Diner Reviews
  • "Food was amazing and service and ambiance were impeccable. My wife spilled her wine on the table and the waiter handled it perfectly and replaced her glass free of charge. There was a great diversity of ages and types of people in the restaurant and the outdoor seating looked beautiful. Menu is varied with cheaper small plates to more expensive entrees. Would suggest this place for almost any occasion."

  • "The first night we walked through downtown Charleston it looked empty from the outside, and we thought that wasn't a good sign. By our last night in town we thought we would try it. It turns it there is actually a lot of seating - in the back! Which makes for a nice setting. The service was great, the energy was good (not too loud), and the food was absolutely delicious! Definitely a great option in Charleston!"

  • "Have meals frequently here and the restaurant is always consistently good. The salmon salad was great as usual -- the fish was a little small but cooked perfectly and there was an abundance of dressing (my dining partner gave me his side salad; I mixed his salad with mine and the dressing was still a bit too much). My friend's fish sandwich was reportedly a 10 out of 10. Service was above average but rose to outstanding due to Megan's constant efforts to fill our glasses, clear our plates and otherwise take care of us (I know Megan from a previous visit when I left my American Express card; she had someone call me and Megan graciously agreed to meet me on the street with my card). Megan is the one who keeps this place together. Bravo!"

  • "My husband, 18 year old son and I went to dinner at Blossom while visiting Charleston. We chose Blossom based on a family member's suggestion and were very pleased. The atmosphere is beautiful and the wait staff was professional and friendly. The menu options were varied and truly southern. My son loved the southern fried chicken (boneless) and the wedge salad. My husband opted for the swordfish special and was not disappointed. We shared an appetizer of fried green tomatoes with both a remoulade and some type of chutney - delicious! I decided on the short rib over mashed potatoes with glazed carrots. Although usually a winter dish, the short rib was not heavy and was so tender that I only needed to use a fork."

  • "Visiting Charleston for the first time with another couple, I picked Blossom for our first meal strictly based on Open Table and Trip Advisor ratings and a quick study of the on line menu. We were delighted. The service was friendly and professional - complicated orders for 4 taken with no notes, all served without a hitch. The pace did seem somewhat slow, but we learned over the course of our visit that slow service seems to define the Charleston dining experience. The food was as good as we could have asked for. Every item in a 3 course meal for 4 literally competed for best order. Our investment in time paid off handsomely, and we all agreed it was a place we would definitely re-visit in a city worth a return trip."

  • "Excellent experience to have Brunch at HALLs Chophouse. The service was outstanding and the food was also well prepared and taste great. The gospel music was heavenly and just the final touch to make this Brunch the best."

  • "Everyone at our table loved everything we ordered, from appetizers, to meal selections, through dessert. Our waiter was very helpful and friendly as well. Blossom always makes a great meal, and is impressive for out of town visitors."

  • "After making a b-day reservation for four 2 weeks in advance, we were shown to a high traffic table close to a patio door then were reluctantly changed to one with less in/out traffic and draft. After 15 minutes the waiter came and was abrupt and didn't smile once. Martini came with olive instead of twist and sent back. Next one tasted of olive juice with a twist! Mussels were very small and some were empty shells; the broth was nice. Caesar salad had brown pieces; mostly spines and dressing was bland. Crab cake was nice and scallops tasty. Pasta special was really starchy and tasted like flour but lobster sauce had potential. Duck was overcooked and tough. Overall, Blossom was very disappointing. Spend your time and money somewhere else."

  • "We absolutely love Charleston and all the wonderful food that there is offered. Magnolia's is one of our many favorites and Cypress is too bad either, but Blossom really fell short of good expectation. The waiter was fabulous, was knowledgeable and very attentive. We ordered suggestions, but it just wasn't any good. The Cerviche was old and chewy...the short ribs were over cooked...Just a sad day in Charleston...They need to step it up."

