Bliss RestaurantBliss - an outstanding SA treasure! From the moment you step in the door of this Southtown hotspot, you know you are in for a special culinary experience. We enjoyed a relaxing and comfortable evening with food prepared at its best and service with attention to detail. The Fried Oyster Sliders were to die for! We can't wait to return.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMbeautiful!!My husband and I tried Bliss for our anniversary after hearing about it through a magazine review. We took our 3 abdq6-yr old daughters, who are well-mannered. They split the rack of lamb, which was delicious. The children enjoyed it as well as the adults. The restaurant greeted my husband and I with glasses of Prosecco to celebrate, which was a nice touch! Mark Bliss even came out to congratulate us, which was very thoughtful. If were a little warmer, we would have loved to eat out on the patio, which was gorgeous!!!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMNoisy but great foodBliss on Saturday night. Very busy (almost overwhelmed) but good service in spite of it all. Everyone pitched in, cleared tables. The food is excellent. We started with Charcuterie prosciutto with just the right seasoning. One of our party had the prime rib steak, perfectly cooked. The scallops were melt in your mouth, soft and buttery. Finished up with home made biscotti.
Probably would go on a night other than Saturday (and we plan to go back) but overall, well worth it.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMVery SpecialBliss is a very special restaurant. The food is always excellent, the ambience is great, and the service is impeccable. It is quickly becoming one of our favorite places in San Antonio. Mark Bliss is both hard-working and talented, and his efforts have really paid off.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMBest steakWe went to Bliss for my daughters birthday. We had the Fillet steak. Very tender, juicy and seasoned wonderfully this had to be one of the best steaks we have had in a long time. Wait staff was very polite and we did not want anything, the bread was fresh made and was great. They have a very good wine list very nice list of hors d'oeuvre.. My daughter had the Alaskan halibut it was tender and flakey as well. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone the price, was in comparison with most upscale restaurants but the food was wonderful. We spent $260.00 for a party of four. This included the tip and a bottle of wine and three glasses of another type of wine. If you're looking for a very wonderful dining Experience this is your restaurant.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMa regular spot for usOn our regular rotation. Desserts left us truly satisfied for the evening. Wine selections were adequate at all price points. Mr. Bliss clearly has a winner!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AM35th Anniversary - A Romantic MealWanted a nice place to celebrate our 35th Wedding Anniversary before heading to the Symphony. Bliss Restaurant was just right. The staff were welcoming, competent, attentive, courteous, and friendly. The menu was enticing without being overwhelming. Presentation of food was attractive and inviting. The attendants were readily available without hound dogging; a simple glance returned an appropriate response. A visit by the manager was sincere and appreciated. Complimentary flutes of champagne were a nice touch; not solicited but offered in response to our special occasion.
We will return and have already recommended it to friends visiting the San Antonio area.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMBliss was wonderful! Service,Bliss was wonderful! Service, perfect food, great atmosphere. We've loved everything we've ordered - notables: Oyster sliders (could eat 5 plates of these!) whole Branzino, Scallops entree (soo yummy). If the weather's nice, sit on their back patio near the fire pit. Lush landscaping, very pleasant. The last two times, we've had the same server, Monique, and she was perfect -- never rushed us, timed the courses well and made some great recommendations.
We can't wait to go back again.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMBliss was bliss. Food wasBliss was bliss. The service is attentive and helpful but they do not rush you. The food is very good--we have been several times and food is consistently delicious and beautifully presented---all in a wonderful setting. Love that they have their own parking lot!!! Parking can be an issue for some other restaurants in the area. The restaurant can be a bit noisy on weekends--helps to go early on a weeknight. Reservations a must---they are always busy. Highly recommend to all!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMBliss was a great restaurantBliss was a great restaurant with an outstanding staff. Food was excellent! It is rated one of the top 10 restaurants in San Antonio with good reason!4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBest egg dish I ever had.Best egg dish I ever had. We were there for Brunch. My only complaint is that we finished before the mariachis started.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBlissful at BlissWe ate at Bliss for it's inaugural brunch last Sunday. It was wonderful! It is in Southtown, an eclectic, transitional neighborhood. There were 3 separate patio areas and 2 separate eating areas inside. The bar was in a separate front room right as you walk in. Great idea! For those days of long waits, you put your name on the list and the bar is right there. Design and decor is contemporary and minimal, but light and warm. The patios are have lots of foliage and flowers. Now to the food. Our group shared Ceviche, French Toast with Fois Gras and Duck Bacon, Pork Belly, Shrimp Spring Rolls and Oyster Slides on Buttermilk Biscuits. Everything was delicious and the service excellent. Wine & Beer only, but it is BYOB & they have setups.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMMore Please...I was told about this place by a local and I always like to eat where the locals eat. Bliss did not disappoint! First try the crispy fried oyster sliders nothing like I'd had before... more please. The Thai curry coconut soup was full of lots vegetables was very good. It wasn't easy picking an entree with such a nice verity from seafood to rack of lamb. I chose the seared sea scallops with white cheddar grits, spinach a delicious avocado mousse & a mixture of cilantro-lime-jalapeno beurre blanc. I wanted to lick my plate!
