Diner Reviews
  • "I was very impressed with BLT Prime. I shared a rib-eye steak done MR as requested. The potato skins were awesome. Not just skins but with bacon bits and cheese. Yummy!! We started off with a great Caesar Salad made from the heart of the Romaine, crispy and crunchy. The Caesar dressing was also excellent. I suggest two share the order as the salad was enormous. For dessert, nothing exotic, but the fruit was fresh and prime. The wine was reasonably priced. Don't let me forget to mention their signature Yorkshire Pudding. It comes out hot in a bread basket with the receipe attached. A really great touch. "

  • "We were here for a birthday celebration and it couldn't have been better. The hostess made us feel special and welcome; gave us a corner romantic seat and complimentary desert wine after our meal. The rest of the staff was also perfect, always making sure we were comfortable and the food enjoyable. The food was out of this world, cooked to perfection. We got the bacon (served with scallions, yum), Rack of Lamb, Cowboy, and Truffled mash potatoes. Can't go wrong though, and as everyone says, the popovers are amazing. Would definitely recommend."

  • "Great service, great food, only complaint is me and my date ordered med - well filet migeon's and hers came out perfectly cooked but mine was totally undercooked ...other than that the dinning experience was great."

  • "I've eaten at other BLT locations and have to say, this wasn't one of the better times. The restaurant is really loud. My steak was cooked correctly, but the temperature was barely warm. It seemed like it sat for awhile before it got out to me. The hen of the woods mushroom is one of my favorite things and a big reason why I like BLT. It was really salty. I would have sent it back but by the time my waiter came back to check on my food it was so late I blew it off. I'm sure I'll go back and give them a second chance, but for the cost of the meal I expected more."

  • "I've been to BLT Prime a dozen or so times, and it continues to be my favorite restaurant in NYC. It's loud and boisterous, and there's no where I'd rather have a group dinner. The cocktails are great, the wine list is extensive, but most importantly the steaks are perfectly aged and tender. Their steak is a close second to Lugers, but overall Prime has better food when it comes to fish, apps and sides. The vibe is also decidedly more contemporary and shiek than Lugers. Of course, Prime also serves up the ridiculously amazing popovers. I will continue to come to this restaurant until the day I die. Can't go wrong."

  • "The steaks were fabulous; I had the filet Mignot and the medium rare level was executed perfectly. The beef was juicy and tender. I was pleasantly surprised they carried some Argentine Malbecs. A very good sign about the restaurants popularity was that it was full at 930 pm on a Tuesday, when we arrived; and it didn't seem that it was just the corporate crowd out for business. The service was friendly, attentive."

  • "This place was just ok. Expected a lot more from a steakhouse in NYC but probably shouldn't have. The chief seemed more attentive to the hostesses than what was going in in the kitchen. New York strip was the toughest I've ever had and trust me I've had a ton of them at many different locations throughout the country. Filet was very tender however, but no flavor. Sides were extremly small for the price. The wait staff seemed to be very attentive to larger groups so that is a plus for the resturant. However if you, like me, are planning on a night with someone special, go somewhere more cozy and less oriented to birthday gatherings and business meetings. And hopefully with better steaks! Oh but the wait staff was very nice, so plus to that."

  • "I had dined at Prime BLT once prior, Unfortunately is was with someone that sucked all the love out of a potentially fantastic dining experience. Well, second time around is truly a charm!!!...This time, I was accompanied by someone that appreciates life's pleasures. We started at the bar, perfectly mixed drinks and the bar keep attended to all our needs. Obviously next, we worked our way to the table, now we have the pleasure of not only being attended to by the staff but pleasantly treated as to belong. The meals we ordered were based on the staffs recommendations....They hit a home run with us!!! We had...Roasted beets, shared a Cesar salad, Pop-overs, mushrooms that were to kill for!!!. main coarse: Venison, Hanger steak with sides."

  • "Went out for a night on the town with my sister and brother in law visiting from Philly suburbs. We could not have picked a more perfect place. Very comfortable, modern take on the traditional New York steakhouse. We were very relaxed and service was outstanding. We were treated like royalty . The right level of formalness from the staff mixed with a friendly vibe that made us feel like we were special and they were doing a job that they really loved. Good food, good wine, a very nice evening out."

