Diner Reviews
  • "Plusses: Quiet room (actually a little too quiet on a rainy Monday night), very professional service, food quality generally very good (though not universally, see below). Minuses: Extremely limited menu, high prices, oysters not the freshest (especially inexcusable at these prices). Not a disaster but not a triumph either. Will not be rushing back."

  • "This is my 3rd time going here and everytime it's amazing. The food is outstanding, I had the yellowfin tuna and it was cooked to perfection. The service is very professional and attentive. And their biscuits!! I could eat only that for the rest of my life and be happy. I can't wait to go back!"

  • "Had a seafood platter that was good, although I've had even better to a lower price. The waitstaff did not seem to know much about the food and wine, but were friendly at least. Overall a very good experience."

  • "I love everything about this restaurant. I initially tried it when they were having their 3 year anniversary promotion of $3.03+ priced items and fell in love with the food and the place. It feels very romantic yet modern with the open kitchen. I love the spicy cheddar biscuits and the little recipe that accompanies it, great touch. The scallops, grilled octopus, and crab raviolis are absolutely amazing appetizers. I am not a big fan of the entrees so far, tried the green curry lobster which was okay in my opinion and the crispy red snapper was delicious but I was not a fan of the sauce, made it too sweet and I would have preferred to tasted the fresh fish more. Brussel sprouts are absolutely delicious here as well along with the wine."

  • "The steamed sea bass was best fish we have ever eaten out in NYC. The grilled fennel was a great accompianment. The cauliflower was not as good. The cheddar chive biscuits served with honey butter and sea salt were fabulous. The amuse bouches were terrific too. Also, dessert was great. They serve orange flavored cotton candy in a glass jar with all desserts! Nostalgic and fun! We had a delicious Sancerre wine with our dinner."

  • "Blown away at how delicious the grilled octopus salad and red crab ravioli turned out. these appetizers simply kicked off the start of a great evening where the kitchen's talent absolutely shown through. I appreciated the attentive staff and aside from a wobbly table that nearly cost me one Paloma cocktail, I would totally return to try other items on the menu. For a Friday evening, the upstairs restaurant seating wasn't overly crowded, which was a nice plus, as the first floor saw a more informal, louder setting. The place makes a solid Paloma but a great extra dirty martini. Congrats BLT fish. You've got talent in that kitchen!"

  • "The food was substandard in freshness and over ambitious in flavors where good fesh seafood needs to be super fresh and not covered up by odd spices or experimental combos."

  • "BLT - Fish: Our experience was very good. You must order the creamed kale and their desserts are fabulous. The service is outstanding and the main reason my experience was so positive. Their drinks are, OMG the drinks!!!! You must try the house cocktails, they're so delicious, you won't want to stop drinking (until you realize, like I did, it's Monday night and you have to work tomorrow). The chef is amazing although a little heavy handed on the salt. I will definitely be back."

  • "The evening started off wonderfully. The hostess greeted us, showed us to our table, and seated us happily. Our server was courteous and knowledgable about our menu and helped us pick out what was good. When the food came out, I was a little surprised to see that the serving size was designed for a toddler. I'm not a very large man so normally I wouldn't complain, but I left the restaurant still hungry. Not the kind of feeling one should have after paying $300 total for just 2 people. It was pretty though."

  • "Apparently I committed a serious BLT Fish crime. I proceeded upstairs without being announced. If i were not meeting a business associate, I would have walked out and enjoyed dinner somewhere else. A hostess and her guard (not sure who that guy was but he escorted me downstairs and seemed to be watching over me) should be friendly, engaging, maybe even helpful. The thing is the food and service were exceptional, but i will never ever eat at any BLT restaurant again."

  • "My two girlfriends and I meet here every month to sox weeks. We love it. They food is amazing, the staff is on their game. We always start with a cocktails and oysters at the bar before heading upstairs to 3rd floor, where we have a great dinner under a glass roof."

  • "Have been many times, but mostly on weekday nights. The food and service were great as usual, but the noise level made it almost impossible to have a conversation."

