Diner Reviews
  • "Took my boyfriend here for his birthday - our first time here. He loves steak so we were excited to try it. The location is beautiful and spacious. You do not feel cramped at all. The service is top notch. Everyone is exceptionally knowledgeable, even with the wine where they were very respectful about making sure you stayed in the dollar range you wanted to and didn't push expensive wines on you. Two words - pop overs!!! As for everything else we ordered - OUTSTANDING!!! Most importantly, they were great about my food allergies. I suffer from a tremendous amount of food allergies and everyone worked with me so I was safe and still had an incredible dining experience. Can't wait to go back! Did I mention the popovers?"

  • "Everything was good just not great or exceptional. For the money there are much better steak places in NYC. The popovers they serve were a highlight."

  • "One of my favorites in NYC. Food is amazing! Cocktails are great. They give you popovers at the start of the meal which are so delicious."

  • "the dining experience would be even better if there were more space in between tables."

  • "Doesn't matter what you order - it's all about the popovers--huge, warm, bread muffins, served to you before you order with butter and a shaker of salt. We could have had just the popovers and a drink and would have been very satisfied - yummmmm!! Entrees were good, salads were ordinary. But those popovers.........."

  • "Had a great evening at BLT. Food was awesome, service was impeccable (Jake was our waiter!). We'll definitely be back!"

  • "Ambience was a problem. They have a dimly-lit room (so it seems to be aimed at a romantic atmosphere), but the music was so loud that patrons had to yell to be heard, which increased the sound level to unbearable levels. It was so dark, we used iPhone flashlight to see the menu. Food was ok, but too expensive for steaks. Service was poor, the waiter - ok, but other wait staff asked "Are you still working on that" (Not expected at an "upscale" restaurant) Also got the feeling that they wanted us out ASAP. Wine list was horribly expensive. We've eaten at 3* restaurants in France (Michelin guide) with more reasonable wine lists, and probably better. Much improvement to be made. Didn't have dessert, but prices were reasonable."

  • "Had dinner with my kids and the 3 of us had a thoroughly awesome meal. Bacon; oysters; Porterhouse for 2; strip steak; creamed spinach; onion rings; fries and of course dessert and of course cocktails. I have eaten at many of the top steakhouses and the Porterhouse here was off the hook tasty and cooked to perfection and seemed to be thicker than I have had before. The bacon was superb as were the desserts. I did not find the food over salted as others have noted. Recommend this restaurant highly."

  • "the overall meal was good but the food was over salted, the side dishes were so salty we could not eat them"

  • "Porterhouse for two was excellent. cooked perfect tasted great, not much to eat for Vegetarians, which i forgot two of our guests were that we were with."

  • "I had dinner with clients at BLT Prime and the overall experience was good but the restaurant failed to impress when it came to cooking the meat. We had a table for 5 and 3 of the 5 orders were undercooked: The hanger steak, The rack of lamb and the ribeye. My hanger steak came cooked medium rare to rare despite my specific instructions to the server that it be cooked medium. The meat was tender and flavorful, but I could only eat the end cuts. The server (who took his time to stop by the table after the main dish was served) offered to send it back to the kitchen but by that time it was too late as everyone at the table was close to finishing their meal. The steak tartare was, however, fantastic and so were all the other apps we had."

  • "Great service and perfectly prepared cuts of meat...consistently a top NYC choice for me."

  • "Baked potato was not fully cooked. Steak and short ribs were excellent."
    Dined on 7/14/2014
  • "Very loud, unpolished server continuing to upsell everything course. My ribeye was VERY fatty, so much so I couldn't eat it, took it home and in the light of day it was "all" fat. I wouldn't consider any of the "prime" sisters based on this."

  • "Food was delicious. Service was awesome. Food came out really quickly."

  • "Space between tables was not enough considering the caliber of the restaurant and cost of the meal."
    Dined on 7/5/2014
  • "The quality of the steak including the seasoning and the expected tenderness and flavor was lacking."

  • "Food was great at BLT Prime. Waiter was very knowledgeable about all aspects of our meal. It has been said before, but my favorite part was the popovers!"

  • "Great food and device but it's a cold boys club that doesn't welcome we linen or couples. It's a great restaurant that needs to be redecorated badly and have more female staff. Literally only 3 women in the entire restaurant."

  • "I had the Kobe boneless ribeye steak and it was amazing! The prices are on par with manhattan restaurants and the food is worth every penny."