  • "The food was outstanding. The inside of the restaurant was very noises which made it a little difficult to carry on a conversation. Our waitress was also serving another table of about ten college age folks that were very demanding of her time, which left us waiting to order and have our glasses refilled a few times. In the end, the manager was the one that brought our check to us."

  • "Blossom and Magnolia never disappoint. Great food, great service. Two of my "go to" restaurants when I'm in Charleston. Only two negatives - VERY loud, and the recently refurbished banquette is so low my chin nearly hit the table. Either have it redone or provide booster seats for those of us under 6 feet!"

  • "Blossom is our favorite first night in Charleston restaurant. Great wood fired oven pizzas and salads. The service is always very good and the patio dining area is very nice."

  • "I took my mother to Blossom for a celebration, and we thoroughly enjoyed it! She got the ricotta gnocchi and I got the cast iron skillet scallops. Both were Small Plates options, which is a GREAT thing to offer in my opinion. I tasted her gnocchi and it was delicate and flavorful. My scallops were absolutely delicious. We shared the red velvet cake for dessert and it was both unique and delicious. Our server was helpful and friendly, and the atmosphere was elegant but relaxed. I'll definitely return to Blossom the next time I'm in Charleston."

  • "Blossom had been on my list of restaurants to try and I finally made it earlier this week. The food was outstanding; our server was delightful and I will definitely return. Also enjoyed the private parking lot!"

  • "Gorgeous day for dining on the terrace. Began with sharing come perfect calamari followed by a lovely, fresh-from-the-garden green salad, She crab soup is also a must have."

  • "After eating at a few other Charleston restaurants (Low Country Bistro, Amen, FIG), we were disappointed in Blossom. The waitstaff was average (our water glasses were empty most of the time, server interrupted conversation with the arrival of each course to ask how our food was). Aside from the shrimp and grits, the other food was very good -- especially the desserts. Our favorite was a "southern sundae.""

  • "This was my second try at Blossoms and unfortunately, I won't be going again. I had friends in town and wanted a little southern gem, so I decided to put my first experience behind me, which was an incredibly over salted meal, surely that was a fluke. But it wasn't. Again, my side dish was SO SALTY I couldn't even eat it (and I like my salt). The main dish, not a whole lot of taste. The pork tasted like the sweet potatoes which also tasted like the biscuits. My friend, who ordered the crab cakes, compared them to a low price restaurant in Mt. Pleasant and said that the Blossom crab cakes didn't even compare, they bordered on burnt and lacked substance. It was sad, I really wanted this work out."

  • "The food is very good. Really enjoyed it. The staff is friendly, but the service was slow at first. It later got better. The ambience is nice but needs to be refurbished. It is starting to look worn (rips and wear in carpet). I would definitely go back, as the fish was very good and all the ingredients very fresh. It is very casual and you see a lot of families there."

  • "We stopped in Blossom during our vacation to Charleston. The food was wonderful and we had the chefs speciality, mahi mahi, and it was wonderful. Service was great, too. We would recommend blossom to others!"

  • "Hadnt been to Blossom in over 8 years and it was as good as ever. My wife had the shrimp and grits which were excellent, flavor to die for, well prepared. I had the buttermilk fried shrimp, extremely tender, and well prepared. Started with the fried green tomato appetizer, again an excellent choice. Service was excellent, drinks were served cold and well mixed from the bar and the staff was attentive to all our requests, expecially with certainly food allergies. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent suggestions."

  • "Blossom uses fresh, local food. My dining partner's salmon was cooked to perfection. My seafood stew was good but the mahi-mahi and shrimp were overcooked and the broth was more of a rich gravy than a soup. Bread was pre-buttered - not a preference of mine. Service was very good."

  • "We had a great meal on Friday evening at Blossom! The wine list was good, the salads big enough for a meal and the trout to die for! We all ended up having the trout so can't tell you about any other entree but I'd go back just for that! Oh, and dessert was sinful. The inside of the restaurant is charming - bright, light and conducive to a good conversation as well as a good meal."