  • "We shared the Snapper for two, with a side of rice and brussel sprouts The broth had a wonderful spicy kick to it, and the fish was perfectly prepared One of the best meals I have had in a while"

  • "My husband and I have been to BLT Steak and now BLT Fish and although both experiences were nice, the food just didn't blow us away. We would not go to either again. It wasn't bad, but when you're spending that kind of money, "not bad" aren't the words you want to walk out with."

  • "My wife and I tried BLT Fish in NYC. First we tried the oysters. They were dry. Waiter said that is what we offer. Dry oysters? Well sometimes the juice falls out of the shell but they are fresh. $36 for oysters of poor quality. Next we tried the octopus. Tasted like it was cooked the day before. Awful texture, little flavor. The waiter told us this is how we serve it. Next we tried the Dover Sole and it was overcooked and bland. I told the waiter I never had Dover sole of such poor quality, he said that was how it always was. He said I can take it back but the next one will be the same. We left and decided never to go to another BLT restaurant again. Yuck and overpriced."

  • "Though we had a few.problems with the reservation service and they tried to sit us by the kitchen, the overall experience was simply bliss. From the amuse bouche, to the beurre blanc on the halibut to the cotton candy at the end of meal, everything was excellent!!"

  • "Went there with some foodie type friends and had a wonderful time. The attentive wait staff and great food are very enjoyable. My Halibut was the best I've ever had anywhere. They have novel ways of preparing their excellent quality, fresh fish. The prices are a little pricey, but the quality and gastronomic experience was worth the money!"

  • "What happened to BLT Fish? We haven't been there in a while and we were very disappointed by our most recent visit. We are crossing this restaurant off our list of old favorites. The hostesses were not friendly. No coat check. We were seating right next to the noisy kitchen. I am still not sure who our waiter was, or who I was tipping. It seemed to change throughout the evening. Service left a lot to be desired. They were out of the wine I wanted to order. I think they forgot the clams in the clam chowder!!! Aren't there supposed to be clams in clam chowder? When I made the reservation, I mentioned we were celebrating our anniversary. They never acknowledged the anniversary. We are done with this one."

  • "So a friend recommended this restaurant to me and I also asked around and got nothing but great reviews. My wife and I have 3 kids and hardly ever get to have a romantic dinner together, and BLT fish made it that much more special. I told told them before hand that it was her 30th birthday and they help me make it special for her. They sat us on the third floor right next to the kitchen, gave us complementary champagne and help us pick a great bottle of red wine from their amazing selection of wine and just catered to our every need. Plus all the food was amazing. We dined there for about 3.5 hours and just enjoyed each other's company. Can't wait to go back and make more great memories."

  • "Black sea Bass still swimming in milky sauce- won't be back anytime soon. Give me Babbo's Whole Herb and Garlic stuffed Branzino - crispy on the outside and tender and flavorful on the inside any day!"

  • "For several years, BLT Fish was our go-to restaurant in Manhattan (once per week at least). We returned this week after a six-month absence, only to discover that there is a new and unimpressive chef, that the once exceptional wait staff we knew are gone, and that the place is no longer interesting. Nothing on the menu, from appetizers through dessert, was memorable or exciting, certainly nothing to make us look forward to another visit. It's a sad end to an era, but we shall not be returning."

  • "Very delicious, especially the creative sides. Pricey overall though when two women, who even split the first course can't dine for uder $225."

  • "The fish was prefectly cooked and the presentations were beautiful and novel. Having eaten in other BLT restaurants I expected nothing less and was not disappointed. Every restaurant in the group seems to make the ordinary extraordinary. The surprise of the evening was the Cheddar Bisquits which came hot from the oven. Along with the bisquits came the recipe, though I suspect they won't be as good at home. Service was efficient and attentive, without being annoying. We ate upstairs with the advertised view of the open kitchen, though we never looked. Next time we'll try downstairs which we understand is more relaxed."

  • "This was my second visit to BLT Fish. There is such a disconnect between upstairs and downstairs - two totally differing dining experiences. Upstairs is elegant. Downstairs is more casual/clam bar-ish. Food is excellent at both. Shared both daily special "fish for two". Will be back soon."
