Bliss RestaurantExcellent dinner experienceOyster slider appetizer was amazing.
The Lobster Bisque was disappointing with a puree and no lobster bits and was average. The Bibb salad was average and a little difficult to eat with the large leaves placed on the plate but a prettty arrangement.
The Maine Scallps entre was excellent and we could taste why it is listed as the restaurants favorite.
The pecan pie to our surprise was the best we had ever had. The chocolate homemade ice cream was delicious.
Our waitress Michelle ( she goes by Shelli) was perfect and the service overall was very good.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing experienceOne of the best meals I have had in a long time! Great food and service, not stuck up at all as compared to some other high end restaurants I have been to in San Antonio recently.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMBest dining in townOur party of four dined scrumptiously on perfectly prepared and very fresh food. Each dish was conceived and prepared with an eye toward the whole menu - not overly "cheffy" or complex, but able to be enjoyed bite by bite in harmony with each course. We left the restaurant completely happy and satisfied, and will return.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMBest restaurant in San AntonioThis is without a doubt the best restaurant in San Antonio. The chef seems to have put all his experiences at the best restaurants in town to good use and combined the experiences to produce this gem! The food is fresh, bright, flavorful, and imaginative. Don't miss this restaurant. I live in Dallas and this rivals any restaurant here.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat menu and service.I love the idea and execution of the vegan plate. Small portions of many beautifully prepared vegetables. My husband's steak was prepared as ordered. Nicely priced wines by the glass. Bliss has its own parking lot in an area where parking can be an issue.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMSouthtown GemMark Bliss always does a great job providing quality food, great service in a relaxed dining atmosphere.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMBlissfully delightfulMy wife and I went there for my birthday. The Oyster sliders were awesome. The scallops were also very delicious. You can order an extra one if you are sharing or just really hungry. The desserts were good but not great. I would defiantly recommend this place to anyone wanting a special occasion dinner.
We will return soon.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMNewbee'sFirst time to Bliss and we were pleasantly surprised, very friendly staff and delicious food. The evening went better than I planned. I would go again.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect choiceBliss was perfect for dining with old friends. We were looking for a place with outstanding food and service with intimate surroundings so that we could talk without shouting and linger over dinner and dessert. Bliss was "spot on" for food and service. We especially enjoyed the mezze plate to start and the fish entrees were very fresh and well prepared. The cheese plate and almond cake were beautifully presented and delicious. The staff was present, helpful and not intrusive.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat again! This was our second time at Bliss, and this time we were with a group. Fantastic food and service, as before! We will definitely be back!6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMHidden GemTruly a hidden gem nestled in a quaint neighborhood near downtown San Antonio. Very romantic with great customer service and the food was spectacular! Ordered the Lamb which was pretty close to the best I've ever had. Extensive wine list- something for every palate which was right up my alley since I'm a wine lover!6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMBliss is blissWell designed restaurant, could be in any major city, with very experienced wait staff. Food was creative, prepared well, and arrived at table well timed and hot. This is a restaurant with the quality and creative and cooking that has been missing in San Antonio. The fish was perfectly cooked served with a delicious vegetable mix of eggplant, tomatoes, okra very tasty. Also duck three ways included beautiful presentation of duck breast prepared perfectly and foie gras that I have only had prepared so well out of town. Bravo to Mark Bliss for elevating the San Antonio food scene, looking forward to my next visit.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMA contender for the top spot? This was our first visit to Bliss and we were impressed. There is serious talent in the kitchen. This restaurant has the potential to rise to the top of the list in San Antonio dining if it's not already there. Even a simple thing like a chicken fried oyster was absoultely perfect; crispy on the outside and moist and fresh on the inside.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our second trip toThis was our second trip to Bliss and the food was as great as it was the first time! I tried the scallops and they were superb! Our friends enjoyed the flounder which was also wonderful as well as a very large serving, so I got to taste it too.
