A word from Bloor Village Grill
Bloor Village Grill is a local neighborhood portuguese eatery located in the heart of downtown Toronto serving Portuguese authentic cuisine. Bloor Village Grill is as authentic a Portuguese dining experience as you can find on this side of the Atlantic. The large space is comfortably designed reflecting its country of origin including large TVs for football coverage. The staff are welcoming and helpful. Seafood platters and fresh grilled fish dishes are the specialty of the house alongside roast suckling pig and BBQ chicken. In the heat of Summer enjoy and chill in our fully licenced Patio. It’s a slice of Portuguese life.

Not being a Toronto native, I always enjoy being surprised by a new place and one that is full of local people and not the smart set or foodie scene. Not that the Bloor Village Grill's food isn't good enough, it is. But what's lovely about it is the neighborhood feel of the place. No suckling pig though which was sad, but the terrific waiter said they only did that on Saturdays and Sundays, when I imagine the place to be jammed, hot at lunchtime, cold in the evening. The wine list is pretty much Portuguese focused and does not think about stripping a whole in your pocket, which was also nice. The wine we had was on their recommended list and was robust and well flavored, just like the people and their food in fact. Great find.

We were late arriving and the staff unlocked the doors and let us in!! We were treated exceptionally well despite out late arrival. The food was wonderful ( chicken w mushroom sauce and a seafood stew). Portuguese wine was also delicious. We went back for more the next day!! I highly recommend this establishment for the food, wine, and atmosphere. Plus our waitress was so kind and generous

  • I visited BVG on Mother's

I visited BVG on Mother's Day, and the food was spectacular. I'd like to check it out on a non-special event day; the place was incredibly busy so service was a little slow, which was to be expected, but the staff managed to take everything in stride. The value for your money is top notch -- portions were huge and big enough for sharing. Our table ordered the mushroom grilled chicken and monkfish. No complaints!

  • Great Portuguese food!

I tried the flaming sausage, bife a casa and the seafood rice and all were delicious. The food is good value with the quality and quantity you get for the price, esp the seafood rice. The ambience was better than a typical family run restaurant (they even use the blue/white porcelain plates), but the service was a bit slow. Will visit again, and will definitely be referring family and friends there.

  • - standard, homey portuguese

    - standard, homey portuguese fare. place it too big to be intimate. the plus was a duo playing music which set a nice mood. however it was overshadowed by several large screen TV's covering the restaurant with portuguese TV playing, a mix of news and soap operas. in a restaurant, really? really? like go out with people and then don't talk just watch TV. during dinner they should turn them off, but given the number of other places in the city there's no reason to return here. it may be more of a community place than destination.

My reservation was cancelled by the restaurant less than 24 hours before, not impressed as they essentially took away my plans for New Year's Eve.
