  • "My husband and I dined at Bliss on a Saturday evening. We chose to sit outdoors and enjoy the beautiful weather. For an appetizer we chose the oyster sliders. In a word SCRUMPTIOUS! I had the scallops and the hubs had the pork and beans. Both were super tasty. Even though common sense screamed.....no dessert we didn't listen and had the key lime pie. It was a wonderful experience. We can't wait to return."

  • "All the food we had here was very good, but some things were definitely better than others. We had the himachi and pork belly to starts. The himachi would get about a 2.5/5 and the pork belly a 4/5 (the fried green tomatoes and the sauce make this dish), plating on these would get a 4/5. For entrees we had the red snapper and the duck/duck/foie gras. The snapper would get a 4/5 and the duck would get a 3.5/5, the sides on both dishes would get a 2/5 (this restaurant needs a lesson in how to cook risotto). The plating on the items would also get a 1.5/5, the plated was clunky and lacked any refinement which is what I would expect at a restaurant of this caliber. We had the "pecan pie" for desert and that was the standout at a 4.5/5."

  • "I chose Bliss because it was a place my wife had been wanting to go and i wanted to surprise her for her birthday. I was successful and she had no idea. The food , service and atmosphere were outstanding. We even got to meet chef Mark Bliss himself. That was very thoughtful to take a few minuets to meet with us. The best line of the night, my wife telling me that this was a meal that she would be dreaming of the rest of her life. "

We like a quiet restaurant where we can visit with friends and this is always a comfortable, relaxed evening, sheer pleasure. The menu is always full of delights and our waiter was attentive, adorable really, and only added to our enjoyment. Bliss is one of our favorite places to take out of town visitors. We love to show off the best of San Antonio."

  • "Bliss was truly blissful. Being from New Orleans, I have had Osyters in dozens of different presentations and the osyter sliders are truly unique and absolutely delicious. The quail and pork belly entree can be described in one word, ORGASMIC. I was alone in San Antonio for business but I enjoyed Bliss so much that I am scheduling a return with my wife to experience it again. Bayona in New Orleans, Gary Danko in San Francisco and Bliss in San Antonio should all be on everyone's bucket list. Simply awesome!"

My threshold is that something either has to be so catastrophic that I feel a moral conviction to have to warn others to avoid or the event has to be so outstanding that I feel I should give of my time to state so. The later is the case in this instance. I have been to Bliss on three occasions and I am convinced that all those working at this restaurant know how to carryout the demands of working at a high end restaurant with grace, charm, warmth, sincerity and a keen attention to detail and service. The food is amazing. Yes, it is expensive, and it is worth it. The menu is diverse enough that all party members can be satisfied. Overall, exquisite. Keep up the good work!"

  • "Great food (charcuterie, soft shell crab, caprese salad and beef short ribs were amazing), great wine (can't go wrong with a 2011 Caymus cab), great service (as our group of 4 was settling down on our seats, the large party next to us unexpectedly became very boisterous (in a good way but still loud) and our super nice and knowledgeable waiter, Lico, quickly and without prompt offered us a table in a quieter area of the restaurant. He also was knowledge and made sure that our dinner was appropriately paced). Ample parking and easy to get to. Can not think of anything negative to say and I am already looking into bringing my family for Mother's Day!"

  • "It is often difficult, or even impossible to find perfection in a restaurant. Mark Bliss has definitely found perfection in his craft from his perfectly prepared dishes, to his brilliant display on the plate. Just when you think you've been impressed, Chef Bliss comes at you again with his expertly crafted desserts. The atmosphere is very calm; great for a romantic evening, or even for just a quiet night out dining under the stars (although it is technically in the downtown area, there is little to no light pollution, which makes for a perfect night on the patio. Service was top-notch. They have employed a very courteous staff who makes sure you're comfortable throughout your dining experience. All in all, you have a great place! 5 stars!"

That said, I found the qual / pork belly dish rather uninspiring. It prolly didn't help that I don't eat beans, which were featured on the dish. Alas, the waitress did her very best to steer me in a different direction. I wasnt smart enough to pick up the clue. All that being said, there's no question I'll go again. However, next time I will pay more attention to the stellar wait staff. Definitely recommended."

  • "and never let's us down. We leave an hour and a half away but that doesn't stop us. We love the food and love the great service even more. Every time we have out of town guests (most live in big cities where they get great food everyday) we bring them to Bliss and never has anyone been disappointed. My favorite meal is the Branzino, I try not to have it every time. Only comment... "the heck with the biscuits that come with the fried oyster sliders just bring me more oysters!!!" Delicious. We'll be back for sure"

  • "My wife ordered the NY Strip steak cooked medium and it was cooked well done. The cut contained a lot of fat and gristle and when cut into it was "greyish". She said the mash potatoes tasted like they were came from a box. I ordered the beef tenderloin cooked medium, it was cooked perfect. The sides the accompanied the dinner were small and the overall price ($225 including tip) was NOT worth it. By the time the waitress came back to ask us about our food our mood was already ruined and so was the celebration of our 13th wedding anniversary. Very, very disappointed in our experience."

  • "I love the ambiance & simple artistic decor. The staff - very attentive to detail and outstanding service. I found Monique to be an exquisite waitress. She is attentive to when and when not to be at the table and is charming & has a strong command of the menu. She should be asked for! The food is amazing - from presentation to flavor and aroma. The chilean sea bass is prepared to perfection with exqisite seasoning. The accompanying tomato saffron broth is delicious.The arugula & radicchio salad is fresh, delicious and beautiful. The goat & ricotta cheese crostini is wonderful. A blissful dining experience. Amazing outdoor patio. Great for a romantic & intimate dining experience, business meeting or special occasion party. Food is Bliss!"

  • "The waiter was spectacular, very energetic and very enthusiastic about the menu. Could not pick his "single favorite" item because there were so many great things. And he was right! There was a group of 6 of us picking 5 different entrees and all were spectacular including 2 people getting the Vegan Platter which had a nice variety of grain, brussels sprouts, Kale, sweet potato chips, and broccolini. The pork and beans was so tender it literally fell off the bone which lifting on the bone. The scallops were great over a bed of cheese grits. The duck breast was cooked to perfection with a nice side of foie gras. The snapper on the bed of shrimp risotto was amazing as well. Best of all it was quiet enough to have a nice conversation!"

  • "We sat on their lovely patio on a warm March evening and enjoyed fabulous food brought to us by a prompt and helpful server. I ordered the sea scallops, and my wife tried the Sea Bass. Both were delicious, as were salads and appetizers. Will have to try desserts on our next visit-which will be whenever our next trip to San Antonio happens. This was our favorite."

  • "Bliss is a nice restaurant. All the seats are good, properly facing transverse to the through passage, as opposed to many places where one person has a view and the other doesn't. Had the pork belly appetizer and the snapper with a great risotto. Diligent if not transcendent preparations. I liked what they did with kale, roasting and salting it like nori. Earthquake zin and key lime pie were great. Per glass wine prices seemed better than other places. One gripe, had to wait over eight minutes between seating and commencement of service."