We enjoyed oysters on the half shell as an appetizer this time - just to try something different. Last time we had eaten the oyster sliders and they're still my favorite.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMRemarkable EveningBliss had no reservations before 9:00 pm so we took this late one. We were ready to eat much earlier, so we showed up at 7:30 thinking we could snack on the patio and maybe they could get to us quicker. Despite the 90 degree temps, the patio was wonderful (great fans keep the air moving without being intrusive). Our server suggested wines for us that were excellent, the charcuterie meats and cheeses were exceptional, and every entree (we had one vegetarian, one steak, one scallops, and one fish) came out perfectly. We hope to return on our next San Antonio trip!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AM2nd time there; disappointedWe had a great experience our first time there a few weeks ago. Last Friday, we were very disappointed with the food -- flounder and branzino were very sub par. The spring rolls were excellent.
We're not sure what to think now, about our favorite Southtown dining spot.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding GemWe were in from Charlotte, NC and looking for an eclectic, foodie-type place. Bliss was perfect. Unique twists on the menu and excellent food. Service was great. We sat outside in the back patio area - it was perfect. Inside looked great as well. Would highly recommend to anyone that appreciates a custom approach to food.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMBlissful Evening! We had a wonderful dining experience at Bliss! The food was perfectly prepared and seasoned. Would highly recommend to family, friends and customers!5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding! We were all new to this restaurant, but have been waiting to try the food. Our wait did not disappoint us, it was all fabulous. Two of us had Branzino, which was cooked perfectly filleted at the table and perfectly flavored and moist. Two others ordered the pork and found it to be equally delicious. The ambience was very pleasant given the hard floors. Overall I would give it a 5 star and we all said we would return.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMSublime!Impeccable experience from start to finish. Innovative menu, exquisitely prepared and served. Every morsel on our plates was eaten with delight - and dessert the perfect finish! A vintage port would have been a nice addition to the after dinner drink menu. Corkage fee reasonable for the quality of wine we brought. Would definitely recommend.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWow !Excellent restaurant! Staff was attentive and knowledgable. Oyster sliders were great, as was the lamb. Portion sizes were good as well. Dined here several times and always amazing. Definitely would highly recommend it!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMBliss delivers againWe took some friends who were in for a visit from DC. It's so fun to show off Southtown and our dining gems. Bliss is definitely a standout. The service was great, and since we were in the back room by the patio, it wasn't too loud. The whole branzino, the halibut and the scallops were all terrific, but the arugula salad was a bit of a miss. However, the almond cake more than made up for it. An all around great experience. Our friends were still talking about it two days later!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMBlissful in every way!It was outstanding from start to finish. Interesting well prepared food and wonderful service. San Antonio is finally turning thee restaurant corner away from chains and average sercice. Yea!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food & serviceWe have been to Bliss twice and both times were very pleased with the outstanding food & service we received. They also have a very nice selection of wines. It is a perfect place for date night or just going out with some friends. I have no doubt if you try it once that you will return again &again.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstandingOutstanding food, service, and ambience. One of the best meals that I have had in San Antonio.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMTHE BEST!this is hands down my favorite place to eat in san antonio. everything on the menu is wonderful. dont forget the desserts. they are awesome!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMblissGreat place for upscale food and ambience. Good to get away from all the sad food around the riverwalk, but not have to travel too far. Excellent choice of meals prepared well.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food. Perhaps best newGreat food. Perhaps best new restaurant in San Antonio. However the noise level is a big negative. Had a headache and it wasn't from the glass of wine.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experience....We will be backBliss has a vibe to it and the food and service matched5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBliss at BlissWe arrived hungry. The mezze platter with its cheese, hummus, heirloom tomatoes, sliced cucumber and lettuce leaves was just right. The potato and leek soup: unctuous. Those at our table who did not order this quickly signaled for some of their own after a spoonful to taste from those who did. Branzino, duck-duck comfit with seared fois gras, grilled octopus salad--perfectly done. House made peanut butter ice-cream, pecan pie, and a lemon cake disappeared without a trace, and happiness reigned. Thursday night and the house was rockin'--weekends, weather-permitting, may call for quieter times at the outdoor tables.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the food and the ambiance.Loved the food and the ambiance. Will definitely return for another delicious dinner.