  • "Service is relaxed and welcoming. Also lot of knowledge about food they serve. Some little timing mistakes with food and wine serving, not much, but not perfection. Starters innovative, good looking, and tasting good. Houses bread gives a smile on your face, and takes its place in your memories. And also tastes good, as warm bread with butter usually do. Ordered a portethouse steak. Brilliant meat, grilled to pure perfection. Sidedishes not so innovative, but very tasty anyway. Winelist is remarkable, only needs few more reasonable priced bottles. Plates should be much more warmer, almost hot. Maybe it was just a rush mistake, i only have one experience, so can´t tell. I would definately come back, and also recommend for friends."

  • "My husband took me to BLT Prime for my birthday and it was an excellent choice. The staff were personable and attentive, without being overly so. The apps, main dishes and desserts was all delicious. I would highly recommend dining here."

  • "This restaurant exceeded my expectations!! The service was amazing! The staff was very attentive and the ambience of the dimly lit restaurant was great. Although tables were super close, we weren't the least bit affected by the noise around us. It was still very cozy. Got there earlier than my reservation, and was promptly seated. The food was amazing, and the treats before and after our meal(s) were just as great. Although pricey, the bill was less than I expected, and well worth every penny spent!"

  • "The food is great both as to quality and taste, as well as perfectly prepared. The ambience is classy, energetic and just right. Service is professional, personal but not overbearing. So in a word --a perfectly designed and run steakhouse. Kudos! we all had a great evening, and walked out pleased."

  • "This most recent experience at BLT Prime was not as superior as my last visit. Everything was good, but there was little about the meal that went beyond that. Filet was cooked well, but the mushroom caps were mushy and undistinguished. Crab cake appetizer was served just barely warm. Our waiter was fairly attentive, but it seemed like he was speed skating--a quick "How is everything?" and off he went. I will wait a while before I consider returning."

  • "Everything was very good at BLT. It's not the best steakhouse in Manhattan, but definitely deserves its position in the top tier. The service was particularly good. The porterhouse for two isn't really big enough for two though."

  • "From soup to nuts this is hands down the best steakhouse dining experience in New York City. With something for everyone on the menu, this restaurant boasts top notch service beginning with the hosting and managing staff down to the friendly and knowledgeable staff. I knly wish they put Brussels sprouts back on the menu which I understand was just taken off three days ago due to seasonal issues. I go here at least once a week and have never had a bad experience. Try it yourselves and trust me."

  • "This was the best overall dining experience I've had in my entire life. The staff was so friendly, and the service was just above and beyond all expectations. On top of that, the food was excellent. Our favorite part of the meal was actually the popovers served at the beginning - totally unexpected and amazing. We will absolutely be coming back."

  • "Once again the BLT empire continues to impress. Our dinner experience was most memorable. One of our dining companions flew in late and came right to the restaurant and they happily stored his luggage while he dined with us. Top notch food!! Great wine list. We'll be back."

  • "Great food and service but over the top expensive. Wine is marked up 5 or 6 times over cost. You can't eat here regularly or you'll go broke."

  • "I went there for the second time and the food was amazing. My steak was overdone at first but the manager came out to see us and fixed the situation with a brand new steak. They even comped us on the dessert! Service was great and the food was excellent. Only thiing we weren't too happy about was the location of our table in the corner of the restaurant. Other than that, nothing to complain about."

  • "BLT Prime was our go to for years but sadly, we will be moving on. Service was good but the waiter gave is te wrong side. We found the steaks overdone. My rare was medium rare and my husbands black and blue was medium rare. He sent his back and it came back the right temp but very over seasoned. The sides were over seasoned as well. We were treated well and apologized to but it is time to try another steakhouse. Far too expensive to leave do dissatisfied."

  • "Having had a recently disappointing experience at a "legendary" steakhouse, I had moderate expectations about my first experience at BLT Prime. It ended up being one of the best dining experiences of my life. The service was impeccable (our server's name was Tim), and the food was absolutely delicious. The complimentary chicken liver pate and the gruyere popovers alone would make me come back in a heartbeat. The steak was perfection as were the sides."

  • "I've been to this restaurant multiple times and have never been disappointed. We happened to go on BLT's 10th birthday, where various items were heavily discounted. In many similar cases with other restaurants, the food quality suffers and the service is subpar. Not at BLT Prime. The food was just as good as usual and service was especially great. Highly recommend."