  • "I haven't to be BLT Prime in 3 years and it wasn't nearly as good as I remember. We started with the oyster appetizer, which were very good. I ordered the NY Strip - while it was seasoned to perfection, it was over cooked. I like a rare steak and it was medium rare with a warm center. My friend order KC rub bone in strip. It was not good. She asked for medium rare and it was medium well with a hot center. Very disappointing. We got the mashed potatoes and aspargus for sides, both very good. For dessert - the donuts were delish, the peach cobbler was a miss... The service was average - took awhile to get anyone's attention and I never really did figure out who was our waiter/waitress - maybe they do it by committee now."

  • "Veal Chop is terrific as is the Dover Sole. Save room for dessert. Wine list will meet all expectations."

  • "First visit, best NY Strip I've had in years. Excellent attentive and accommodating service. Wife not meat eater. She had chicken which was excellent. Will definitely return."

  • "Look, this is a first class restaurant, no question. My only problem was/ is there is just too much food and little opportunity to order something less than a gigantic steak or a huge piece of fish. The shrimp cocktail was great, the 20 ounce steak was perfect (and I ate too much)."

  • "BLT Prime has the reputation for a high end experience. What I found instead was uncomfortable seating in a pooorly designed upstairs booth, and impersonal service. So if you are a party of four, ask for a table. And be prepared for a loud dining experience."

  • "The "Cowboy" is great! The Porterhouse for 2 is great. Creamed spinach is great! Service was excellent and the waiter was knowledgeable and knew how to pair/recommend drinks!"

  • "The menu looked amazing so we booked a reservation prior to seeing a show. We were running late due to traffic and explained this upon arrival, but regardless of our timing, the service was impeccable, we were treated royally. The food was amazing, we had a filet and a ribeye. The lobster cocktail appetizer was delicious but went quickly. The downfall of the evening was having to choose what to eat ....I wanted everything. The grilled asparagus was cooked perfectly-not always the case. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great steak dinner or just a great dinner with excellent service. It truly made for a great evening. (It seemed a little noisy inside, but we ate outside, which was wonderful)."

  • "Just as good as Benjamin (maybe even better). This is a darn good steak. Had the NY Strip. Salads, sides and dessert were all top notch. Service was spot on. This is one of the Top Three steaks i have had in my life..."

  • "Highly recommended, great food, service and the presentation on those cast iron plates was amazing. "

  • "the veal chop was tasteless. It was like they forgot to season it. The famed popovers were overdone and nearly burned. The noise level was more than energetic. Very difficult to hold a conversation. Certainly not of the level of a BLT Steak we recently visited in Washington D.C. or the meal we enjoyed in Scottsdale."

  • "Had the 36 oz. porterhouse for 2, shared with my dad on his birthday. Had truffled mashed potatoes and a salad on the side and finished off with the apple crumble. Amazing!"

  • "Our experience was exceptional! There were so many delicious menu choices that it was hard to select, however my husband and I both ordered the strip steak and it was out of this world. The popovers were devine and we even left with the recipe. We do not ordinarily order dessert but felt that we had to because our meal was so delicious we knew that the dessert would be worth it-no surprise-the carrot cake was worth every bite! To top it off, as a baker of desserts, I inquired about the dessert special which was a buttermilk panna cotta. Much to our surprise, we received a complimentary dessert of the panna cotta and it was incredible. Before we left, I purchased a gift certificate for our son-in-law! Can't wait to go back! "

  • "They just kept forgetting everything. The sides were good. But I was just underwhelmed"

  • "As a restaurant that boasts its ability to prepare and serve steak, this establishment was sorely lacking. Steak came out lukewarm with a dollop of butter on top which failed to melt at all because the meat was not hot enough. The popovers, which this chain is so famous for, were also underwhelming because they were served nearly cold. All in all, disappointing."

  • "I went there with my husband for valentines day and we loved it. Went there with 2 friends 2 months later and fell in love again. Totally enjoyable. The service is beyond reproach. I used to work at Le Bernardin and I would place the service of BLT Prime equal in professionalism. The wait staff is less formal, but no less professional. I will definitely be eating there again."
    Dined on 5/15/2014
  • "We felt our food was rushed, the steak was over cooked, it was freezing in the restaurant, and they bought us several desserts as compensation without asking what we wanted. I mean, it was good. But at that price it needed to be better."
    Dined on 5/15/2014
  • "I prefer this BLT to others in the city, more intimate though still a large room. It's unsuspecting from the street but the bar scene here is quite good. I went with my boyfriend, we like red meat unapologetically. Our waiter was knowledgable and not pushy. I had the Chianti and he Malbec by the glass. Perfectly nice. The waiter came out with a complimentary Chicken liver pate that was to die for and of course their signature popovers. We only split the Tuna Tartare as I have been there before so we knew more than that was going to be a lot for us to handle. He has the Top Sirloin (first time) and I the filet. Both were cooked perfectly and the red wine sauce was divine. We had simple sides of Potato Gratin & Hen of the Woods. Amazing. W"