Key Lime Pie... the end.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is our third dinner withThis is our third dinner with Bliss and again outstanding service and food knowledge. Definitely would eat there again next time I'm back in San Antonio.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMI really enjoyed our dinner..I really enjoyed our dinner.. The menu was diverse . I enjoy trying new things but I will admit the appetizers were not appealing. I cannot explain exactly why except the combinations did not sound good or amazing or that creative. My friend thought the same thing.
Also we split the crepe dessert and the berries did not seem as if they had been washed.
We both enjoyed our entrees. My friend loved her duck.
The atmosphere was fun. We also enjoyed seeing the lovely patio and plan to return later to enjoy an evening outside.
Good wine list!3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the share plates...aLoved the share plates...a great way to try a variety of dishes with a group of friends or on your own.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutley a wonderful eveningAbsolutley a wonderful evening of food and atmosphere. Plus easy parking!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was absolutely deliciousThe food was absolutely delicious and beautifully prepared. We had flounder with chicken-fried oysters and fallow venison.
The outside dining was charming and very enjoyable.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMService was excellent. CharcuterieService was excellent. Charcuterie and cheese plate also. Salads so-so. Wine was very good.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat San Antonio ResturantWe were impressed and we have eaten in fine resturants from NYC to Paris and a lot of fine places in between . Reminds us of the best NAPA has to offer. The food and service were superb and for a small place the wine list was impressive. Bliss is by far the best dining place we have eaten in in San Antonio and we will certainly recommend it to friends. My party of 7 all enjoyed their food. We will definitely return!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWant to be amazed??What a little gem-of-a-place! The menu was contained; there was not an overwhelming lot of "stuff" the diner had to wade through. The single page menu was quite varied; from vegetarian and seafood to hearty dishes for carnivores. (;) Desserts? Wonderful.
The presentation was spectacular; the wait-staff: pleasant, knowledgeable and VERY service-oriented. All-in-all, absolutely 'Out-Of-Sight'!!
Bottom Line: This little place is delightful! ... a definite Top-of-the-List for repeat visits.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is Heavenly BlissThe food was OUTSTANDING and will be returning for that. Our only complaint was we felt "rushed". Everything happened so quickly, which I guess some would enjoy fast service, but it felt more rushed then just good service.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBest in San AntonioThe dishes we had at Bliss were among the best (if not THE best) we've ever eaten. The beef tenderloin was expertly seasoned, perfectly cooked, and unbelievably tender. The Maine scallops were seasoned and seared to perfection. We could have eaten a whole platter of them, but the best part of the dish was the interplay between the spinach, the grits, the cilantro lime jalapeño beurre blanc and the scallops. A bite with those flavors swirling in your mouth is simply heavenly. The worst part of the meal was when our empty plates were taken away from the table, though it saved us from embarrassingly licking them clean. Finish it all off with the almond butter cake and this meal may ruin other restaurants for you.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMworth the hikeMy first time at this restaurant , what a great find ! Wow. excellent food prepared beautifully. A foodies delight. the cheese and meat choices are very good . bigger portion pecorrino truffle please ! admirable variety of wines . price as well as quality.

Great outdoor area, tables were spaced nicely and the fire pit was beautiful. The food, wine, and sever we're spot on- every bite was delicious and you could tell the chef put a lot of care into every dish. Highly recommend Bliss.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMOne Blissful Evening!Great place, great daily menu options. I would come back to try new items.
Loved the Veal Sweetbreads and Oyster Sliders. Branzino was nice, light and meaty.
Would like just a bit more seasoning or an extra lemon wrapped in cloth. The tenderloin was delicious.
Recommend the Almond butter cake with homemade vanilla gelato with passion fruit puree.
Would like to see Tanara Proscuitto di Parma served instead of San Danielle.
On the Charcuterie menu.
Our waiter was fantastic, informed and very attentive.
Mark Bliss was standing at the bar, would have loved to have met him.
I look forward to our next time here.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AM