  • "but that is the best I can see for BLT Prime. We opened the meals with margaritas and were shocked by the $17 sticker. This was just a regular margarita, and OK as far as drinks go. The steak was prepared well - they got the order perfect ! The sides were a disappointment - the portions were really small, but the price was really large. The waiter was OK until dessert - he pestered us a few times about ordering something - but there was nothing new or exciting on the dessert menu. We felt the meal overall was rushed. We have been to almost every steak house in Manhattan (going back to 1999), and sadly this one is not on the repeat list."

  • "I've gone to BLT Prime several times and always enjoyed the food and service. Saturday night we went to celebrate my sons birthday and although the food was still very good the service was not. The restaurant is very expensive but we enjoy it so we don't mind but I expect better service for the high prices they charge."

  • "one of the best restaurant in NY. if you a meat lover this is the place for you. I have tried quite a few other steakhouses in NY but by far this is the best one. everything was spatular from the sides the appetisers and the meat!"

  • "I have been to this restaurant several times since it's in my neighborhood. Honestly the food and service is inconsistent. This most recent time was not so great. When our steak came it was not sizzling hot as in the past. I think it was sitting in the kitchen too long waiting to be served. Also our cocktails, ordered before appetizers, came to the table after our steak was served. This was way too late. Maybe this was an off night since I have had better experiences in the past."

  • "Excellent venue, well laid out and nice dim lit ambiance. Food was great, they served a liver pate with bread compliments of the chef ( I hate pate but LOVED it!!!) both our medium well stakes were more medium, however Tim, our waiter rushed them back and it came out a few minuets later sizzling. They serve what they call a bread named popover, anyone from the UK will recognise it as a heavy Yorkshire pudding (a big one) but...very well made. No complaints, enjoyed the experience and have to say that Tim (our waiter) made the evening, he's a credit to the place!"

  • "Went there with my boyfriend to just get away for a night out in the city. He had the cowboy (rib eye) with creamed spinach.. I had the short ribs (amazing sauce and falling off the boy with tenderness) with truffled mashed potatoes (yummmm). The food was incredible! Definitely try the grilled bacon..The crab cake was also very good and light with a citrus flavor to it. Our waitress was extremely friendly and attentive. Another bonus...they give you ample time between servings; just enough time to digest without having you feel like you are starving again. I didn't feel rushed which was also a plus. Thank you for making our evening special. Would definitely go back again!"

  • "I was excited to make it to BLT Prime. Sadly Disappointed - It wasn't bad, it just wasn't good. Staff - hostess was nice & seated in 5-10 min great for friday night. waiter (working there for 8y we overheard) like a deer in headlights. Ordered 2 dark&stormies -the caveat if the bartender couldn't make them, we'd have 2 mojitos. He returned with one of each. Veal Cheeks - tender but stringy. not as flavorful as I'm used to Hamachi Crudo - very good, always is everywhere if fresh Steak - 21day Porter for 2. I've had better, at a dinner. Really. Not tender like aged steak should be. Flavorless. I ordered rare - it was more to the medium end. ( I prefer EU temps Rare - 130deg) And that stupid milk can salt shaker - please get rid of that."

  • "Amazing- how can a bone-on ribeye be so tough? A filet with no flavor at all? A dozen oysters included one bad one- always an unpleasant experience. The "truffled mash potatoes" were like soup. Very disappointing overall. A manager actually apologized to us for the dinner taking so long to arrive, which was a plus- our waiter didn't seem to care."

  • "Our party of four had high expectations of BLT Prime. We had dinner at the restaurant located on E. 22nd St. in Manhattan. The grilled bacon appetizer was greasy. The rib eye was not prepared quite right. One diner had wanted in very well done (no pink inside), but it indeed had traces of pink. He choose to keep it rather than send it back. The staff was overly attentive to a fault. Overall everyone thought the food was overpriced for the lower quality received. In the same price range, but certainly better, is the Benjamin on 41st St."

  • "My friends and I have been interested in BLT Prime for years. We also saw a specific show "the Best Thing I Ever Ate.." episode that piqued our interest. The BTIEA items were the puff pastries... average, and the tuna tartare, which was actually nice. The grilled bacon tasted like Canadian Bacon barely moved over the grill... The sides were very average... the potato skins were stuck together and cold, the onion rings were greasy... But the worst sin was the quality of the beef... Two of us had the Filet, what should be in texture silky... but no, it was tough... The Cowboy Prime Rib Eyes were some of the worst rib eyes that I have ever encountered. I read that BLT Prime was hit and miss..this was a miss Wednesday, 19 Feb 2014 "'""