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place to entertain!I love the service and the food quality. I especially like that we can bring out own wines and can call ahead and pair the wines with the meal. This is our third time, and we've loved it every time!5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGood but not greatFood was good, just good not great and not what the price reflects. I consider myself a foody due to my extensive travels throughout the world. I found that Bliss as a restaurant was nice, great space, great people, good service but the food itself was just a little above average. Price point of around $30 an entree was a little high for the food I received I just think it was a little over adventurous for what was offered, feel the restaurant needs to mature a little.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMBliss - an outstanding SA treasure! From the moment you step in the door of this Southtown hotspot, you know you are in for a special culinary experience. We enjoyed a relaxing and comfortable evening with food prepared at its best and service with attention to detail. The Fried Oyster Sliders were to die for! We can't wait to return.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMbeautiful!!My husband and I tried Bliss for our anniversary after hearing about it through a magazine review. We took our 3 abdq6-yr old daughters, who are well-mannered. They split the rack of lamb, which was delicious. The children enjoyed it as well as the adults. The restaurant greeted my husband and I with glasses of Prosecco to celebrate, which was a nice touch! Mark Bliss even came out to congratulate us, which was very thoughtful. If were a little warmer, we would have loved to eat out on the patio, which was gorgeous!!!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMNoisy but great foodBliss on Saturday night. Very busy (almost overwhelmed) but good service in spite of it all. Everyone pitched in, cleared tables. The food is excellent. We started with Charcuterie prosciutto with just the right seasoning. One of our party had the prime rib steak, perfectly cooked. The scallops were melt in your mouth, soft and buttery. Finished up with home made biscotti.
Probably would go on a night other than Saturday (and we plan to go back) but overall, well worth it.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMVery SpecialBliss is a very special restaurant. The food is always excellent, the ambience is great, and the service is impeccable. It is quickly becoming one of our favorite places in San Antonio. Mark Bliss is both hard-working and talented, and his efforts have really paid off.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMBest steakWe went to Bliss for my daughters birthday. We had the Fillet steak. Very tender, juicy and seasoned wonderfully this had to be one of the best steaks we have had in a long time. Wait staff was very polite and we did not want anything, the bread was fresh made and was great. They have a very good wine list very nice list of hors d'oeuvre.. My daughter had the Alaskan halibut it was tender and flakey as well. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone the price, was in comparison with most upscale restaurants but the food was wonderful. We spent $260.00 for a party of four. This included the tip and a bottle of wine and three glasses of another type of wine. If you're looking for a very wonderful dining Experience this is your restaurant.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMa regular spot for usOn our regular rotation. We live in the southtown area and will make this a regular dining spot for sure...complements to the chef and professional staff. Every place he has been involved with has been a favorite spot for us.
Thanks again and congratulations on another successful venture.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMstellar first time visit.stellar first time visit. service was accommodating and knowledgeable while not hovering or stuffy; appetizers were thoughtful and generous (soft shell crab was incredible), salad choices met the different criteria for 3 diners, main courses deftly prepared and artfully plated. Desserts left us truly satisfied for the evening. Wine selections were adequate at all price points. Mr. Bliss clearly has a winner!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AM35th Anniversary - A Romantic MealWanted a nice place to celebrate our 35th Wedding Anniversary before heading to the Symphony. Bliss Restaurant was just right. The staff were welcoming, competent, attentive, courteous, and friendly. The menu was enticing without being overwhelming. Presentation of food was attractive and inviting. The attendants were readily available without hound dogging; a simple glance returned an appropriate response. A visit by the manager was sincere and appreciated. Complimentary flutes of champagne were a nice touch; not solicited but offered in response to our special occasion.
We will return and have already recommended it to friends visiting the San Antonio area.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMBliss was wonderful! Service,Bliss was wonderful! Service, perfect food, great atmosphere. Worth the extra price.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMMUST DINE HEREThis was our fourth time at Bliss. The is OUTSTANDING! We've loved everything we've ordered - notables: Oyster sliders (could eat 5 plates of these!) whole Branzino, Scallops entree (soo yummy). If the weather's nice, sit on their back patio near the fire pit. Lush landscaping, very pleasant. The last two times, we've had the same server, Monique, and she was perfect -- never rushed us, timed the courses well and made some great recommendations.
We can't wait to go back again.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
