit overcooked but masses of it. "

  • "There are a plethora of great steak houses in NYC. BLT just always seems to be slightly better. Best popovers in NYC -- and enjoy the giant salt shakers to flavor them, too. Complimentary pate starter is a novel and delicious twist. And the steaks just cannot be beaten -- savory, exceedingly flavorful, cooked to perfection. You will not be disappointed."

  • "My husband and I were not impressed with the seating arrangements at BLT steak. We had an early reservation for 7pm and we were placed in a two table seat smack dab next to another couple. There were plenty of open seats that would have allowed us to have some dining privacy. We could hear every word the couple next to us said. In the future when the restaurant is slow, sit guests with their dining experience in mind. The liver jam was gross. "

  • "The highlights: The Good: Seated quickly, most food delicious (LOVE their potatoes au gratin) Not so Good: Crowded atmosphere (tables only inches apart). Had a man's butt in my face as he struggled to get out between tables. Service Slow and somewhat inattentive for a nicer restaurant. My Filet was extremely overcooked and almost inedible. My server did not return to our table to check on our dinner after it was delivered. I had to flag down a manager after waiting 10-15 minutes. Cooked well the second time around but by the time I received it the balance of the meal was eaten and my husband had to just sit there while I ate bite after bite of steak with no remaining sides for balance. Overall I was disappointed with my experience."

  • "Excellent service from reservation confirmation to hostess and dinner service. We were quickly seated at our scheduled reservation time. Dinner service was attentive but not overwhelming. Our primary server and assistants worked together to provided a well coordinated dinner service. The food was excellent. Steaks and veal chop entrees were perfectly cooked and presented. Costly but worth the price. We would definitely return and recommend to others."

  • "From the moment we arrived and were treated to house made pate with toasts, I knew this place was about the details. We knew we would get a great steak - after all, "steak" is in the name, but it was the extras that won over our loyalty. From the gigantic popovers with a tiny recipe card nestled between them to the creative and equally delicious sides, we are hooked! Our steaks were perfectly cooked - I had the generous filet and my husband tried the aged ribeye - enough for three, really! We noticed most tables splitting the steaks. And although we declined dessert, we were brought four tiny dessert bites that were JUST the right amount of sweet at the end of our amazing meal, and complimentary. And service: IMPECCABLE. We'll be back"

  • "I had never been before and read that BLT Steak was the #2 steak place in all of NYC so thought we would try it. First disappointment for a champagne only drinker was that they were out of the "reasonably" priced bubbly at $19 per glass and the next one was (albeit a great champagne) $32 a glass. I am sorry but that is a bit high for one glass. We ended up with a bottle of something French for $107 which came out WARM and it was at least half an hour before cold enough to drink. We loved the appetizer fois gras spread that was complimentary. My steak was good but really too rare (be sure to check the scale before ordering), my ceasar salad OK. The real treat was the popovers! My friend's duck was also good. I would return but know more now."

  • "The service was excellent: The meals were served simultaneously at our table of seven. The table was cleared in a flash at the end of the meal. The Duck Mousse reminded me of my late mother's liver pâté - it was wonderful. The Tuna Tartare was excellent My Waygu steak was superb. My wife's veal chop was excellent. My sister and nephew shared the 22oz Rib Steak with bone marrow. They sang its praises. My older daughter's Filet Mignon was fantastic. My younger daughter's skirt steak was fantastic. After the steak she had the Passion Fruit Souflé and summed up the evening stating: "This was the best meal of my life!" "

  • "Ive been to other BLT restaurants before. If you're a meat lover, this is a must try, although kale salad with pomegranate seeds has been one of the best I've ever tried. Burger with blue cheese had a perfect balance of flavors, meet was juicy, medium rare and delicious. the mountain of crunchy fries (that i could not finish) was a perfect complement to the rest of the meal. The lunch was pricy, however worth every juicy mouthful. "