  • "My husband and I had great service and great food. We also had a Hollywood star seated next to us. Not that that was the culmination of the dining experience, but it definitely added some zing to it. Even if that doesn't happen to you the restaurant stands on it own for good food, great service and great atmosphere."

  • "We chose Blossom on the recommendation of the bell hop at our hotel. We were not looking for anything too formal with a good vibe and great food for my wife, daughter and I. We made reservations online and were seated within a few minutes of our reservation. The restaurant had a great energetic feel to it, but yet wasn't too loud that you couldn't have a normal conversation. Our server was excellent, he know how to balance good service without being a pest. He recommended the Duck, which I must say was excellent. We all had great meals and the felt that the pricing was right inline for the dining experience."

  • "We had a very nice dinner at Blossom. We made a dinner out of small plates and a pizza. The food was quite good, the service was just fine, and the dinner was not expensive. We definitely would go back."

  • "Good food served very nicely. The She Crab is outstanding and a "must." The Fried Green Tomatoes are thick and nicely fried but well, you have to like fried food, which is what this is. The Shrimp and grits was excellent in a very creamy sauce, and the Scallops and grits were even better with a tangier sauce. Best to have a reservation during the busy season."

  • "We had a wonderful time at Blossom this past Saturday. Everything from the service to the atomosphere, and of course the FOOD, was amazing. Thank you, Blossom!"

  • "We had an early afternoon reservation. When we arrived our table was not quite ready. They were polishing the tableware and pulling two tables together. Unfortunately, we were seated close to where the food was being prepared even though the restaurant was empty at that time. When we left, the restaurant was about 75% full. The food was hot and well prepared. Several in our group ordered the meat lover's pizza and commented on how good it was. They especially liked the seasonings. One in our group found the shrimp and grits to be a little too hot for her taste. The buttermilk chicken served with string beans, mashed potatoes and gravy was excellent. The only change we would have made was where we were seated."

  • "My wife and I went to Blossoms recently for our 23rd wedding anniversary. We were surprised at how "average" both service and the food was. Asked for steak cooked medium, came well-done. Told our server, she asked almost put-off, "would you like another one?" I showed how was overcooked throughout and she quickly asked again (almost as if I was wasting her time), "would you like another one?" Long story short, they did bring another steak complete with all new sides, but it wasn't anything to scream about. Not to mention my wife was long since done with her meal. Fried Green Tomatoes appetizer was EXCELLENT. May be a while before we come back which is really disappointing because our past experiences were all pretty good."

  • "Blossom was a lively, energetic Charleston restaurant! Our swordfish seviche was tasty, although seemingly thrown on the plate. Our second course came out too quickly, and the table hadn't been reset with silverware. The scallop and grits dish was good, but presentation not great. Again, sort of scooped into a small bowl, hurriedly it seemed. A flavorful small plate. Overall, a fun night with our group. Wouldn't suggest if one is looking for a quieter, more polished dining experience."

  • "Was crowded and a little loud. Suited me fine for our occasion, but not maybe for a quiet romantic evening. Good place if you take children because of the noise. Not overwhelming, just lively. Great fried green tomatoes and delicious almond encrusted flounder. Yum! Good service. Lots of folks seated at the bar. Fun evening with my daughter."

  • "At the end of a fabulous day in Charleston my friends and I had dinner at Blossom. Our meals were amazing and our server, Jan, was terrific. She was polite, friendly, and knowledgable. We all loved our entrees. The fried green tomatoes were incredible- crisp and drizzled with a sweet sauce. I had scallops which were fixed perfectly. Although we were stuffed, we tried the red velvet bread pudding. My friend loved it. I had the homemade ice cream over chocolate cake drizzled with caramel sauce- yummy! Overall, a great dining experience."
